going on around the bay area, good to know we have this ongoing project along northbound and southbound highway one putting a crimp in the commute because this is a detour in place, a foreclosure with a replacement of a part of a bridge. at the golden gate bridge it is socked in from marin and it sounds like according to mike it will be heavy. this is the start of it. be careful headed into san francisco. use the low peoples this morning. we have break news from san francisco, you are looking at video where police are responding to reports of a shooting with a victim found in the street. it happened at 3:00 in the area of brookdale avenue. a man had gunshot wounds to the head was pronounced dead at the seen. there have been no arrests made.

>> interstate 280 is back in business this morning, opening ten hours ahead schedule. crews worked for 100 hours during the closing to replace a hinge that connects two sections of the freeway. the roadway opened before 7:00 last night and the new hinge is said to be safer. >> an aliter for residents on the peninsula after a mountain lion was spotted in the san mateo highlands reported on queens lake at 5:30 on saturday evening and a resident spotted one friday night so two days in a row and they found an animal carcass. the mountain lion was reported in a backyard and the cat made a meal of a deer. >> police are investigating a double shooting in bayview district after 5 p.m. yesterday evening. officers arrived to find two victims, 21 and 22-year-old suffering multiple gunshot

happening today, a concord man is sentenced in connection with the malling death of his two-year-old step grandson by three family pit bulls. he was convicted in april of felony child endangerment, involuntary manslaughter and owning vicious animals. the prosecution says that he ignored pleas from the family to remove the dogs which previously killed a pet chihuahua. he faces up to 10 years in prison. groups plan to meet with the california highway patrol of a violent confrontation between an officer and a woman on a los angeles freeway. it began when c.h.p. officer caught up to the woman walking along the side of the freeway last tuesday, the 51-year-old great grandmother was then to the ground, punched repeatedly in the head. representatives of five civil rights groups meet with c.h.p. today and tomorrow.

working harder today. we have fog along half moon bay spilling across the bay in the lower valleys and especially across the north bay coast and santa rosa is up to seven miles so that is an improvement over the last talk where it was around three miles. you can see the clouds we and the diffused nature of the lights over the golden gate bridge so be careful across the golden gate bridge. we have low clouds in those areas not quite inland and high clouds over the nays so it will be a colorful sunrise. 52 to 62 this morning and by noon we are 82 inland and low clouds along the coast for the better part of the day. by 4:00, 62 do 96 under dry air and the high clouds are joined by more low clouds headed to 7:00 and 58 at the coast to milder and 82 inland.

francisco we will have a few low clouds and high clouds and sunshine around the bay and 72 to 86. we have a brand new report of a hit-and-run accident southbound 680, i will have more on that in a little bit but as we head into san francisco it look like you have everything running on time if you are traveling near moffitt along 101 it is looking clear between 280/680 split up to the nimitz which is moving along without a hitch and 280 is clear and highway 85, all moving along swiftly. 280 and 101s again, as you climb up the peninsula, no delays along the dumbarton bridge at 58 miles per hour headed into east palo alto and the san mateo bridge shows from east to west loading up butting in to get in- but nothing to get in the way. >> interstate 280 is back in business open ten hours ahead of

schedule. crews worked 100 hours to replace a hinge that connect two sessions of the freeway. the new hinge is safer. road construction on speaker state 880 is happening all week in san leandro with lane closings and full freeway closures in the northbound and southbound directions but all lanes have re-opened and the closures began last night in the northbound lane of 880 and a full lane closure at midnight with drivers detoured off 880 at davis. two women were hurt when they were hit by a car in the sunset district before 9:00 p.m. at sunset boulevard. the two were in a crosswalk carrying groceries when they were hit and both were unconscious when police arrived and their injuries were not life threatening telling police that other cars stop asked he did not see the women. it is likely the driver will be

cash-paying lanes are loading up and you can see the fast track moving along just fine and we have early riders back after the holiday weekend headed into work. breaking news great fremont, a busy thoroughfare is closed and it will. closed through the morning commute after a major accident. nick is on the scene with the details. nick? >> this is a problem because we are on a major thoroughfare, the parkway. look where we are: if you look you can see the red pickup truck. we understand it was a single occupant in the truck, male driver. it is too early to give facts out but the early determination he may have taken the curve too quickly, hit the tree, and you can see the debris spread across the street and smashed against the other side of the road. we are talking about the southbound and northbound lane and they do believe the

northbound lane is open in an hour but the southbound lane is closed for another three to four hours while traffic investigators complete their work. that driver was extracted by fremont fire and he is currently suffering life-threatening injuries. they have not released his name but they said he is a fremont resident. in a few seconds i will speak with sergeant from the fremont police determine who will give us the latest information but he says it and too early to sell whether drugs or alcohol were a factor but they do believe that speed may have caused the injury accident we see line us and it is a red chevrolet pick medium of some type and we understand that left is gators are work on the scene and the fremont police handle everything internally and well get more information and i will have an update in the next 20 minutes in fremont for abc7 news. thanks, next, eyeball to eyeball with a great white. we will hear from a swimmer who

covering santa close berkeley, san jose, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. authorities in southern california say a lifeguard drowned trying to rescue a swimmer. the 32-year-old carlson was pulled from the water yesterday evening by fellow lifeguards following a frantic 90-minute ocean search. he went into the water to help a swimmer in trouble and they were hit by a 10' swell. the swim are made it to shore safely. in southern california long distance swimmer survived a frightening encounter with a shark is sharing the story, an hour into the regular weekend swim off manhattan beach and he came face to face with the shark who was trying to free from a hook for half an hour. in a phone interview, he said that the shark came out of new york and sunk its teeth into it. right when it bit into my chest you could hear the

"crunch," and i was staring at him eyeball to eyeball. >> surfers saved hip. sharks are frequently seen in the water but this is the first time they have heard of a shark bite with sightings own the rise at several southern california beaches with their populations increasing because of conservationests. images great a rural montana town of a freight train carrying airplane fuselages derailed and send them tumbling down a cliff removing three boeing 737 fuse larges from the river in montana you can imagine it could take days. no one was injured when 19 cars from a westbound train derailed on thursday and the train carried six fuselages, three others, also, fell off but stayed onland and they were traveling from a plant in kansas to a boeing facility in washington, to be assembled into airliners. now a check on the weather forecast. it will be a scorcher.

with moisture rolling through our skies and unfortunately that will not translate into much needed rain. clouds are increasing as the sea breeze is stronger so it will be cooler and stormy the next few days. at the sierra watch out for thunderstorms and the cloud cover shows the low help lying areas, the valleys and the coast spilling into 101 from petaluma to santa rosa and throughout the bay. by 10:00, almost gone, but the low cloud hang out at the coast and 62 at the coast and 100 inland and nearly 40 degree spread today. to the south the los gatos and gilroy are warmest and home 90's and santa cruz is cloudy and 74 and milbrae is 74 and everyone else is running in the home 80's. along the coast, low-to-mid 60's and upper 60's in downtown and south san francisco and sausalito is mid-to-upper 80's and mid-60's at union -- your

beaches and fremont hanging out in the low-to-mid 80's and warmest inland from 92 at san ramon and 100 at brentwood and the temperatures fall back into the 50's tonight. after reaching triple digits we will barely make the 90's on tuesday and wednesday and by thursday we are low 60's at the coast, low 70's around the bay and ten degree cooler inland with seasonable temperatures through the week end. seeing how socked in it is, hard to imagine the triple digits in the east bay. now what is happening in the east bay, we have a couple of accidents to get to, southbound 242, beyond conquer avenue, we had a three car crash and the ambulance is called off, as well, and getting things off the freeway but we have heavy back backups leaving concord. southbound 80, three lanes are blocked off at crow canyon causing a light delay

this is a two-star restaurant that is very popular in the bay area and in the food world, a lot critical aclaim for the restaurant and always lands on top lists for the bay area. the fires say that it is not destroyed. but they say this did burn over the top of the kitchen and the service area. they say the dining area is still intact but the restaurant does have 100 percent suffering from smoke damage. we linens and carpeting all have to be replaced and it will need a new roof. the restaurant has been closed since july 3rd. the owner is out of town. at this point, firefighters say they do not know what could have started the fire. it was closed all week end. they say it does not look suspicious. no injuries in the fire, no one was at the restaurant at the time. they state firefighters are all doing okay.

we will begin in fremont where a major roadway is shut down following a violent crash. nick smith joins us from the parkway. >> we know that the stretch of the parkway is slut down for at least the next three or four hours. look over my shoulder and see why, the red chevrolet pickup that fremont police department say crashed into the tree and bounced back over to the opposite side of the road. the early determination is that the speed is indeed a factor. a few minutes ago we had an opportunity to speak with the treatment police department spokesman. the first officer found a red pickup truck had most likely hit a free and the officer rendered first aid to the only occupant of the truck, an adult male and that driver was transported to a local hospital with
