to sleep tonight on this fourth of july. a fast-moving wildfire tore through a solaod d neighborhood destroying nearly half the town. good evening. i'm ama dates. dan ashley has the night off. the fire burned in the small community of collinsville across the san juaquin river from pittsburgh. abc7 news reporter alan wang was there and he spoke with devastated homeowners who lost >> they walked down the street of what used to be their neighborhood of collinsville. a wind-whipped grassfire destroyed eight homes along the san juaquin river. it started shed a -- started around 1:30 in the afternoon. >> we were grabbing hoses and as fast as the wind was blowing as fast as the fire was spreading. it started going to my house. >> this is what is left of the bedroom bedroom and one bath home they were renting. it started 20 yards behind the

house. >> it was windy. it was real windy. i was come around the side of the house and i hollered fire! fire! >> reporter: the winds were more than 20 miles an hour and picked up embers and ignited another fire a half mile away. >> that is the eighth home that has been destroyed. if you can see it, the fire trucks are there right now putting it out. >> investigators are trying to figure out the cause. the quick destruction was a combination of extremely dry conditions and high winds and a remote community that took firefighters at least 20 minutes to reach. in solano county, alan, wong, abc7 news. >> the fire burned 4300 acres since breaking out on tuesday. the flames destroyed two homes and seven other structures. three people have been hurt. the evacuations have been canceled. breaking news in sunnyvale

tonight where a fireworks accident seriously are jed two men. one of the men lost several fingers. the department of safety said it happened just before 10:00 this evening. both men have been rushed to the hospital. fire is a big concern for police and firefighters tonight. that's because of dangerous illegal fireworks. here is some video from our san jose camera of fireworks being launched over the city. and here is video a viewer sent us of illegal fire works on 14th avenue a and east 23rd street in oakland. and this is exactly what police are trying to prevent tonight. they are out in force. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard road along with police in the east bay and is live in san leandro tonight. cornell? >> ama, fireworks may be illegal, but it sounds like a war zone. fire works have been exploding in the air all-around us. police are trying to ep could up with -- trying to keep up

with extra patrols and road blocks. the police are turning people away from the marina. it is closed this july 4th. traditionally a gathering place to watch fireworks shows across the bay, but it is also where illegal fireworks have been set off. >> in other neighborhoods homemade fireworks shows were everywhere. this was sent in by a viewer. they say the fourth can be a scary time. >> we were having dinner earlier tonight and somebody near our home was letting off some real loud ones. it is hard to distinguish between a gunshot and a firecracker. >> we road along with the lieutenant as he looked for violators. >> a lot of the illegal explosive devices are powerful and can cause any where from minor to extremely serious injuries. >> he just confiscated this

the burned body was found outside of jerusalem. his family believes his killing was in retaliation for the deaths of three israeli teens. this was the scene near santana row. kahn see dozens showed up to remember the boy. his body was released by israeli authorities and carried through the streets. thousands of palestinians gathered to celebrate the boy they now call a martyr. new details between four corinthian colleges. they agreed to sell 85 campuses and close 12 others. it has more than 70,000 students nationwide. the company has struggled since a ruling delayed the federal student aid money. the government is investigating claims they lied about job placement numbers and claimed to offer programs it didn't. and breaking news now traffic heading into san francisco is jammed after a motorcycle crash on the western span of the bay bridge. this is a live look at the bay

condition. they stopped after their car crashed. officers say the tesla hit three cars and then two light poles before one half hit the building and the other skidded to a stop. thousands of people enjoyed fourth of july parades. veterans waived to folks lining the streets of redwood city. today's parade featured vets going back as far as world war ii and the war on terror. it dates back to 1939 and attracts people from all along the peninsula. in the north bay, lots of red, white and blue for the 49th annual fourth of july parade. thousands packed magnolia avenue to watch the marching bands and the dozens of floats pass by. san jose's super eater joey chestnut added another eating title to his collection. before the nathan's hot dog eating contest on coney island chestnut proposed to his girlfriend and she said yes, and then watched him down 61

hot dogs0 in 10 minutes. that is actually eight shy of his record. matt stoney finished second with 56 hot dogs. it is time to get to spencer christian for a look at what the rest of the holiday weekend holds for us across the bay you. the fog has been across the bay and it has obscured the view and it has moved into the north bay. it will be foggy in the overnight period. right now we have oakland and san carlos and 60 in san jose and mid50s at gilroy and half moon bay. a live view at the golden gate bridge where traffic is slowing much better than it is at other bridges around here. right now 54 degrees a the santa rosa and 56 at napa. 59 fairfield and low 60s at concord and livermore.

one more live view looking out over the bay. we will see fog airbeds the bay and the coast overnight. a warming trend ends tomorrow and we will have high temperatures near 100 degrees inland. notice how far the fog reaches in during the overnight. during the overnight hours we will have mild weather with the low temperatures in the mid50s and then as we resume the animation look what is happening tomorrow. we will have the big, hot air mass we have been talking about for several days and it is worth showing again. it will be into the bay area and bringing us a warm up. tomorrow look for highs in the mid80s to low 90s. 85 in san jose and 92 morgan hill. peninsula will see 83. redwood city and mountain view 82. palo alto, low 60s in pacifica

and half moon bay. we will see highs of 60 at daly city and 61 in the sunset district. 60 at bodega bay. nice and warm inland 85 in santa rosa and 88 in napa and way up north at clear lake a high of 97 tomorrow. east bay high is 75 at oakland and city union city is 78 in fremont and castro valley. 96 in brentwood. the hottest days in the forecast period are sunday and monday with highs in land near 100 degrees. mid80s on the bay. temperatures will moderate a few degrees on tuesday. but we don't get serious cooling untiand fr thursday and friday when the inland highs finally drop back down to or below 90 degrees. >> look forward to that. >> thank you, spencer. shu has our holiday
