deported because he doesn't qualify for a visa to remain in the u.s. this weekend, 40 adults with their children were returned by officials. the children who come to the u.s. on their own pose one of the biggest problems for officials because it's difficult to figure out where they're from, and why they left. under a law passed under the bush administration, the u.s. is required to verify they're not the victims of human trafficking. in the newsroom, abc7 news. >> sergio, thank you. in washington today, two texas lawmakers announced legislation to speed up the removal of all of the kids who crossed the border illegally. under the law they're entitled to a hearing that could take years to occur. today's bill would allow the refugees to be treated the same as immigrants from mexico or canada.

a big rig crash has been a major traffic headache the truck went off the road, tipped over and started on fire. sky 7 shows dark smoke and two businesses were evacuated. all lanes were closed. that is the commute direction. most lanes have reopened but chp says expect delays throughout the evening. >> another problem is in marin county. it's now threatening to for the commute. this around 7:00 in the morning. and remains closed in both directions. rain? >> it may well be all night but after a long day of looking at

wednesday. thank you. we'll see you in a few minutes. the chp says a man wanted in connection with a deadly hit and run has turned himself in. it happened south of santa rosa on petaluma hill road around 4:15 saturday morning. chp investigators say the 33-year-old john metzger from santa rosa hit and killed a 21-year-old who was walking down the street. metzger who has past felony convicks was charged with hit and run, and violating parole. >> car thefts are on the rise and in one neighborhood resides the city's top official. vick? >> the mayor lives on a street up the hill there. we're not going to reveal the name of the street for security concerns but we can tell you

that the street has become a popular spot for car thieves neighbors thought they lived on the safest street in this there have been high profile police operations in the neighborhoods. this ended with a stolen car, crashing into a building where police found more stolen cars and a motorcycle. this street is only a block long. it's a glaring example of how brazen the thieves have become. i'm shocked there have been thefts on this street the mayor lives in this street. >> this person? mayor ed lee sf >> three stolen vehicles this
