will ride to the north and bring scattered thunderstorms across the northern california area which is why we have a possible fire hazard. in modesto there was a mini cold front when the two areas clashed, but we will be brighter today than year 93 to 99 and upper 80's around the bay. >> bart is still recovering in richmond and daly city direction. >> we have a look outside at the bay bridge with you get to the toll plaza where we have an injury accident that started with two vehicles a fender bender, really, and another car slammed into them. a foot is pinned under a car. we have injuries involved and it looks like traffic is building.

as we look from this area from our camera you can see there are flashing lights that are blocking east middle lanes causing a squeeze as folks get off the transition road with heavy backup from emeryville. as we take the drive over to the altamont pass it is slow-and-go traffic over the altamont pass and we have possible moisture there as you make it up to vasco road. breaking news in san jose where police are on the scene of a homicide that happened this morning near a popular downtown hotel. matt keller is near the scene with the latest. miss have this area around the fairmont hotel blocked off for the investigation. we see police officers walking around with flashlights looking on the ground for any time of evidence. at 2:15 someone called 9-1-1 reporting a person was attacked by five or six people on market

street and park avenue and officers found a man suffering from one stab wound and he was taken to the hospital where he died. the victim is not identified and police will notify the family first. no one has been arrested. police are investigating the motive but it does not appear gang related. this is the 22nd homicide in san jose this career that is less than 12 hours after another homicide in east san jose. this park is where the city holds the christmas in the park festivities in december and right next to the technical museum and in front of the fairmont hotel so a busy area and no word on how long the police investigation will take. from san francisco six people are recovering this morning after a minivan and taxi collided and helped up on a sidewalk. it happened at 10:20 at post and jones street. officers tried to pull over the minivan and the driver took off. they did not chase the driver

who slammed into a taxi two blocks away. the impact sent the taxi into two pedestrians on the sidewalk. the people in both cars were injured and the driver of the van ran away but was taken into custody a shot time later. amy hollyfield will have more on the story at 5:30. >> raining rockets in gaza as fighting intensifies three weeks between the latest conflict between israel and hamas. katie marzullo has developing news from the newsroom. >> israel hit your targets overnight and the death toll is up. israeli troops hit gaza strip only power plant shutting it down and an engineer says it will take one year to fix it. strikes hit the home of gaza's firm prime minister a top hamas official and government offices and the headquarters of the hamas satellite tv station. israel said they targeted more

homicide. >> supporters to raise the minimum wage will rally tonight. a rival ordinance is going to be introduced. they would raise the minimum wage from $9 to $12.25 an hour. the proposal does not exempt nonprofit whose cannot afford a dramatic increase. the city council will hear a competing plan calling for more gradual increases in the minimum wage for nonprofits and small business. part time employees could get more rights in san francisco under a new plan unveiled giving part time workers more protection at,200 chains including requiring workers to be paid a minimum four hours if they oncall and making companies offer more hours to exiting employees before hiring new

news. it is 5:29 on tuesday. thanks for joining us. how is the weather forecast? it is muggy. i moved from the midwest to get away from muggy. >> it is humid. some sprinkles from petaluma to east of santa rosa headed up 29 through northern napa valley near mount st. helena to clear lake and one through san jose up to alum rock and milpitas. we have increasing sun this afternoon and steamy at 77 to 78 around the bay and 93 to 99 inland east bay and 66 to 73 at coast and san francisco and isolated shower possible this afternoon. >> we do not have accidents to report and that is a great way to start the morning. we did have congestion over the altamont pass but the rest of the bay area is moving and we are not seeing delays anywhere else. if you headed along westbound 80

from albany to the maze it is four minutes and 880 southbound from fremont to hose is 14 minutes and 280 northbound is only 11 minutes. you can see the traffic tail lights are pushing to 580 and looking heavy and possible residual slowing because of the early accident and that accident has been cleared and you are in the clear if you are making your way up to the tolls. breaking news in san jose a man died after being stabbed by a group of five people if downtown san jose. it happened at 2:15 this morning near the plaza. police are trying to figure out why man was attacked. it does not appear to be gang-related activity. police have not released a victim's name. it is the 22en homicide of 2014 and the second in 12 hours. matt will have a report at 6:00. >> a stolen car and escape attempt and a crash sends six

people to the hospital in san francisco. amy hollyfield has information at the crash scene. this is surveillance video from a hotel that shows the car speeding and crashing in the intersection. police were trying to stop the driver for a traffic violation. they later found out the car had been stolen. it crashed into a taxicab at post and jones and spun around three times and the taxicab hit a pole and two pedestrians on the sidewalk. the poll, then, fell on to one of victims. >> the van we could hear breaking from here and it hit the tackets cab on the corner and that hit someone on the bicycle. >> one pedestrian suffering from life-threatening injuries and the other is being evaluated. the taxi drive and the passenger

will be okay. they were hurt but they are expected to survive. the suspects were taken to the hospital and were hurt. one suspect left the scene but caught a bus and police caught up with him and arrested hip. once the car started speeding through city streets they did not pursue the vehicle. the crash happened two blocks away from where they tried to pull over the car. in berkeley a driver live seen after hitting a pedestrian this morning. it happened at 2:00 a.m. at dwight way a few blocks south of the uc berkeley campus. in word on victim. this is no description of the car involved in the hit-and-run accident. a treatment teen is hospitalized with your injuries after he was hit by a car. this was on the paseo padre parkway before 7:00.

peopling living near a wildfire at yosemite getting good news as evacuations are being lifted for some. people in one town will be allowed back into their homes starting at 9:00 this morning and so far people in in another town are under evacuation orders. the fire is burning in yosemite national park. at last check it tarred 2,600 acres and destroyed one home at only 5 percent contained. yosemite is open but certain campgrounds are closed. >> a man using a drove to get video over raining wild store could have devastated the firefighting efforts. the sand fire east of sacramento and the man was order to by down the drone. awe have seen how low the helicopters come in. we had a bird strike and the plane was grounded with

someone's grandmother, someone's sister. >> police releases we surveillance video say she is between 25 and 30 and took off in an s.u.v. and possibly a ford explorer. today the richmond city council is expected to vote on chevron's controversial plan to modernize the refinery in richmond. a packed public hearing was hold last week on the oil giant's billion dollar proposal. the city council heard an appeal from chevron on the planning commission recommended changes. chevron reverted their position and now says they will come high with stricter new standards to reduce greenhouse gases and other emissions. it is time to seen off on a deal to keep the a's at the coliseum. a's owner agreed to the terms of the ten year lease extension to keep the team at the coliseum. the sting has been approved by the board and is expected to

covering novato, oakland, sunnyvale and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. more efforts to save embattled medical center in san pablo with rallies today and tomorrow to demand the city of richmond and chevron help the hospital out. nurses want the city to require chevron to provide money to doctors as part of the refinery's $1 billion modernization project and a resolution will be heard today caming on contra costa county to take over the hospital and provide funding. the hospital is shedding skilled workers. 66 have left since early may. >> today a group of tenants in san francisco will protest the conversion of apartment buildings into to youist accommodations through sites like airbnb and proffers say hundreds have been evicted and thousands of rent controlled programs are converted into
