thunderstorms with lightning and we are checking with meteorologist mike nicco to see what is happening. and where. >> lightning over san francisco. just a few minutes ago. we captured this from pier 30. it is over the ball park as we look back toward at&t park. it looks like it hit the score board. impressive looking lightning. thank you for your tweets, everyone. we call this ground truths. >> you can see near taylor boulevard moving away from walnut creek to lafayette on 24 and mt. diablo boulevard is where the impressive radar is. it is headed to the north at 30 miles per hour moving through pleasant hill and could hit concord and 15 minutes it will hit 242.

there could be the possibility of lightning. there could be big drops. ed storm just passed through half moon bay and move through the higher elevation headed to skyline boulevard and burlingame and possibly san bruno. i will adjust the track and move it to the north. we can get a new update. south san francisco is less than ten minutes. bay shore is in 18 minutes. san francisco is in about 25 minutes. we could see a repeat of what we just saw on the video of the lightning moving through. i took the lightning off to show you all of the cells and how when they move into marin they are falling apart. but as they move through the peninsula in the east bay they are holding their own. if you live in sonoma or napa, in those counties, the storms could hold together and work their way toward you with

clear. no delays interest san francisco. now a fatal accident: a motorcyclist died after crashing into a big rig on 101 in santa clara and c.h.p. has open all lanes i. katie marzullo has the breaking news. the c.h.p. made quick work of this saying they are understaffed and they wanted to get it cleared before the commute. if there is any silver lining it is for people headed northbound on 101 because the scene is cleared and traffic is moving along quickly. i got an update from c.h.p. about what happened starting after 2:30 that a motorcyclist hit the back of a big rig and i can tell you it was a double trailer as fault truck and possibly the motorcyclist was trying to pass the truck and slammed into the back it and the

motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle on to the road and that is when other cars became involved. >> the rider of the motorcycle was left in the road and there were several vehicles inadvertently that came into contact with the body. whether contributed to his death, we don't know. >> the victim has not been identified and we know he has hispanic man between 25 and 30 years ago and witnesses say that he was speeding, possibly going up to 100 miles per hour so at this point c.h.p. believed speed has something to do with the accident and it will be a while before they determine if drug or alcohol played a role and they believe all other parties and cars that were involved or saw anything did stop and everyone is cooperating, the big rig was not in the wrong. the moral of the story is, speed

san francisco. amy hollyfield, what is the rationale for this new ruling? >> they want to clear this station quickly. they do not want people lying down to get in the way in case of an emergency. they will do this at powell station. look a this video, we found homeless people who are lying down in this station. we do not see any police officers forcing them out. bart officials say they will not be allowed to sit or lie down on the ground at bart stations. they will start at powell. one passenger thinks it is unfair and sounds like it is targeting the homeless. another passenger said this is not a motel and people should not be allowed to lie down here. the agency insists the policy is not targeting the homeless. >> we reached out to the advocates of the homeless to let

meteorologist mike nicco and the thunderstorms. good morning, everyone. there is supposed to be one over sfo but you can see there is light inning and not much. on radar you can see it is pulling away from the main part of the airport headed through san bruno and south san francisco and up along the bay shore into san francisco. another impressive radar return from angel i'll across to richmond-san rafael bridge will head to the north to san pablo bay and could make it up to 37 miles per hour east of vallejo and american canyon. we it will have one shower moving away from lafayette but pleasant hill and martinez and concord possibly pittsburg could bet a thunderstorm, a belt -- bolt of lightning. this is headed to the north from

you can see this will be headed over to oakland and berkeley. it is 30 miles per hour and it will hit berkeley in 20 minutes or 24 minutes and emeryville less than 20 minutes and el entreat in half an hour and it will skirt oakland the watch out for that. we have a system finally holding together as it moves through the north bay and came ashore between muir beach and this will continue headed to the north at, say, 30 miles per hour. this is where it is going. over novato and it will be there in 24 minutes and marinwood in 16 minutes and you need to be prepared for brief heavy rain and lightning from the systems. around point reyes potential shower and now starting to pop up around san jose and this is a

half an hour ago with lightning striking around at&t park. you can see up of the bolts looks like it hit the scoreboard or the light tower. it gives an idea of how strong the lightning was and how close it was to reaching the ground. live doppler 7 hd shows the strongest storm moving right across the eastern span of the bay bridge to emeryville with brief heavy rain moving through emeryville and headed to berkeley with small hail less likely now the radar runs are less intense. it will be in the heart of berkeley in four minutes and hercules is 16 and benicia is 22 and vallejo is 25. storm system is moving through fairfax and headed across lucas valley road. in novato it will be there in ten minutes and sonoma at 25 minutes. the storm is moving from

the mud westbound we 580 with delays behind it. more on the fatal accident that closed down part of highway 101 in the south bay this morning. a motorcyclist was killed in the crash involving several vehicles katie marzullo is at the seen. katie marzullo? >> c.h.p. was able to clear the accident in time for the commute. the traffic now is moving freewayly. everyone has their eye on the sky and the downpour we experienced in santa clara, northbound 101, north of doctor america parkway, has subsided. the motorcycle crash into the back of the big rig was a double trailer asphalt after 2:30 this morning and the c.h.p. says three or four other vehicles was involved because the motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle, lying in the road and the other cars possibly ran over the body.

at sunol a wazers said it was raining well and moved up to 680 and in pleasanton and at sycamore road continuing through the heart of pleasanton in the next five or ten minutes. to the north we see south of dillon beach, up highway one, beautiful highway one, we have potential shower there and one of better radar runs so to the southwest of mill valley and san rafael and bear faction and if it hold together it will be in your neighborhood in 20 or 25 minutes. the storms are moving to the northeast at 35 miles per hour and it is still humid behind the storms. you can see the clouds hanging around on sutro tower where it is now dry. we will be sunny in the afternoon hours. a lesser chance of showers tone as the energy with less energy
