live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. the heart of downtown san jose looks peaceful but a man was stabbed to death early this morning near the tech museum in the san jose fairmont hotel. it is the 22nd homicide of the year. thanks for joining us. san jose police are looking for half a dozen suspects, who live and work in the area are worried of the rising violence. matt? homicide detectives finished the investigation about two hours ago and during the day many families head here enjoying

the park or headed to the tech museum. but at night many are too scared to be here. >> popular evens bring hundreds and thousands to the plaza all year. this morning in san jose it was the violent death of a man that brought dozens officers. witnesses say five or six men attacked another man at 2:15 this morning. officers arrived they found the victim in the crosswalk on market street with one stab wound. he died at the hospital. police say it is not appearing to be gang-related killing. >> there are some items including beer bought wills and things like that in the park behind me. our investigators will look into what to see if there is a connection between those items located here and the homicide. >> many who work in the area are concerned of the violence which attract as lot of rains egypts

and they do not feel safe walking alone in the area at night. the entrance to the tech museum is 75 yards away from where the victim was found. a couple of hundred kids are attending summer camp and the museum said "the incident overnight was tragic. like all downtown institutions, we are saddened by the events. our team supporting the authorities in anyway we can." across the street the fairmont hotel has seen violence in the shad des and a man was stabbed in february of this year and he was the fifth homicide of the career in san jose. this morning, it is the 22en homicide of the year and obviously troubling for the most recognized we hotel in san jose. the hotel provided 24 security and offer escorts at night. >> for the hotel and the community it is concerning. that is why we want to help. police are checking surveillance video from area businesses including the

fairmont hotel. so far, no arrests have been made. antioch police need help from firefighters to capture a suspect. they used rope to pull a man from a house. trouble started at 4:45 this morning when they tried to pull the man over. he refused to stop and led officers on the chase and then the highway broke down. he took off on foot. the car turned out to be stolen. in san francisco, a neighborhood is cleaning up after a terrible chain of events that sent six to the hospital. two have been arrested. amy hollyfield? there is a lot of boarding up and a lot of sweeping up going on here and a lot of head shaking. there were so many hurt.

a nine-year-old girl has died two days after getting hit by a plane in venice. the young girl's father died on sunday when the plane crash landed as they walked along the water. the family lived in georgia where her father is 36-year-old serves at a first sergeant in the army. he and his wife were celebrating the ninth wedding anniversary. >> c.h.p. has made a dramatic helicopter rescue in the marin head lands and it was caught on video. officials say two juveniles were stuck on a cliff north of the lighthouse and wearing only beach wear and no shoes. the c.h.p. helicopter crew lowered a rescue collar and used to pull them to the aircraft and neither of the young people were
