unfortunately, this suspect, secondary suspect did attack the victim viciously. >> san francisco police announce an arrest in a brutal fight outside at&t park that landed a woman in the hospital with serious injuries. thanks for joining us. >> the woman was apparently trying to break up a fight outside at&t park when she got hurt. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the ballpark. >> reporter: it happened at

second and king last night before 6:00. a woman was hurt from oakland. a man from san jose was hurt at this corner. they found their suspect in sacramento. they are still looking for one other person. police say that two men were in a verbal fight and then the couple, the man and the woman intervened. they both got punched. the man is okay. the woman fell to the ground and hit her head on the sidewalk and was unconscious. she was taken to the hospital. she is responding to treatment so she is going to be okay. police will not say what the fight was about because they don't want to compromise their case. they say it didn't involve the game. >> i can tell you that this attack is not related to any fan rivalry. i won't be able to tell you what precipitated the attack, but i can confirm that this is not based on any fan of one team or the other. the information we have is that this occurred out on the street.

i don't have information at this point whether either party had attended the game or if they were just in the area. one of the establishments prior to the attack? that's all under investigation. >> reporter: they arrested 31-year-old francisco lopez in sacramento. they won't say how they traced him but did have a lot of witnesses in the area and had a description of the truck he and the other men left in. they are looking for one more man, that is the man who punched the woman. they are hoping that the suspect they have in custody will help lead them to him. they are asking if anyone saw anything to please come forward and call police. >> amy, thank you. two people were taken to the hospital after a fire in san leandro overnight. it broke out on 159th avenue. a man has severe burns to his face and body and a woman is being treated for smoke

inhalation. their pets, a dog you see there getting oxygen and a cat were also taken to a vet hospital. the allegheny fire department says the fire appears to have started in the kitchen by someone cooking. a scary incident at oakland international airport this morning when a man ignited a fire inside terminal one. it happened around 3:30 when the airport was mostly empty. the man described as a transient in his sikt was riding a shuttle, got out and set cardboard on fire before being arrested by tsa agents and sheriff's deputies. the fire singed the wall of the terminal as well as the suspect's clothing, but did not cause serious damage. huge headaches for air travelers flying into sonoma county airport because of safety checks that were not done. they are installing new runway lights on its only operating air strip and a light system that guides pilots to a safe landing. the work was done earlier this week when an faa noticed that

wanted nighttime use of the runway was never lifted. that resulted in the cancellation of three horizon air flights including one from los angeles that flew to santa rosa but was then ordered to return to l.a.x. because it couldn't land. alaska airlines, which owns horizon says 240 passengers in total have been affected. federal safety checks are planned for today which will allow the ban to be lifted. belmont police hope surveillance video released to the public will help nab a suspected package chief. the video posted on youtube shows a man walking to the front door on waterloo court wednesday afternoon then walking away with a package. police say two other package thefts happened the same day on hallmark drive. police have not said if this man is suspected in all three thefts. this morning, hundreds of bay area families stood in line for hours to get basic school supplies for the coming fall. the annual give away is a stark reminder of the great need in one of the wealthiest areas in

the country. abc 7 news reporter katie marzullo is live. >> reporter: the give away to registration has been under way about two hours now. we are at the end of the line which is quite a bit shorter than earlier. if you look down the street here, imagine people all what it to the corner and to the left around the corner, in fact we are told the first family here staked out their place at the front of the line at midnight. that's two ensure they don't get left out of the backpack give away. the backpacks are limited. sacred heart doesn't want to have to turn anyone away. emily and her daughters got here earlier as they could and still ended up at the end of a long line. >> we are hoping, hoping, praying, keeping our fingers crossed. >> reporter: they are not asking for much. the basics others might take for granted can be budget-busters for families struggling. >> what would it be like? we would end up going without somewhere else somewhere down the road.

>> reporter: sacred heart community service in san jose hopes to give away 2,800 backpacks filled with school supplies worth $75. >> calculators. usb drives. >> reporter: even working families are having a hard time making ends meet with san jose being the fourth most expensive city in the country in which to live. for kids, financial troubles can sidetrack education. kids from low-income families are at risk falling behind academically. we know that too many kids are cr dropping out of school. between low income families and high income families there is a huge achievement gap growing. >> i'm on disability. it's a stretch each month. this place is such a blessing. >> reporter: last year, sacred heart gave away 2,500 backpacks and didn't have to turn people away. this year they added 300 backpacks to their goal. if you are able to help, we posted information on our

website as to how you can go about donating. visit abc 7 news.com. >> thank you. developing news out of israel this morning. escalating violence has killed more palestinians and missiles are being launched toward tel aviv airports. hamas militants fired rockets at the airport, injuring eight people when a fuel tanker was hit at the service station. the death toll in the gaza strip is now over 100 people after fourth straight day of israeli air strikes. at least 700 have been wounded. for the first time in the fighting, militants have lebanon firing rockets. ronald lee haskill was wheeled away in a chair after collapsing twice this morning. the 33-year-old began shaking as the charges against him were read. he is accused of killing six people including his ex-wife's

sister, her husband and his four nieces andne nephew. he was looking for his ex-wife wednesday when he shot the family execution style at their suburban houston home. jay johnson is scheduled to visit a new detention center in mexico. he is scheduled to visit a location for thousands of undocumented children and adults crossing the border in the u.s. capitol hill is trying to address the immigration crisis. four years after he left angry fans cursing his name, the best player in the nba is leaving sunny miami to return to cleveland. lebron james says he'll rejoin the cleveland cavaliers, the team he grew up watching from his hometown of akron, oklahoma,

a fendi cleanup job is under way on the new span of the bay bridge to clean up ugly stains. thousands of tiny steel particles are creating rust stains on the signature white tower. crews have been going up on scaffolding to wash off the particle and repair the white finish. officials say the particles were created by steel and over time are turning rusty orange. it is expected to cost $1 million for the cleanup, half which will be picked up by taxpayers. bidding is under way right now. >> on one of the largest

military auctions ever. more than 80 tanks, gun parts and equipment are on the clock. it's part of the jacques littlefield collection. the auction is expected to raise $10 million. new this morning, you've seen b.a.r.t.'s new train cars, now you are about to see san francisco's muni's next street of fleet cars. board of directors will vote next tuesday to buy 261 light rail vehicles similar to these. they are built by siemen's manufacturing plant. the $1.1 million order will replace the existing fleet of light rail vehicles. muni anticipated delivery beginning end of 2016. these cars will first see service on the new central subway line. the city skyline could

happening today, a woman named after famed pilot amelia earhart is scheduled to complete the 1937 round of the world flight of her namesake when she lands in oakland. amelia rose earhart will set the record as the youngest woman to navigate the world in a single-engine plane. she and her co-pilot took off from oakland november 26th. she is not related to the original amelia earhart but is expected to land in oakland around 5:00 today.

time to get excited about a full moon. this is your weekend with the super moon. the super moon will happen three times this year with the first gracing the sky overnight tonight. this is video of past supermoons. the phenomenon occurs when the moon is closer to the earth and the effect is magnified when it happens the same time as a full moon. look for the other two supermoons in august and september. we were gawking driving in this morning. >> yes, we were. >> it will be closer in august. i think it's going to be closest in august. if you missed tonight, hopefully you can see that one. that will be cool. >> you had a whole list of things. >> the avon walk. ladies walking tomorrow and sunday to raise money for breast cancer. let's get to it. good morning, everybody. here is a look out our wind coming out of the south along the coast making that right turn across the golden gate shooting into the central valley. below average temperatures once again.

following storms across the northern part of the state. it's no coincidence that the red flag warning is right under those storms. they could put out lightning and the rain is not reaching the ground. high fire danger. check out that eddie moving off the coast near clover dale. that is pulling the clouds away from the beaches. pockets of sunshine developing there. most of us will be sunny this afternoon. it is much drier than this morning when drizzle had us driving through a wet commute through mirin county and san francisco. san jose, plenty of sunshine as we watch the construction continue there in downtown. mostly sun why i below-average highs. drizzle most likely as the drier air mass comes in and will bring average temperatures this weekend and probably above average monday and tuesday. check out areas of low pressure spinning around each other, actually pulling away from the coast. high pressure will develop down to the south across our
