sliding to the north and this is powerful that has dropped 11 bolts of lightning the last half hour headed through the mountainous region moving through petaluma in 25 minutes and east of mill valley at tiburon and most of the showers con traited in the north bay with a couple of showers in the east bay but those are not so strong. we have morning rumbles of thunder and the chance will taper in the north bay and it will be sunny this afternoon with the humidity hanging around and 71 to 80 around the bay and inland east bay is 79 to 84. leyla gulen? >> our roads are getting wet. however, it does not appear to be causing a crash yet. we hope that remains the case

today. the altamont pass is slow at 26 miles per hour and the areas are shaded in green an indication of where we have possible rain. it is slowing things down. westbound 580 is taking on a couple of minutes to the commute and 46 minutes from address to dublin/pleasanton and westbound highway 4 to concord is slow and san rafael to san francisco is slow and the bay bridge toll plaza has metering lights turns on can traffic is heavy from emeryville. breaking overnight in the south bay the c.h.p. is investigating a fail motorcycle accident in santa clara on 101 near great america parkway. c.h.p. says the driver of the motorcycle was killed after crashing into the back of a big rig before 2:30 much the motorcyclist was possibly speeding was thrown from the motorcycle and may have been run over by several cars the crews were able to clear the accident time for the commute. >> bart accept forcing a new ban

at the business of the station. no longer can people be allowed to lie down at the powell station in san francisco. what is the rationale, amy? >> some people are wondering if this is a good and fair idea. look at this video, we shot this, this morning, in san francisco, bart officials say people like this who are lying in the corridor of the powell bart station are in the way in the case of an emergency. they say they need to be able to evacuate it quickly and can not have people sitting or lying in the station. officials say they are not targeting hopeless people. >> it is not a hotel. how are you going for keep people from stay out there if no one is there to enforce it? they are not bothering nobody.

speeding weapon he crashed into the back of a big east conference on 101. it happened at 2:30 this morning. the motorcyclist was thrown from the motorcycle. he may have been run over by several cars. in richmond, eight people are out of their home after a fire that broke out before 3:00 a.m. on 7th street. paramedics took a child to the hospital. there is no word open their condition. a man suffered minor injuries after jumping from a window to escape. it could have started in the kitchen. a bay area county will consider unprecedented approach to save precious water in light of our drought. katie marzullo is in the south bay with a new daughter cop? is that right, katie? >> we thought we came across a good example for you of what you are not supposed to do at the santa clara convention center,

sprinklers were on when we roll up and there was plenty of water on the sidewalk but we have downpour going on. when the rain hit the sprinklers went off. now everything is wet. santa clara valley is getting serious about the new mandatory water restrictions. the next step is the water cops. the santa clara valley water district board is expected to approve $500,000 to higher-up to ten temporary employees the water cops that will be there to enforce the water restrictions and respond to any complaints and notify whatever city or municipality or company sends the property owner the water bill. the information could be used to write out tickets which would mean fines. right now few cities in california are issuing fines. sacramento and santa cruz are two that are just to make a few.

in february, santa clara valley asked the customers to cut 20 percent and it is just not happening. palo alto was close with 17 percent water savings and the city of santa clara only 7 percent which brings us to official considering hiring enforcement to stop sprinklers watering the sidewalk or memorial washing that are cars without a "stop" nozzle. that is what we will look for. in santa clara for abc7 news. the san francisco board of supervisors will vote on whether to police a tax on sugar drink on the recommend ballot. the measure would add two cent an ounce task with revenue going toward physical education. the economist of the city predicts the tax lead residents to reduce consumption of soda by 31 percent.

live doppler 7 hd. we are not seeing much lightning. we have talk about the west, but, now, the east moving away from martinez and pleasant hill with the light shower moving to pleasanton and livermore and around hayward and san leandro moving to the north at 30 to 35 miles per hour. at the coliseum it will be sunny and sunny at 7:05 and 66 by 10:00. we have an accident in santa rosa eastbound highway 12 at 101 where we have a multiple vehicle crash involved an overturned vehicle and a big rig. it is not causing too much slowing. fremont, though, the warm springs extension project will start tonight with guardrails between fremont and osgood so want out nor lane closings tonight through friday at 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 for the closing.
