stadium. sergio? reporter: it is opening day and all the spectators here are making their way into what is now the newest, shiness, football stadium in the country. opening game is here, of course, they're going to be playing futbol, 0 as we call it in the united states, soccer. the earthquakes fans are eager to be the first ones to take in this grand sporting venue. it took a little over two years to construct the stadium. capacity is just under 69,000 spectators but won't get close to that number for this matchup between the san jose earthquakes and the seattle sounders. a lot of fans were decked out in 49ers crimson. >> grew up near santa clara my whole life and been a 49er feign and they brought it here. got to be here.

flores from hollister. he was last seen driving a late model silver or gray kia and is described at 5'9", 160 pounds, black hair, brown eyes, and tattoos and the letter b and scrolls on both arms. >> a 13-year-old girl from oakland is recovering after being shot in the shoulder. she was standing in line being candy in lake core store on foothill boulevard. gunfire erupted outside the store just after 9:00. bullet came through the window injured the girl. an early morning shooting in san jose killed a man in a mini-mart parking lot. the victim was walking to a 7-eleven when he exchanged either word objected looks with someone in a parked car. the person got out of the car and opened fire. a video surveillance camera may have caught the shooting. this is san jose's third homocide in five days. new details bat chase we first brought you as breaking news yesterday. police arrested a murder suspect on highway 80 after weaving

lines. >> california's busiest part of wildfire season typically starts this month and next month. already ahead of schedule with more than 40,000 acres burn so far. the crews are working to clean up a potentially hassors situation at a san mateo park. raw sewage con tam mated the park. took two rounds of testing to discover the problem. the leak happened near college of san mateo and the sewage drifted downstream. it's unknown how much waste got in the creek but officials say shouldn't pose a health threat unless a person drinks it. the city expects the warnings will be lifted next week. >> ahead at 6:00, the decommission of an old power plant in southern california will top $4 billion. we'll tell you if people in northern california will have to cover those costs. oracle's ceo larry ellison makes a pair law in hawai'i and became the owner of every hotel

a nuclear power plant in southern california will be taken apart but it's at a huge price. according to a plan from so-california edison dismantling the san oknown plant will cost

$4.4 billion and the radio active fuel will be held at the facility. the ceo says the company has plenty of money to pay for the project. l.a. crews finish major repair objected the nearly century old water main that burst, spilling 20 million gallons of water on ucla's campus. take a continually running faucet 15 years to release that much water. it will now be reinforced with concrete blocks and extra steel plating to protect the joint, and crews began filling the giant hole the burst created in the street. ucla started a $1 million crowd funding effort to help those affected by the flood and has already raised $39,000. >> up next at 6:00, monterey bay has seen an explosion of wildlife this summer. why authorities now issued a warning to stay away. >> can we expect a sunny sunday in the bay area?

oreck kell's ceo larry ellison now owns every hotel room on the island len nye. the hotel was built in 1923 for dole plantation executives. its former owner and operator said it was hard to compete with the other hotels ellison owned. >> monterey boaters are being warned to keep their distance from hump back whales feeding near shore. staff received reports of vessels including battle boards and tie yacks moving could -- kayaks moving do close. sanctuary officials advise boaters to stay 100 yards away from the protected species and warn those who injure or harasses the humpbacks will be

pushing into the bay and even some inland areas. so we'll wake up to gray skies with temperatures in the 50s. 57 in oakland, 56, san francisco. 60, san jose, 59, antioch. now, that heat that brought us triple digit temperatures yesterday, is going to ease a little bit over the last 12 hours, as the hot air starts to move away, temperatures cool down quite a bit, and tomorrow, when we hit lunchtime, we'll get mainly sunny conditions around the bay and inland areas, but still cloudy and cool at the coast. numbers are going to be actually very similar. so temperatures holding steady, maybe fluctuating a few degrees in some areas. so look for a high of 80 in san jose, 89, morgan hill. warm on the lower peninsula. 77 in menlo park. at the coast, low 60s, sunset district. a range of temperatures in the north bay from 60s at the

coast, low 80s through sonoma and napa. 78 in vallejo. look for a very comfortable, mild nurses in the east bay. upper 60s in berkeley and oakland, 70ss in fremont. and we'll come down within today's numbers. so 90 in antioch. 89, livermore, lots of events this weekend. if you're heading to the oakland art and soul festival, should be fairly comfortable. might lead a layer. partly cloudy during the morning, warming up to the upper 60s in the afternoon, and also the tour depeninsula going on. very comfortable for bike riders with 58 during the morning, low 70s by the afternoon. so get your ride out of the way during the morning hours. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. we have very typical pat person, 60s at the coast. low 90s inland, maybe just also cooler for monday, and then
