abc 7 news starts right now with live breaking news. >> you are looking live at the aftermath of a violent bank robbery and high speed chase in stockton. righted now police officers are surrounding a vehicle used in the holed up in the bank of the west branch more than an hour ago, and you can see all the cop cars on your screen. one person was taken hostage. the reports are that officers chased the suspect vehicle down highway 99 to interstate 5 with suspects firing multiple rounds at officers with an assault-style weapon. >> the chase came to an end at

3:30 at thornton and wagner heights road. several people in the suspect vehicle needed medical attention and there is word of one t fatality. we will have a live report from alan as soon as we can. >> we are joined on the phone by sandy, who lives in stockton not far from where all of this is happening. what did you see and hear this afternoon? >> caller: good afternoon. i saw nothing than the low-flying helicopters over head. i was speaking to the tree trimmers in our yard and at that point the sirens were almost deafening loud. we live approximately three blocks from the hammer lane corridor, which they seem to be

traveling on. and within ten seconds i could hear rapid fire and the tree trimmers told me to run inside quickly. >> you heard a lot of gunshots. did you at any point fear for your own safety? >> caller: no, i did not. >> what do you know about the situation? police officer are keeping residents in the home and been told to stay back? >> we have not been notified by any police situation, nothing. >> okay. >> well, sandy, thank you for your time and we appreciate you talking taos and giving us insight to what you were hearing when it all began. >> our report continues on twitter. moments ago president obama announced a new hard-hitting sanctions against russia to end the insurgency in ukraine.

man. katie marzullo was in court today. >> tickleman wore almost no makeup compared to last week's dark eyeliner and dark lipstick, and she was pleading not guilty to all charges, and she spoke only to answer the judge's questions about her rights. her parents were in court but left without comment. one of her attorney's had plenty to say in defense of the alleged call girl, first and foremost that she did not intend to kill the ghooogle executive. >> she had a motive, if any, to elongate and not end the

relationship. >> tickleman was a prostitute and hired by hayes and the two were on his yacht when she gave him a fatal dose of heroin and watched him die. they were consenting adults in drug use and she is thought to blame of what happened is an argument. >> she is like a wounded bird. she is not as bad as the media made her out to be. she is a sensitive kid with an addiction problem. >> there is surveillance from the yacht, and both attorneys have seen it but won't talk about it. and the judge denied a request to reduce the bail, so it stays at $1.5 million. and the lease extension is to be discussed tonight.

it's still has to be ratified by the oakland city council and the alameda board of supervisors. if the deal is not approved the baseball commissioner, bud seal kwraeg, said the a's could leave oakland immediately. coming up we will take a deal at the deal and why not everybody is behind it. in san jose police are looking for a group of people responsible for attacking a man on a park trail on monday. the man was walking with a family member after midnight on guadalupe river park trail when this happened. somebody hit the man with a sharp weapon and suffered life-threatening injures. and then a specialized hose leaked hot oil and ignited, and it start about 2:00 a.m. and was out by 3:00, and chevron says the hose failed. the company says it doesn't know why the hose failed.

chevron and the fire department says the fire was minor and there was no threat to the public, however many people lost truck in the company after a fire in 2012. critics say this may have been preventible. >> these are not accidents. these are predictable incidents that occurs when management fails to maintain the refinery at the highest conditions of safety. >> and this comes as the company is trying to get the city of richmond to approve plans for a major remodernization at the factory. we saw drizzle two days in a row, and this was just before sunrise today. spencer christian joins us. every drop counts. >> yeah, we may see a few more drops overnight tonight, and not a lot, but, again, every drop counts. this is a general weather picture. some high clouds and

medium-level clouds and low hrou clouds near the coast. meanwhile over in the sierra, we had an outbreak of powerful thunderstorms once again today and they continue to rumble right now, around 1000 lightning strikes so far and they are concerned about lightning strikes sparking fire and producing -- and the storms producing flash flooding, i should say, so a flash flood watch is in effect for much of the central sierra and points north world into parts of western nevada until 9:00 this evening, as the storms continue to rumble and produce heavy downpours. back to the feeling of less humidity. due points are several degrees lower than this time yesterday, so the area does feel less humid. here is a look from our emeriville camera. 67 degrees in san francisco right now. we have mid to upper 70s in san jose, and another live view of the golden gate bridge showing

traffic moving nicely with temperatures in the 70s in fairfield and conqucorncord. police continue to look for this woman. she is shown on the store video trying to by a beer, and then moments later the woman asked for bus money and twisted the girl's arm and stole her money bag. then she took off. the woman is african-american between 40 and 50 years old. closing arguments wrapped up today in the trial over access to a popular beach. the property manager closed the only access road to the beach, and a coalition of surfers cited the california coastal act which makes the entire coastline

we have an update on the breaking news that we brought you the start of the newscast. the robbery and high-speed chase in stockton, and police are telling us there were at least two suspects in the car and they are not telling us anything about them, and there were two hostages in the car, and one hostage taken to the hospital and the second hostage was released after the chase and was not injured. alan wang is headed that way and our live report continued on twitter @abc7newsbayarea. and then 28 of the 168 people on board were hurt and 20 of the people were taken to the hospital with two suffering serious injured.

if a jet did this with passengers on board a lot of people would be reaching for the airsickness bag. boeing released this video of it's dreamliner at an air show in england. it proved that midair acrobatics are not just for little planes. it did a touch and go and then climbing again rapidly, a move that wowed spectators at the show. the first list of used vehicles recommended at safe for teen drivers. the list includes vehicles under $20,000 which includes good crash protection and safety features. experts say injury-risks can be reduced by the type of vehicle they drive and price shouldn't be the sole determining factor. >> we realize parents are working within a budget, but we are hoping they will consider safety, and they will think

about the high crash risk that teens have and buy the most safety in a vehicle that their budget will afford. >> the institute recommends teens stay away with vehicles with high horsepower engines. they say electronic stability control is a must and helps drivers maintain control around curbs and slippery roads, and finally pick vehicles with the best safety ratings possible, and among the best recommended cars are listed. and then a $500 fine for residents that waste water. and viewers are sending us here documenting water violations. >> tiffany has the story. >> reporter: city officials say the parks and rec departments

bit, milder coastal ocean waters may contribute to our greater possibility of some drizzle along the coast. and our camera shows clouds hovering over san francisco right now. spotty drizzle is likely overnight, and cooler and less humid tomorrow than the pattern of late and a warmer pattern begins on friday. the satellite image shows we are continuing to get the monsoonal flow in the last couple days but the moisture temperature is easing up. and then during the overnight hours, we will see clouds increase and spotty drizzle is likely near the coast but not confined to the coast and by 5:00 tomorrow morning we will be looking at mainly sunny skies inland and hazy sunshine, and clouds lingering at the coast, and tomorrow -- tomorrow morning? tomorrow afternoon, it will be less humid than today, and even at 5:00 tomorrow morning you

will see sunny skies in the inland areas, and just breaking through. overnight, look for low clouds, fog, mild conditions once again, and perhaps a degree or two cooler than last night's lows, and we are looking at mainly upper 50s to low 60s overnight, and then tomorrow afternoon again in the south bay, and hazy sunshine, and high temperatures ranging from mid-70s to upper 70s and 81 degrees at los gatos. and then 75 at redwood city, and mountain view, and low 60s along the coast, and downtown san francisco, a high of 65 tomorrow, and up in the north bay mainly mid to upper 70s, not a warm day there, but a pleasant one. 75, santa rosa. east bay high, 69. and the inland east bay we will see highs only in the upper 70s to just above 80. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. we will warm up on friday to mid-80s, and mid-70s around the

we continue to follow that breaking news in stockton this afternoon where there has been a violent bank robbery and police chase. police are now telling us there were at least two suspects in a blue suv and at one point they had at least two hostages. we know one of the hostages was shot and let out of the car on the street and another hostage was let go unharmed when the chase ended. we know there was gunfire at the end of the chase, but we don't know the suspect's conditions. now reporters at the abc affiliate in sacramento are tweeting photos. here you see a street that police have blocked off, and this is the bank of the west branch where the robbery actually happened. we don't know if anybody was injured inside that bank. alan wang is driving to stockton and getting close and he will bring us a live report just as soon as he gets there. our updates continue right now on twitter @abc7newsbayarea.

and hundreds are dead in the on going conflict betweenish and hamas. >> today president obama said the u.s. will use all of its diplomatic resources to get a cease-fire. >> the people don't want to live like this. that's why we are going to continue to encourage diplomatic efforts to restore the cease-fire and we support egypt's continued efforts to bring this about. >> the president also stressed the need to protect civilians and avoid further escalation. >> reporter: day nine and a cease-fire between israel and hamas seems more unlikely. hamas kept up the rocket attacks and firing dozens into israel today, and israel launch its own attacks after netanyahu vowed it

would make hamas pay for not agreeing to a cease-fire. a first israeli strike killed one boy as the others fled across the beach, and a second strike killed three more. funerals were held for victims of the violence, and palestinian officials say more than 1,400 people have been wounded in just over a week. today hamas said it will continue its attacks on israel until a cease-fire deal meets its demands, and those include easing border closures and a release of hamas prisoners. the israel prime minister said the long-term goal will be a demilitarized gaza. the second of state, john kerry, met with president obama and vice president biden at the white house today to discuss the

from central america are being housed in shelters throughout the united states including this one. the shelter has the capacity for 30 teenagers, and the facility is run by the southwest key program, a group from texas. it's next door to a seven day church. >> it's them walking between the shelter and the park, and they are very close together in a line, and no threat to the community. >> the pastor says his church has reached out to the shelter and invited the kids to a christmas pageant. another texas group runs a similar shelter in fairfield. an arizona congressional candidate is apologizing for his major blunder during an illegal immigration protest last night. the tea party applicant.

listen to this, an attempt to kill a spider inside a man's house got way out of control. take a look. he ended upsetting his entire house on fire. a seattle man used a can of spray paint and a lighter, and not a recommended form of

the latest word from police is that two people are dead. one of them was a suspect. the other, a hostage hit by gunfire and thrown from the suspect vehicle during the chase. police say two other suspects are now being treated at a local hospital. >> there were a total of three hostages, all females apparently taken from the bank of the west branch held up just before 3:00 this afternoon. no police officers were injured in this chase or in the shoot-out that followed. there were three suspects in all and one of the suspects is dead, along with a hostage, but multiple squad cars were struck and homes were struck by gunfire during the chase. >> and our affiliate, tim daily, we will have a report from him in just a few moments. and then a blockbuster decision from a federal judge. let's get to that.
