>> good morning. thanks for joining us on this sunday. i'm matt keller in for carolyn tyler. we will start with the if i can look at the accuweather forecast. here's meteorologist frances dinglasan. some green on the doppler, frances? >> yes. we are are seeing some precipitation fall from the clouds and low clouds but most of it is not reaching the ground. most of it is verga. i do want to take you to the area east of fresno, south of bishop. a lot of thunderstorm activity. we will see some thunderstorms possibly south of lake tahoe and a chance of sprinkles throughout the day. temperatures a little cooler in the inland areas. we are going to only reach the mid-80s today. along the coast in san francisco mid-60s and around the bay temperatures in the 70s.

a big warmup on the way with the accuweather seven-day forecast coming up. >> thanks, francis. the opening ceremony for a.i.d.s. walk san francisco is less than 45 minutes away. about 25,000 people are expected to help raise money for a.i.d.s. and hiv research. sergio quintana is live at golden gate park with what is happening now. good morning, sergio. >> good morning, matt. good morning, everyone. right any a lot of those participants are getting warmed up. i am set up over at the abc7 jumbotron, which is kind of weird. i get to see myself over my shoulder. anyways abc7 team will be cheering on a lot of these participants this morning as we begin their walk. a little earlier we visited the starting line where teams were assembling. this is the 28th annual a.i.d.s. walk san francisco and there are quite a few walkers, and lots of new walkers as well. everyone making their way around golden gate park. >> i brought all my kids out

at gold gate park. you can still register. you can show up at the park to register there. now to the latest on the downing malaysia flight 17. they said the black boxes of the plane have been found and will be given to international aviation authorities. the separatists took away nearly 200 bodies that were recovered so far. we have the latest. >> no clear perimeters. known in charge. and no one taking responsibility. >> we have proof, we have evidence it was planned and committed with the participation of russia. >> this crash site now arguably the world's biggest and most disputed crime scene. most of the victims' bodies have opinion taken away in truckloads and are now under rebel control. >> rescue work is not there

because the terrorists are there and they don't allow rescue groups to work. >> armed gunmen hovering over the wreckage and standing in the way of a european group of observers, limiting their access and allowing them to stay no longer than 75 minutes. here one pro-russian fighter seen holding up a toy found among the debris. the prime minister is furious, calling the handling of the crash site and victims down right disgusting. while an international squad of investigators has started trickling into the capital city of kiev, including a dutch forensic teams, the pressure is on vladimir putin to force the rebels to back off and let international rescuers begin a painstaking search for answers. >> it should be an international

investigation to identify the cause and the perpetrator so we can bring them to justice. >> in the midst of all this chaos, the blame game continues. >> russia is trying today to -- they are trying to not be responsible for this. >> the outrage is building around the world. there is a team of forensic investigators ready to get on the scene but they cannot get access. they are waiting for a cease-fire and neither of rebels or the ukrainian government has agreed on that yet. abc news. the u.s. is putting the likely blame for the downed malaysian passenger plane on separatists who had pro russian help. secretary of state kerry points the finger at the separatists. he said there's been russian weapons going over the board to help fighters breakaway from the

central government. some of the separatist leaders are russian. russia has armed the split efforts, have supported the separatists, they continue to refuse call publicly for the separatists to engage in behavior that would lend itself to a resolution to this issue. >> kerry said separatists have shot down several aircraft over the last month and bragged about thursday's attack on the malaysian plane until they realized it was a commercial jet. we will continue to follow on air and on line. coverage if continues on our website and on twitter. in developing news one person is dead and another seriously injured following a car crash in santa rosa. it happened near highway 12 on the off ram. . the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when going throughout intersection and lost control, hitting the tree and a guardrail before flipping over. the driver suffered major

injuries. the passenger was killed. no word yet if alcohol was a factor. >> in stockton friends, family and entire community turn out for a woman killed during a bank robbery last week. misty was one of three people taken hostage. she was killed when one of the suspects used her as a humor -- a human shield with a shootout with the police. we have the details. >> heal our city right now! >> many of the more than 500 at this vigil were still in a state of shock after a bank robbery, chase, and shootout that ended in the death of a 41-year-old hostage misty. her son said she was well-known for her kindness. i am literally at a loss for words. i can't begin to describe thousand thankful i am for everybody who is here. >> meanwhile, the family is still searching for answers. >> misty's sister has questions for the surviving two hostages. >> what happened?

what was mist city saying? what were you saying? what were the last words that misty said? >> and misty's stepfather couldn't help mention the city's battle for crime. >> i'm hoping and praying that our police department can get it together with the state of whoever and get some funds who help us out. >> police say all three suspects, two who were killed in the gun fight, were members of the nortenia street gang. >> we don't have enough resources unless we are joining forces with various state task forces and the fbi to combat thing gangs. there are just so many of them. >> meanwhile the family is still searching answers from police about her death that ended in a hale of gunfire between the police and the suspect. in stockton, alan wang, abc7 news. abc7 news. >> an effort to pay for her funeral expenses is gaining support. her husband works at a car dealership in pittsburgh.

his co-workers started a gofundme page hoping to raise money. his friends raised nearly $8,000 for paul and his kids. >> he's trying to hold them up as best he can for this situation. i mean, how can you? but for his kids and family, he's being very strong. >> co-workers say they are overwhelmed to see donations come from strangers in other parts of the state and across the country. we are hearing from the long time girlfriend of one of the two suspects killed wednesday. 30-year-old gilbert renteria junior and 27-year-old alex martinez died to the shootout. the third suspect, 19-year-old ramos, was arrested on the scene. they expressed sorrow for misty's family. >> breaks my heart he lost his wife, they lost their mother because my kids lost their father so i can comprehend on that, you know. >> police are still searching for the driver of this car discovered about four miles away from the scene of the crime. surveillance cameras caught it

coming off all three suspect before they rob the bank. >> today wyoming national guard c-130 tankers will arrive in washington state to help with a massive wildfire. the tankers are capable of dropping 3,000 pounds of retardant in seconds. yesterday strong winds pushed the flames in several directions. fires burning in the central part of the state have destroyed at least 100 homes and forced more evacuations. so far 340 square miles have burned. here in the bay area we are getting a few showers in some places and drizzly conditions outside. >> yeah, the showers have been active on live doppler 7hd. lots of low clouds around the bay area. i'll let you know where we can find any measurable precip. and i will also have the 7 day forecast. >> up next, the latest in the middle east crisis. what they are focusing on after expanding a ground attack in gaza. >> we will save you a bundle.

gets underway at 10:30 this morning. in developing news, the deadliest day yet of israel's three day old ground offensive in gaza. at least 55 people were killed at israeli troops backed by tanks and warplanes battled hamas militants. dozens of homes are damaged or destroyed and thousands fled the city. the death toll is 400, including 13 soldiers. activists will protest against gaza later today. the jewish community council has expressed support for israel, say thinking support israel's right as a sovereign country to defend itself. [screams] >> oh, my god! >> five people suffered bushes, -- suffered burns, some serious, when the hot-air balloon they were riding in crashed into power lines. it happened last night in clinton, massachusetts. witnesses captured of the balloon descending and two loud

explosions. >> some of protesting because they don't breathe the government is taking the right approach securing are borders. >> they let people run over the border. they should be collecting them and bringing them back where they came from to discourage future people from coming here and giving them false hopes. >> others believe the u.s. must take a more humanitarian approach, especially when children are involved. >> san francisco macy's employees could go on strike. 88% at the union square downtown shopping center voted to reject a new contract, a big issue for workers is the company wants to cap commissions for existing

sales people and eliminate commissions for new hires. macy's has yet to respond to the union's offer to resume negotiations. the state's drought will only get worse as the summer continues. that's the word from the national drought mitigation center' university of nebraska. 81% of the state is in extreme drought, make hard to break the cycle. climate maps are based on many indicators. in los angeles homeowners are keeping their lawns green through the drought by dying it. professional lawn painters are matching a lawn's color and paint on a coat. customers said it's cheaper than rising water bills. it lasts about three months before it needs to be reapplied. a lost people are turning off their water so we are seeing a lot of brown in the bay area. >> my lawn is completely light brown. we are hoping for a chance of showers today but it will be short lived if we get them and very light at best. on live doppler 7hd i'm putting it in a three-hour loop.

you see the pattern of the clouds coming in from the east. now a lot of this does not seem to be making it to the ground because we aren't getting any measurable precipitation yet. but notice in this loop there's a thunderstorm just north of sacramento, south of chico along i-5. we are seeing a little bit of showers making it to the ground like point reyes had .01-inch and .01-inch near salinas. we will keep an eye out for more measurable rainfall. we are seeing a lot of thunderstorm activity to the area of east of fresno right now. we will continue to see a threat of thunderstorms in the area south of lake tahoe and in the higher elevations of central california. as we look live from the east bay hills you notice the low-moving clouds and high-level clouds as well but we are seeing some brakes and sunshine.

san carlos 64, san jose 67, gilroy 9/11 and half moon bay 91. and 43 minutes flight arrival delays. more 60s napa and novato. and livermore up to 68 grease. golden gate bridge still foggy. that's what you can expect along most of the coast today. a chance of showers or sprinkles throughout the day and tomorrow morning. cooler and cloudy for sunday and then warmer by thursday. now the water vapor imagery shows you moisture in the upper levels and the green showing you where it can rain. the area of low pressure with the air circulating counterclockwise continues to build the moisture from the gulf of california. we will see increasing clouds today with a chance of a light shower. but definitely increasing clouds, and then the areas of green show where we could get

some shower activity or sprinkles. and this may continue into monday morning. we will wake up to gray skies and overcast conditions. also for the a.i.d.s. walk happening right now, temperatures will be in the low 60s and then we will reach the mid-60s by this afternoon with a little bit more sunshine. highs today very similar to yesterday, but cooler in some locations. ed san jose, upper 70s through redwood city, palo alto and mid-6 0s along the coast. and look for very comfortable numbers in the east bay, namely low 70s. inland areas low to mid-80s. 81 pittsburgh, 83 livermore. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. we have a muggy, cloudy day with a chance of a sprinkle. i'm keeping my fingers crossed. partly cloudy monday. tuesday and wednesday not much change and thursday and friday is when the heat starts to pick up. we will see mid-90s by friday

good morning, frances. >> good morning, everyone. we are starting out with live doppler hd, showing areas of green. it's picking up precipitation in the clouds but a lot of it is not making it to the ground. so the air isn't green by the time it hits the ground, it's evaporated. so it's mostly verga. i want to show you where it's green with a lot of low clouds but the live camera shows there is no rain falling now over 101. temperatures cooler in the inland areas. only into the mid-80s today. along the coast and in san francisco look for mid-60s to upper 60s. and around the bay temperatures holding fairly steady. upper 70s and topping out at 77. i'll have the complete forecast with the warmup next. >> thanks, frances. less than 15 minutes away from the opening ceremony at this year's a.i.d.s. walk san francisco. at that time organizers plan to honor those who died from the disease. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana joins us live from golden gate park.

them on. now, usually i am out in the field somewhere talking about whatever is going on, and i get to only see cheryl jennings through the television. i always love bumping into you in the newsroom this is the 27th annual a.i.d.s. walk san francisco. how many times have you been able to come out today? >> this is the 27th observe advance of the a.i.d.s. walk so we are a proud partner. when it first started, i started covering it in the early 80s, a.i.d.s. were horrible. today it is so much better with education and treatments. but education and knowing your status, that's what we tell everybody. >> that's what the money goes for. it goes to a lot of those agencies that get out there and do that work. >> yes, absolutely. and a lot of it stays in the community and the fact that we get people hear to talk about a subject that i couldn't get people to talk about 30 and 40

a lot of this is not making it to the ground, but we are picking up thunderstorm activity east of fresno and yosemite late, and we also could see some more thunderstorms up in the lake tahoe area and in the sierra as matt mentioned. i have been keeping a close eye on this area of green. the live doppler hd is very sensitive. it is picking up all the moisture. this was green but i didn't see rain falling. here's a live shot of 101u see a lot of low clouds. we may be getting some drizzle and drags amounts of precipitation around the bay area. we will keep an eye on that and we have the details tonight. oakland 63, san carlos 64, and gilroy already up to 71 and half moon bay at 61 degrees. and i want to take you to the south bay this time because in san jose we are seeing blue skies and high clouds. high clouds and mid-level clouds will be moving in this afternoon. santa rosa, napa, novato in the low 60s and mid-to upper 60s

mid-80s, 9 in san jose and look for 70s in parts of the peninsula, redwood city. 65 in pacifica. downtown san francisco up to 68 degrees. we will be mid-70s today through petaluma, novato, napa and even santa rosa. east bay numbers comfortable, low 70s for the most part. 72 hayward. look for inland areas to come down a few degrees to the low to mid-80s. 80 concord and walnut creek. 83 livermore and down from 88 yesterday. going to the a's game, even though it's cloudy, the humidity will be high. upper 60s at the start and low 70s by the time the game ends. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. muggy and cloudy today and hoping for the chance of a shower or a sprinkle. partly cloudy for tomorrow. and then it holds steady until thursday and friday and saturday where we see the 90s return to the inland areas. friday will probably be the warmest day next week.
