york city and had duel citizenship with the netherlands where he lived. here are the latest developments in the crash situation. international investigators arrived at the site today, however they can't do a full inspection because armed pro-russian rebels are guarding it, and the team spent 75 minutes with the wreckage before they were ordered to leave and they even fired a warning shot. >> a study rain fell over the crash sight of malaysia flight 17, and an abc reporter on the scene said the smell of jet fuel and death were overwhelming. as officials shifted through the wreckage more details emerged about the 298 passengers on board. >> men, women, children, infants, who had nothing to do with the crisis in ukraine.

afternoon, the family of a woman taken hostage and killed in stockton this week has spoke for the first time. the 41-year-old woman was used as a human shield. her 12-year-old daughter was waiting in the car at the time and texted her father when the crime happened. here is what her children had to say today. >> i wake up, and i am hoping that it's a dream, and that my mom is going to be there, but she's not. you know, it sucks. >> when we would be in the car to go somewhere i would be on my phone snap chatting and she would try to get in them and she would always chew ice all the time. >> all the time. >> two suspects were also killed, a third suspect is under arrest. police are looking for a fourth suspect that dropped the robbers off at the bank in a black four-door sedan. the family is requesting to see

video footage and audio recordings to find out who fired the fatal shot. and then the woman wanted for robbing a little girl selling candy, officers arrested christian yesterday. police say she twisted the girl's arm and grabbed her bag of money and ran on to a nearby bus, and the girl was not hurt. crimes took place in china town and japan town, and woods targeted elderly asian victims back in april, and woods remains in custody and police want anybody who might have information about this case to contact them. police identified a man fatally shot by a deputy yesterday in san leandro. milton was killed after authorities say he violently beat his girlfriend that took

place at east 14th street and 168th avenue. and sky hd was over the scene, and they say he smashed her head on the side of the car and dragged her up and down the sidewalk, and the girl was taken to the hospital with head trauma. here is a live look at traffic moving through the golden gate bridge toll plaza, where drivers endured delays a short time ago, and can you see why right here. bridge officers stopped traffic in both directions after a truck blocked both sides. the highway patrol blame drunk driving for a crash that killed a woman in sunny veil. it happened just before 2:00 a.m. all the people in the car appeared to be related to each other.

the driver will likely face vehicular manslaughter and dui charges. investigators believe nobody inside the car was wearing a seat belt. sweeping new restrictions taking affect on medical marijuana dispensaries, and had to file paperwork to register with the city, and can bus clubs will not be able to do business in residential areas or near schools, and sellers have to have on sight security, and shop owners say the regulations are too tough and could force many of them to close. there are 78 cooperatives in san jose, and that's more than any other bay area city. after 60 years ofbest in francisco, it could be calling it quits. back when they opened it it was one of the few restaurants on irving.

thunderstorms this afternoon, not as many nor are they as intense as yesterday and the day before, but we do have a flash flood watch in effect for this region of the sierra until tomorrow night. looking live over the bay right now, 67 degrees in san francisco, and 70 in oakland, and mid-70s in san carlos, and 64 degrees at half moon bay. and clouds near the coast, and 82 in fairfield, and 76 in concord. and here are our forecast as we look at partly cloudy skies over the golden gate and we will see clouds around the bay tonight and a few lingering clouds in the morning and high clouds with hazy sunshine and warm conditions today. we will have more later. a judge today sentenced aldon smith on weapons and dui charges. and david louie was in court

today. >> reporter: this is going to be an interesting and controversial case because people are wondering whether a star linebacker for the 49ers got special treatment or if he was treated like everybody else? he showed up knowing he could be facing over four years in prison, but in court his attorney argued before the judge that smith cooperated with police from the very first time they came in contact and that he continued to cooperate throughout the investigation into a party back in 2012 at a sapblg house where two people were shot and smith was stabbed at the party, and smith stood up and apologized to the court and said he would abide with whatever the sentence the judge issued. taking all of that into consideration, the judge sentenced smith to three years of probation, and 11 days in jail or 11 days of participation in a weekly work program. smith and his home and vehicles will be subject to search by any peace officer for four years and

he must face several thousand dollars of court fees and assessmen assessments. >> i think aldon smith got treated fairly, like anybody else in the county with this conduct period. our office treated this offense that is the assault weapon offense aggressively because of the danger to the public, and it is what it is, and so at the end of the day i think it's a reasonable sentence, and nobody got a slap on the wrist. >> reporter: smith faced felony charges for possession of assault weapons at his san jose home and he told police he bought them in arizona where they are legal and brought them to california where they are banned. smith will be able to do 11 days of a work program on monday so it doesn't interfere with playing for the 49ers on sundays, and he must do 200 days of community service in connection with the drunk

sheriff estimates this fire has destroyed between 80 and 100 homes. the group of fires has burned about 260 squire miles. 2000 firefighters are battling the flames and washington governor says washington troops may join them on the frontlines, and it has forced evacuations in the area including a entire town and hospital. so far no reports of any

injuries. take a look at this woman. employees say she pwuburglarize their company. it's a camera here that they set up inside the company's mission street office, and hard to get a good view of her in the distance. the woman appears to take office equipment and gets scared off by the security alarm, and she may have broke into at least two other startup companies in the past couple months. and what can firefighters do to saver people more quickly when an intruder takes over and starts shooting. >> that was the scenario today for training with police and firefighters. vic lee has that story. >> reporter: this was held by the san mateo sheriff's department. it was not only to hone their skills in the event of a takeover by a shooter, but this training was the first in memory that brought police, fire and medical services in the county

to drill together, a new protocol for active shooters. >> the movie is called "the predator." those in the theater are role players, and suddenly an intruder begins to fire into the crowd. people are wounded, and some are dead. >> one shooter running through -- yes, possibly one officer down. >> reporter: the first cops to respond are called the contact team, the ones chosen to neutralize the shooters, and the second group is those that will guide firefighters and emt's to the scene as the team begins to secure areas of the theater. in another part of the building, the contact team has killed three intruders, and this second group fans out through the theater to see if other shooters are still here. after they determine there are no others, fire and paramedics

are allowed in to treat the wounded, and time is of the essence and that's what this train something all about. in the past firefighters and medical teams were told to stage or wait until police said the area was safe, and now there is a new immediatance to saving lives. >> entering the building working with law enforcement to secure the scene inside the building while they are dealing with the active shooter. >> reporter: heather gonzalez is a san mateo dispatcher. >> we are not waiting to go in and we are going straight inside. >> reporter: for police, the training gives them another perspective. >> when you bring in fire and ems, it's a whole other dynamic we are not used to seeing. >> reporter: now, these new protocols have been evolving since the columbine massacre. the lesson learned from there is you can't wait to bring in medical teams while people are bleeding to death. vic lee, abc 7 news.

>> thank you. a team of volunteers conducted a blitz makeover today for a place many families call their home away from home. ikea employees assembled new beds inside the hospital in oakland. they won a contest. families stay at the house while kids receive life-saving care at the children's hospital. >> we have had tens of thousands of people that have stayed there and you can imagine the wear and tear on something as simple as a bed. >> the people that come here, it's a stressful situation that we can provide a little oasis for them where they can recharge and take care of their kids. >> today's work included installing $10,000 worth of purchase from ikea in emeriville. the weekend, spencer christian. >> we all look forward to that, don't we? it's the first five after the weekend that are the toughest.

here is a live doppler 7 hd, sunny skies in the bay area, and a few clouds at the coast. more cloudiness in the bay area more than we do now. blue skies buff that this peas are our forecast features, low clouds near the coast and bay overnight, and warmer conditions tomorrow with high clouds and humidity rises on sunday getting back to the little bit of muggy pattern that we experienced later in the week. and you can see the moisture is back on, and some of the moisture is flowing up in our direction, and it will present itself in the form of more clouds pushing through the area, high clouds tomorrow. it won't feel muggy tomorrow, but sunday will start to feel muggier as the clouds get thicker and the moisture works its way into the bay area. speaking of sunday, aides walk san francisco takes place in golden gate park, muggy feeling through the early morning midday

hours, but by afternoon, sunny breaks and a little drier, and a much more pleasant weather pattern in the afternoon. overnight, look for mild conditions overnight under mostly cloudy skies and tomorrow south bay highs, we will see mainly upper 70s on the peninsula, and mid-60s on the coast, and up in the north bay, upper 70s to low 80s, and we'll see low to mid-70s on the east bay and the inland east bay tomorrow we will have highs under hazy skies in the mid to upper 80s. here is the accuweather 7-day forecast. for one day we will experience the increase in humidity and mugginess, and then partly cloudy to mainly sunny skies all of next week, and it will start out as a mild to warm week and getting warmer by the end of the week, by thursday and friday we will see inland highs in the low 90s, not an extreme warmup but a few degrees above average for this time of year.

a new waste water treatment plan the in santa clara county could provide much needed relief to a county that has been parched by drought. the new facility cost $72 million to build and today we got an insight look at the plant. it's the first of its kind in northern california and produces 8 million gallons of treated water a day, and it's used for hra landscaping, and the water is clean enough to be drinkable. >> it's treated and sent back into the environment and into rivers and lakes and it's used again downstream in another city. the water from this facility is cleaner than the water in the rivers and lakes in the

community. >> recycled water makes up about 5% of the santa clara water supply, and district officials say plants like this one could help double that figure. the food sand drug administration is warning people to stay clear of clear powdered caffein after a teenager tied after using it. a teaspoon of the powder is equivalent of 25 cups of coffee and could be lethal. it's unregulated unlike the caffein added into your soda. even a small amount could cause an overdose. scientists at uc davis are working on a mosquito >> the reason why people use

especially greek yogurt. >> greek yogurt has more protein and that's part of the appeal. >> we checked out 27 popular flavors for taste and nutrition. >> had a slight generic vanilla. >> the knnutritionalist saw something. >> the plain greek yogurts we saw had 5 to 10 grams of sugar. >> and the whole foods yogurt averaged 11 grams of sugar, more than five times the label's claim. in consumer report's taste test the whole food yogurt received a good rating, but others scored much better.
