good monday morning. hope you had great weekend. i'm kristen sze. >> i'm eric thomas. a check of the weather forecast and a little something on radar we're following this morning. >> live doppler 7 hd to the southwest of petaluma our best radar return just north of petaluma road and that's sliding slowly to the northwest. you can see it just north of sonoma. best radar return there. this is slowly sliding to the north. so some sprinkles definitely possible this morning. so far haven't had any truth of anything measurable reaching the ground. here's your forecast by the afternoon hours. you can see high clouds and sunshine around the bay. 70 to 80. high clouds and sunshine inland with most clouds across the north bay. 79 to 86.

partly sunny coast and san francisco. 64 to 70. here's leyla. >> we do have construction that will last until 7:00 this morning. keep this in mind if you are going to be traveling off of the bridge in the eastbound direction along 580. from hoffman split to san pablo avenue is where we'll have construction crews there. slow for the cone zone. building 580 westbound from tracy to dublin 33 minutes. highway 4 westbound to concord 16 minutes and 101 from san rafael to san francisco, 18-minute commute. live look outside at the bay bridge toll plaza where it looks like cash payers made their way across the bridge. it's looking clear and a look from our emeryville camera toward eastern span and you can see traffic there moving along without a hitch. hayward police are looking for the gunman who shot a young man late last night. >> reporter: i just spoke with the watch commander. he told me this investigation is

still in the preliminary stages but he did confirm to me that no arrests have been made in this case. at about 9:30 last night here in hayward, a teenager was shot in the stomach on oliver street. we have video of an ambulance leaving the scene and what appears to be paramedics working on a patient in the back. we're told the victim is a male juvenile but officers didn't have an exact age. he was taken to a local hospital and is being treated right now. the investigation on the scene is completed. officers are looking into whether or not this is gang related. reporting live in hayward, matt keller, abc 7 news. this morning the red cross in san leandro is finding shelter for people who say they were burned out of their apartment building. the fire broke out late yesterday afternoon. flames raced through the first and second floors and into the attic. a couple firefighters nearly fell through the roof but managed to get themselves to safety. fire crews stayed through the night looking for hot spots. 24 units in all were damaged and

the cause of that fire is still under investigation. happening today, the contra costa county fire district is holding its ceremony honoring those that lost their lives in the line of duty. the public is invited. it begins at 9:30 this morning. the family of a uc berkeley student that drown in a texas lake is trying to raise money to pay for divers to look for his body. the 20 year old sophomore drown in 100 feet of water a week ago saturday. divers from the sheriff's department haven't been able to find his body. the family has asked a florida team to look but it will cost $15,000. so far the family has raised $4,000 on piggybacker. president obama is set to sign executive orders to prevent employees from workplace discrimination. one will add sexual orientation

and gender identity to the list of protections. the second will protect federal workers from discrimination on gender identity. the orders will leave in place exemptions that contractors enjoy but will not offer new ones. willie brown has a new job. lobbyist. the dealing brown has officially registered with the city as a paid lobbyist representing high-rise developers battling city hall. the city wants developers to pay 1 billion more than previously agreed to because of soaring property values. brown helped create the agency that's now building the new transit center. it's 5:05 now. secretary of state john kerry will travel to egypt to join diplomatic efforts to stop carnage in gaza and urge hamas to accept a cease-fire. sunday was the bloodiest day of two weeks of fighting in gaza.

the palestinian death toll stands at more than 500 with more than half of that number killed since israel launched a ground attack on thursday. at least 100,000 palestinians have been displaced. the united nations has issued a resolution calling for an immediate end to the fighting. new developments in the downing of a malaysia airlines passenger plane in ukraine. victims are unaccounted for and growing evidence pointing toward russian rebels. we are joined now from washington with the very latest. >> reporter: good morning. the families of the victims are furious over how bodies of their loved ones are being treated. rebels have them and say they won't turn them over until international observers examine them. more than 250 bodies from flight 17 have been recovered. most moved to these refrigerated

rail cars after lying in the sun for three days. bodies are guarded by pro-russian rebels. outrage is growing. >> i want to organize a funeral. i don't know where they are. i want my children back. >> reporter: four days ever the tragedy, the crash site and all of the evidence still remain unexamined. the international community is pressuring russian president vladimir putin to use his influence with the rebels to get them to cooperate with investigators. ukraine again today accused russia of aiding the rebels in the shootdown. the ukrainian prime minister calling it a crime against humanity. >> a drunken pro-russian terrorist cannot do that. those were expert people who were trained and we have information that this training took place on russian territory. >> reporter: the u.s. continuing building its case against the rebels and russia. among the evidence, a missile launch from a rebel held area detected by u.s. intelligence at the time the malaysian airlines flight disappeared from radar.

audio intercepts with rebels leaders discussing the shootdown. and a u.s. sighting of a russian convoy carrying military equipment late last week including three anti-aircraft missiles brought down before the shoot down and then quickly rushed back across the border after. the u.n. security council is considering a resolution demanding access to the crash site and a cease-fire in the area. eric? >> thank you. it's 5:08 now. communities in the sierra are mopping up after a welcome drenching. take a look. this was the scene yesterday. the city got so much rain in a short amount of time that intersections were flooded in parts of the city. it also rained heavily all along highway 89 near lake tahoe leaving the roads slippery and left driving a challenge. the rain is just a drop in the

welcome back. it's 5:14. a recently released survey confirms what marin county commuters already know. your commutes are long. many drivers say it takes an hour or more to get to work or school. highways 101, 37 and sir francis drake boulevard are slow. officials at the transportation authority of marin say since more roads cannot be built, they recommend employers offer a work from home option or stagger work times to ease the traffic. happening today, airline tickets will cost more but airlines won't get money. transportation safety security administration fees are going up to $5.60 for all flights.

2015 siena minivan. the mike works one way so kids can't talk back. somehow they manage to do it any way. that's "america's money." new video shows the moment a hot air balloon crashed into live power lines simply frightening. it caused two explosions in clinton, massachusetts, saturday night. the faa says the balloon was carrying six people. five of them were taken to the hospital suffering from burns. some serious. the company that operates the balloon rides has not commented. happening today, president obama will award the nation's highest honor to a soldier who risked his life to save fellow troops in afghanistan. former u.s. army staff sergeant ryan pitts is the ninth living survivor to receive the honor. after surviving an explosion, he used a machine gun and grenade launcher to take out as many enemies as he could.

nasa will rename operations building at the kennedy space center in honor of neil armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. yesterday marked the 45th anniversary of the day they became the first humans to set foot on earth's satellite. armstrong died in 2012. the two surviving apollo 11 astronauts will be onhand for today's ceremony. as you probably know, collins is the guy who wasn't on the moon. circling the moon waiting for the other guys to finish up. >> not a glamorous gig there. we're looking at what's going on up there. what do you think airport delays possible today? >> low clouds. mid and upper level clouds and almost the same pattern we had a week ago. low level clouds because of the marine layer. mid and upper level clouds because of the monsoon flow directing moisture our way. most of this not reaching the ground. we haven't found a single reporting station up north that received measurable rain. some sprinkles will reach down

to your parts and possibly you may need windshield wipers once or twice. big picture, this is the only game in town right now. it's going to stay up north as boundary is ever so slowly sliding to the northwest. over top of the marine layer, which you can see, winds coming in from the west and they're about 17 miles per hour at fairfield. good sea breeze. it's not enough to churn the bay up too much here where we look from the camera to the southeast underneath the bay bridge and toward the port of oakland. we'll talk about morning sprinkles. any flight arrival delays into sfo i'll let you know here or on twitter. tonight, sprinkles probably not as likely. a warming trend thursday, friday, saturday and sunday as high pressure from the southwest will start pushing some warmer weather our way instead of pushing cloud cover. here we are this morning. high clouds as they retreat up

to the north by noon the low clouds breaking up ever so slightly along the coast. partly sunny there to partly cloudy for the rest of us with temperatures below average inland today. we'll be in the low to mid to upper 70s for most of the south bay and cupertino, gilroy, low to mid 80s. on the peninsula, mid 70s to about 80 degrees. look at the coast. mid to upper 60s. mild there to near 70 in downtown and south san francisco. mid to upper 70s north bay valleys even with lack of sunshine for a better part of the day. 72 at berkeley. mid to upper 70s for the rest of the east bay shore and we'll have 79 in san ramon. everybody else low to mid 80s. mild once again tonight. upper 50s to mid 60s. seven-day forecast, temperatures a lot like today even with more sunshine. the wednesday forecast temperatures turning warmer. back to average in most areas and look at the 80s and 90s away from the coast where we'll hit 70 over the weekend.

now. 79 to 86 inland east bay is where it's warmest. slow clearing from south to north. 64 to 70 coast and san francisco. normal to below normal temperatures bay and inland. >> good morning, mike. good morning, everybody. 5:30. we look at the drive coming out of tracy right over the altamont pass, it's building as we speak. very busy. up to dublin interchange and you are slow and go and then once you get past 680 you are looking at a clear drive into castro valley. 54 minutes right now to head from tracy to castro valley at this hour. and as we jump over to the san mateo and dumbarton bridges, smooth. live picture of the san mateo bridge and you can see traffic flowing nicely over the water up to the peninsula. no crashes to report there. kristen and eric? >> leyla, thank you very much. breaking news overnight. police in the north bay looking for the gunman who shot and wounded a victim in marin city.

abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live near the scene with the latest. >> reporter: investigators still here on the scene gathering evidence. they have not made any arrests. they say a man in his 30s was shot around midnight. the solicit's department got several calls that shots had been fired but the victim kept going, walked a couple blocks and then officers caught up with him. >> sheriff's deputies were on scene in less than a minute and located a victim that suffered a number of gunshot wounds to the head. >> reporter: investigators say the victim is not a resident but well known in the area. they haven't released his name or details about a motive or the person that shot him and they are still looking for the shooter. no arrests at this point have been made.

live in marin city, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a teenager that happened on oliver drive here hesherian boulevard. the male was a juvenile and have not released his name or age. matt keller will have a live report at the top of the hour. the surviving suspect involved in a deadly bank robbery and shootout in stockton is expected to be charged today with triple murder. 19-year-old jaime ramos is due to appear in court at 1:30 this afternoon. he used misty holt-singh as a human shield. singh died along with two other robbery suspects. ramos could face the death penalty. police are investigating two suspicious deaths in the north bay. just before 3:00 yesterday morning, police found two people dead inside an upscale sausalito

home after neighbors reporting hearing gunfire. >> i'm glad it's an isolated event and that we're safe and it's just sad for all of us. >> two adults were found dead inside the home. a woman in her 40s and a man in his 50s. no word on their relationship but coroner's report on the cause of death is expected tomorrow. a 9-year-old girl is recovering after being shot while playing in a park in oakland. it happened saturday night in west oakland. witnesses say two groups of men fired shots at each other and the girl was caught in the crossfire. at last word police made no arrests. to the middle east crisis, secretary of state john kerry is headed to cairo this morning to push for a cease-fire between israel and hamas after the deadliest day of fighting in gaza. more than 100 palestinians were killed sunday as well as 13 israeli soldiers.

to israeli military action in gaza and u.s. government support to israel. a gaza teen who received a prosthetic leg in the bay area lost that leg as a result of fighting there. he's 15 and this is video of him learning to walk with a new prosthetic leg last year. he was hurt when a missile hit his home in gaza in 2006. his prosthetic leg was destroyed in an attack last week. the palestine children's relief fund, which first helped him in 2006 now plans to bring him back to the u.s. to replace his prosthetic leg. the latest in the downing of malaysia airlines flight 17. a group of international experts is arriving in ukraine including two americans. the u.n. security council is considering a resolution

demanding access to the area where the plane went down. rebels have recovered the bodies of more than 270 of the 298 passengers. many of them are now sitting in refrigerated box cars. ukraine's prime minister says the country wants to transfer the bodies to amsterdam but the train has not moved and russia has done nothing to ensure safe passage. satellite images shows how wide the debris field is spread out. images show the wreckage covering a 1,300 acre area. the flight was shot down last thursday. russia is denying any involvement and says ukraine's military campaign against the rebels is to blame. analysts say the california drought will likely lead to more pollution. the san francisco chronicle reports that because reservoirs are low, power companies like pg&e can't produce as much electricity from hydroelectric dams. this means they'll have to turn to power generated by coal or natural gas burning plants.

in addition, farmers are being forced to pump more ground water using generators fueled by diesel or gasoline which emit more greenhouse gas. >> we wish the moisture this morning would lead to more ground water. won't be that way. >> most of it isn't even reaching the ground. doppler radar has capability of estimating how much rain reached the ground out of this system. we'll go to the north and show you from about 300 just north of there and all reporting stations at the ground say nothing has reached the ground yet. that's the potential if some of this would reach the ground across the north bay but so far it's not hitting the reporting stations. sprinkles are probably what you're dealing with. how about mid 60s on the peninsula today? right now from 64 to 66. that's the way it is everywhere until you get to napa at 61. 60 at santa rosa.

62 at san francisco right now. as far as moving forward, temperatures will stay in way through 7:00 with sprinkles north, drizzle possible for the rest of us and clouds will start opening at noon. we'll go 66, 70 and 74. that's the coast, bay and inland temperatures. by 4:00, most high clouds in the north bay. some low clouds at the coast. 66 there. around the bay, 76. 84 inland. should be comfortable if not humid this evening. >> we're maintaining an accident-free state at this hour. we had one earlier crash in benicia eastbound along 780 cleared and right now we do have construction lingering. this one is going to be with us until 7:00. coming off the richmond san rafael bridge eastbound side 580 from hoffman split is where crews will be. be careful driving through that area. bay bridge toll plaza where you can see traffic now starting to build quite a bit there. cash payers are loading up indeed as we come away from emeryville.

it's 5:42. two people were injured, more than 100 homes evacuated after a diesel spill from a train derailment in wisconsin. three engines and ten cars jumped the tracks in singer half hour outside of milwaukee. 4,000 gallons of diesel were spilled. hazmat teams have it contained and people are now being allowed back into their homes. early reports are the train may have struck some cars on another train. happening now, wildfires in washington state are being blamed for at least one death and 150 homes destroyed. more than a dozen fires burning across the northwest this morning. the largest is the carlton complex of fires which has

burned more than 237,000 acres. 1,300 firefighters are on the fire lines hoping cooler temperatures and lighter winds today will help them gain the upper hand. the red cross is there helping some 2,000 evacuees get food and shelter. video from a remote control drone shows damage left by the wildfires. nothing is left untouched around the area 200 miles east of seattle. homes reduced to ash and landscape with nothing but charred remains of trees and shrubs. the deadly crash of a small airplane is to blame for sparking this wildfire in arizona. it happened yesterday afternoon in the mountains of near sedona. happening today, lawyers for l.a. clippers co-owner donald sterling beginning to lay out their case in the trial that will determine who will own the team. the trial focuses on whether a deal by sterling's estranged

wife to sell the team for $2 billion is authorized under a family trust. meanwhile, a judge has rejected a bid to strike the testimony and reports of two doctors who say sterling is mentally incapable of acting as administrator of the family trust. the nba wants sterling out as an owner after his racist remarks were made public. 5:44. for nearly three decades people from around the bay have come together for aids walk san francisco. an estimated 20,000 people came out for yesterday's annual walk. this year's event was especially poignant with the opening ceremony taking a moment to remember the european aids researchers who were among the 298 passengers killed last week in the downing of malaysia airlines flight 17 in ukraine. this was the 28th annual walk and abc 7 has been a proud sponsor of the event almost from the start. >> this is our 27th year and it's a legacy we're really proud of and keeps getting bigger and bigger and we're very glad to be
