the transit options and how to get here and home. sergio quintana, abc7s news. >> the stadium cost $1.3 billion and took two years to build. it has 30,000 parking spaces. they span 28 lots. and intersections were changed to help the flow of traffic. stadium seats approximately 68,500 fans. the 49ers upcoming season is sold out with fans reselling about 10,000 tickets per game. the san jose earthquake president said it was an honor to be the first on the field. >> it is incredible. this is a great day for the community, for the earthquakes. to have all these people here, it's a historic moment. >> the earthquakes have a deal with the stadium to play one match a year there for the next four years. other big events coming up, the niners will host the denver broncos in the first football game ever played at the stadium. that happens august 17th in the preseason game. the 49ers first regular season

game will be played on september 14th against the chicago bears. the first college football game is on october 24th and cal meets oregon. the first pac-12 championship at levi's stayed is october 25th. and the fran bowl, formerly known as the fight hunger bowl, will be december 30th. early next year the wwe "wrestlemania 21" on march 29th. >> firefighters are trying to find the cause of a fire that forced 25 people to evacuate their homes. flames broke out behind third street and palou avenue. that was just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon. the business has business on the bottom floor and residential units on the second. no injuries reported there. this morning firefighters are fighting one of several fires threatening homes and businesses across california.

last night 27 people were sent to help fight the fire burning in shasta county that burned 26,000 acres and is only 5% contained. officials say those firefighters could stay on the fire line about a week. >> it's challenging, and they really enjoy doing it. it's what they signed up for. and some of these firefighters that are going, i mean, they are city firefighters but we have hired them from other departments and they have a lot wildfire experience. >> meanwhile the day fire in modoc county has grown to more than 12,000 acres, forcing evacuations and threatening 150 structures. governor brown has declared a state of emergency and has asked -- secured fema assistance to help cover the firefighting costs. the 20-year-old murder suspect is being sought. officials say he shot someone friday night around 9:00 p.m. they believe he may have kidnapped 20-year-old vanessa flores. he was last seen driving a late model silver or gray kia or

midsize s.u.v. he is described as 5'9", 160 pounds, black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on both arms. new details this morning. prosecutors dismissed many counts against a former teacher. 34 of 104 counts are dismissed. he's accused of molesting 14 former male students. he taught fourth and fifth grades at woodside elementary school and was arrested last year. defense attorneys argued students only made accusations based on rumors. our media partner "contra costa times" say the prosecutors reduced the molestation counts to two victims. closing arguments are scheduled for monday. police in fairfield are looking for a person who they say sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl while she was jogging yesterday. police say it happened before 12:30 in the afternoon. the girl was on a walking trail near okay brook drive in the community of core deal yeah. the suspect asked her for

directions and then assaulted her. the suspect is described as a caucasian man, 18 years old approximately, and he was last seen wearing a black shirt and gray sweat pants. concord police are looking for the suspect who assault add woman found bleeding and unconscious in the hillcrest park area. she was found early yesterday morning just before 7:00. the 40-year-old victim was given first aid and transported to a local hospital where she is in stable condition this morning. >> a video surveillance camera caught this man walking away from a park friday in palo alto where two women say he exposed himself. here's a sketch of the suspect. he's described as 45, 6-foot tall, slim build. last seen wearing a baseball cap and jean jacket and white pants. and the first victim of the deadly ebola virus is being treated in atlanta today. doctors are taking extra

precautions to avoid contamination. abc marcie gonzales has the details. she is live there. good morning, marcy. >> hi, good morning, cornell. dr. kent brantly is starting his first full day of treatment here. his family says they are very optimistic. >> this morning dr. kent brantly is waking up at this hospital in atlanta. the first american ebola patient ever on u.s. soil brought here yesterday from liberia. flown in this medical plane with a specialized isolation unit, transported to emory university hospital where family and friends were stunned to see him there on the right walking out of the ambulance. >> to see him walk, which hadn't even occurred to me, was just unbelievable. >> doctors covered completely in protective gear like this are treating brantly. keeping a close eye on his condition in this hospital room that is specially isolated so there's no risk of the disease

spreading from here. >> i understand the public's concern, this is a new infection for the united states, but we really think we have processes that maintain the safety of not just the patients, but the public at large >> the ebola virus has killed more than 700 people in west africa. dr. brantly contracted the virus there while treating patients. >> i know of he was feeling a little better and hopeful for that. brantly's colleague, nancy writebol, will also be brought here in the next few days. there's no cure, but doctors are optimistic the care they get could save these two americans' lives. >> i think a lot of it is the really important supportive care that we realize is the key thing in improving the model. iv fluids, flood transfusions, -- blood transfusions, if necessary. >> and brantly's wife was able to visit him last night but she had to see him through a glass

ride. >> randee is a modern dance choreographer who travels recently. in march she returned from a quick trip to new york. she jump into an arrow checker cab at sfo to head home. the cab ride was just 12 miles and took only 15 minutes. she used her chase credit card to pay the bill for the ride via square. >> i thought it said $39.05 but she was shocked when she opened her credit card bill later that month and it was $935 and 95 cents. >> that's right. the charge was more than $900. so she immediately called arrow checker cab and was told she would have to call her credit card company to dispute the charge. so randee filed a dispute with chase. >> i thought everything was going to be fine. it's such an obvious mistake. >> a couple weeks later she got a letter from chase. >> saying that i lost and i would have to pay it. >> but she noticed in. >> tiny print at the bottom of the letter that she could dispute the charge with square. >> i didn't even know what square was. >> it's a credit card transaction system that allows anyone like a taxi driver or

food truck owner to accept a credit card. >> i could only e-mail them, which i did. and i didn't hear back. >> that's when she called us. we started with arrow checker cab. it wouldn't go on camera but they said the drivers are not allowed to take cash or checks for payment. so they are allowed to use square for payment. so in this case she had to get her own money back and told us, quote, if the customer had a merchant account with arrow, then we could return the money to the customer right away. we also contacted chase and square. within two hours she heard from both companies. >> i got a phone call from chase, and then i heard from square. promising that this would all get resolved. >> joe is consumer actions, consumer services manager. >> you have the right to ask for

it's been a big part of people's lives for a long time. >> definitely. but anxious to see the levi's stadium. >> saw it yesterday. >> the heat is gone. you felt that yesterday. what about the moisture? that's coming back. it's been a common theme the last several weeks with the subtropical moisture headed our way. what makes it different in this case is there is a triggering mechanism, an upper level low that not only with the transporting of the moisture, it will act as a triggering mechanism to allow for showers, the possibility of sprinkles today and maybe showers tomorrow into tuesday. thunderstorms, dry lightning, all of that because unfortunately we are looking at the moisture all across the state. and the fire, the chances of igniting more fires around the bay and not the bay, i should say the state, or the bay, is possible due to all that moisture and lightning.

right now we are looking at emeryville with a stable atmosphere. low clouds and fog. 50s and 60s. 57 with three mile visibility and we will look for san francisco to be on the cool side today with breezy winds, partly cloudy skies in the 60s. here's a look at our roof camera. the winds are light right now. they will increase throughout the day and we will get into some sunshine but we will call it partly cloudy. not only oakland and san francisco but san jose and the east bay as the clouds continue to increase. novato 57. napa 57. and from our exploratorium camera it's a great start out there. mist and drizzle. it's with you along the coast. it should be with us throughout most of the morning hours. so you will need your wipers, a little damp out there. and with an afternoon sun-cloud mix it will be a cooler day today. temperatures in the 60s in and around the coast and the city. even across the bay at oakland and then 70s to near 80s as you head toward the east bay. a chance of sprinkles throughout the afternoon and evening hours. but as we look at the water

vapor imagery, the chance of moisture increases throughout tonight and tomorrow. here's why. you can see the subtropical moisture is headed up right now, looks like to the sierra nevada. but this upper level low, the position is changing and that's going to allow for some wrap-around moisture. here it is closer to the bay area. red flag warnings to the north because of the possibility of dry lightning. so the possibility remains for more fires to start with the lightning strikes that are possible. we are hoping for a little moisture, but what we see probably won't amount to much at all. so into tuesday you can see we are still looking the sierra nevada. in fact, flash flood warnings around reno through tonight and tomorrow. so this really encompasses the northern sear, the southern sear. we've had rain all throughout southern california in the past couple days. upper 60s today if you are head today okay flashed the art and

chinese media is reporting at least 26 people are dead and 79 are injured following a magnitude 6.1 quake in southwestern china. according to the usgs it hit at a depth of six miles. it's reportedly the strongest quake to hit that area in 14 years. turning to the crisis in the middle east. ten palestinians are dead after an isreali airstrike at a u.n. school. earlier air strikes killed nine people in southern gaza. and meanwhile the prime minister said yesterday troops would reassess the situation. at the same time, the prime minister warned hamas about what could be expected if it continued to fire rockets at israel. >> hamas again mistakenly believes that the people of isreal do not have the will and determination to fight them. and hamas will again learn the hard way, that israel will do whatever it must do to protect its people.

more than 1700 palestinians and nearly 70 israelis have been killed in the 27-day conflict. another rally will be held in san francisco, this one in support of israel. it will be held at the civic center at noon. a counter-rally is also expected to occur there. a palestinian american living here learned that eight of his family members died in an airstrike in gaza. he's been watching the escalating violence, following the breakdown of the temporary cease-fire between hamas and israel. a friend called him to tell him eight members of his family were killed. >> there's no words for it. until you experience it, you have nothing that can describe that pain and that hurt. they were a very good family, very loving. had no desire other than to have a free and good life. >> a ninth family member also died in a separate incident.

>> here in the bay area crews are working throughout the week toned cleanup a raw sewage spill in san mateo. it happened at the college of san mateo is where the leak happened and the sewage went downstream. officials say it shouldn't pose a health threat unless someone drinks the water. warnings are expected to be lifted early this week. a different kind of health threat this morning in toledo, ohio where officials found dangerous toxins in the water supply. the shelves in stores are empty after people cleared out all of the bottled water. a state of emergency was declared in toledo. nearly 400,000 residents are unable to drink the tap water after toxins capable of causing liver and nervous system damage was found. >> until we know further, i believe it would no be a safe practice to use water for human consumption or animal consumption. >> you can't wash dishes or get it on places where it could be ingested or wash vegetables or

food. >> it came on algi food so big they are visible from space on the south shores of lake erie. scientists are working to neutralize the dangerous organisms. this morning a teenager is recovering after lighting himself on fire as part of an internet trend known as the fire challenge. we have the story. >> his waist is bandaged and burned. that was after the 16-year-old set himself on fire and was burned. >> being set on fire is awful. the screams were just horrific. my brothers were scared. but it's my fault. i can't really say nothing else besides was it a dumb idea. >> it's called the fire challenge and it's easy to find videos on youtube and social media in which people put flammable liquids on their body and light themselves on fire. valencia, who spoke to us exclusively, said he poured nail

game that could cost you your life. >> i wouldn't wish it on nobody. it's extremely painful. it's not a good idea. it's nothing you want to try. >> abc7 news. a not so positive experience for one southern california family waiting for a dog from hubera county based positive service dog solutions. a nine-year-old was supposed to get goldie in april to help detect when he has epileptic seizures. the family raised the $12,000 they were told it would cost. they sent the money to the nonprofit organization. but still no dog and no messages left on voicemail. >> you ask people to help you, and when you have a sick kid you need to. we asked in good faith. it's embarrassing because i felt maybe -- i guess i should have known but i didn't know. >> well, it turns out at least 20 families are suing paw sensitive service dog solutions for delivering untrained dogs or not delivering them at all. an attorney for the nonprofit

bay and the wrap around moisture. this is monday night. it continues into tuesday. so you can see it's kind of erratic. we see the possibility of showers and clouds i mentioned the higher dewpoints. it's all going to be with us throughout midday tuesday and then we will see things get a little more typical with the low clouds and the sunnier skies. but take a look at the activity. we talked about southern california, the mountains. this will all make for a really sticky feel to the atmosphere today in southern california. 84 for the highs there. back home temperatures cooler today for the tour peninsula. by the afternoon 70 degrees. partly cloudy for many of the neighborhoods down on the peninsula and for oakland temperatures in the mid-and upper 60s. highs from the low 60s san francisco and 72 san mateo, 78 vallejo. upper 80s inland.
