>> puncturing the gas tanks. and stealing the gas. >>reporter: thieves are actually doing much more than vandalizing cars. this is a rash of crimes that is also creating a health hazard. good evening everyone. i'm in for dan. >> i'm amma. this is a look at just a few of the 10 incidents reported so far across napa. 7 news joins us live from one location where the vandals hit. alan? >>reporter: whoever is doing this is bold enough to do it right in the parking lot of the wal-mart. now apparently the newer model cars have a lock on the gas cap or gas door or app anti-eye side fong device the crook drills hole in the tank but apparently not very good at it because they are getting gas all over the place. >> napa police say they have

mess in our parking lot. >>reporter: police breathe suspect is driving a white mid size suv with washington plates n.nap a-abc 7 news. >> police in santa rosa are lacking for victims of man who may have been impersonate ago police officer. earlier this month during a traffic stop police found a police scanner, crime tape, handcuffs and fake sheriff's badge all of this in a white crown victoria. police say the driver is known gang member. he was not arrested but police believe he may have been targeting drivers. >> 90-year-old man who crashed into 5 people in palo alto has not been charged with a crime. this is the scene earlier today from sky 7 hd. the driver says he accidentally accelerated instead of breaking while parking. about lisa joins us live from where it happened on busy university avenue. >> several window will have to be replaced at university cafe. board went up late this afternoon. all that happened

hours after horrific scene unfurled right here. university cafe wasn't as busy as it normally would be on a thursday night. just eight hours after this car slammed into patrons. pedestrians. and the front of the building. cafe regular here at the usual seat tonight right next to the crash zone. >> this is a little surprising because it's parallel parking but if it's too bad. nobody nobody wants this. >>reporter: 5 people were rushed to stanford hospital for treatment. 4 member and one woman. 2 men will have surgery tomorrow. >> hit in the lower part of their body so they had some significant orthopedic surgery with fractures of the lower extreme ty. >>reporter: 90-year-old driver is the one responsible police say. witness still can't get the sound and images out of their hands. >> if man with hip completely displaced. like war zone. there was another man next to him was bleeding.
