not believe lightning struck the scoreboard although it looks like it from the video. from the north bay, heavy rain fell this morning soaking cars parked in one neighborhood. from emeryville, there were dark clouds hanging in the sky north of richland with windshield wipers needs this morning. a man was in the shower when lightning struck the the redwood cities outside his house. four trees were damaged. bill o'brian heard a big "boom," at 7:30 this morning. >> we didn't know what it was. there was debris. i didn't know some something blew up or the situation. we discovered that lightning had struck. >> oh bride thinks the house is okay but will get the plumbing checked out. right now he is waiting for pg&e to restore power.

meteorologist mike nicco is watching these conditions. mike? >> a noisy way to wake up. our strongest storm is away from us and sacramento into the west in woodland and davis and we have a thunderstorm that dropped 14 bolts of lightning and just scattered light showers barely detectable compared to this morning where we had waves of showers and thunderstorms cross the north bay and san francisco and the east by. that is where they went last. we had .01 in petaluma and san francisco had .04" and half moon bay at .2" of rain. what to expect? scattered showers and isolated storms the next hour or two moving from south to north and clearing later this afternoon. i believe we have seen worst of it as far as the thunderstorms and the damage they cause.

cardboard to be recycled and today is pickup day. the driver of the truck did fought know he pumped a man into the back of his truck until he heard a strange sound. >> he said a banging inside the truck, an unusual sound and he yield out and the person yelled back so had was a verbal communication between the driver and the man who was in the dumpster. >> driver drove straight to the fire department a couple of blocks away at 16th and irving and asked for help. >> this is a very unusual situation. the driver, mike jones, did a heck of a job. >> the man did get smashed when the cardboard was compressed but the driver turned it off when he lend there was a man. >> he has a shoulder injury but he is healthy and survived.

suspend flights it tel aviv. matt keller is at san francisco international airport. matt? >> the list is growing of airlines not flying into tel aviv. it started with the f.a.a. say they are pronouncing united states airlines from flying into israel and now word there are several international airlines prohibiting their planes from heading into israel and out of the israel. of the airlines: delta, united, american, us airways, klm, lufthansa and air france. usually if you are headed out of the area you connect at other airports such as l.a.x. or john f. kennedy in new york. the initial flight to the airports will be available but you will not be able to fly from this to tel aviv for a while. there are exceptions. israels national carrier had flights interest from john f. kennedy and newark and british airways continue to operate

normally but that mean you have to connect to a flight leaving from europe in response to the rocket strike that landed a mile away from the airport this morning. the f.a.a. will monitor and evaluate the situation and update airlines when permitted. israel transportation officials are trying to convince the airlines to change their mines say it is safe to land in tel aviv at the airport. i spoke to two officials and san jose's national international and they are not seeing a direct impact but check with your airline to find out about changes. and there are findings being laid out about the malaysian airport that was shot down. 193 of the 298 victims arrived by train after being held up by rebels in the nonconflict zone.

blessants hill and parts of concord, and benicia, and a light shower and that is the only game in town. the well is starting to dry as you can see. north bay still has a chance of a shower and you can see the clearing slowly taking place from south to north and i don't think we will get rid of the clouds completely but they are breaking up and at sfo we have flight arrival delays around an hour and 12 minutes so call ahead if you are headed that way. in san jose, looking pretty nice with no need for the umbrella headed out to lunch soon. and another look at what is going open, temperature rise, if you are headed out we are in the upper 60 to low 70's and the warm spot would be los gatos at 75 degrees. this is how it looks from sutro tower with the taller clouds moving across the north bay and the areas where we could have the best shower chance the next hour or two before they taper
