mess. now stadium operators and the vta will be readjusting their plans to make sure that when the first 49ers game here in two weeks brings 70,000 fans it will go a little smoother. at the close of the game when more than 48,000 fans streamed out of levi stadium the traffic went sour. >> it took me over an hour to get home, over an hour. >> she wasn't even one of the fans. she is a resident who got caught up in the detours and the gridlock. >> they were not allowing anybody to turn left. even if you went further down you couldn't then turn right. >> fans took to social media to post pictures and rant about backed up traffic. "happy i could attend tonight's game, but the traffic was one and a half hours, insane." the 49ers say they are already working on solutions. >> nobody likes standing in lines whether you are in a car, bathroom, concession

if you don't have tickets they will be available last month and the lucky fans will get to go and they have been notified. san leandro police assaulted a teenage girl in a public restroom it happened in the lakeside apartments near water fall way. lilian kim has the story. >> the clubhouse at the lake house apartments were open and despite the security measures a teenage girl was sexually assaulted on saturday afternoon. investigatorsinvestigators say someone came up behind her and attacked her in one of the stalls. >> i am shocked, yes, i am. we don't have that kind of thing going around. >> it is unclear how the attacker got inside the clubhouse which is locked. residents need a key to get in. investigators are now looking into whether he was a resident or if someone let him in. police have only a vague description. >> and now we are looking at

deputy came into contact with a 20-year-old suspect during a yard search. oakland police say he was wanted for a violent crime. neighbors say they are tired of the violence. >> it makes me very much concerned and there are small children in this area and they want more out of life. >> three separate departments are investigating the shooting. berkeley police are searching for a suspect who opened fire on a person. it was shortly before 9:30 when they heard multiple gunshots. the victim was shot and transported to the hospital. but he is expected to survive. a police pursuit and crash in vallejo sent a suspect to the hospital. just after 9:00 p.m. a chp officer spotted a man driving a car that had been reported stolen. he then lead officers on a high speed chase a and the pursuit ended at sheriden and

winchester. developing news, fire crews from several bay area cities are on the fire lines across california pitching in to help battle 14 wildfires in the state. six of those are considered major, and you can see them on the map. it has burned nearly 26,000 acres. the shasta county town is on evacuation watch because of the fire. flames are racing through tinder dry brush. >> the fire is moving through those heavy fuels. it is about a quarter mile an hour which in those fuel types is pretty fast. >> i have a lot of confidence in our brothers and sisters they will come out of this okay. >> the day fire is burning near shasta county. the 36-square mile fire is 40% contained ?ie. -- a fire broke out and burned three to four acres off

eureka drive. crews had it just about distinguished by 9:00 p.m. we heard reports of smoke being smelled a long ways away from the fire, but we could see some relief from firefighters across california. let's head to meteorologist for a first check on weather and live doppler 7hd. >> good evening. we are seeing temperatures coming down and it will help firefighters and bring the relative humidity up. live doppler 7hd is showing the clouds all over the bay area. there has been some measurable rainfall in the areas near yosemite. we saw some thunderstorm and lightning activity in the areas as well south of lake tahoe. right now as we head up toward the lassen area, the temperatures are 69 degrees and the relative humidity up to 44 degrees. the winds have been calm, but with this moisture from the south we will see a continued threat of thunderstorms in the area. highs today came down a few degrees as well in many

locations. 85 in livermore and 64 in san francisco. 74 in san jose. i will let you know if there is a chance of thunderstorms in the bay area. >> thank you, francis. thunderstorms in southern california have caused severe flooding and blocked access to a community. it happened in the oak glen area of the san bernadino mountains. the debris flow is so thick that no one can get in or out. bulldozer crews are working to clear the roads. rescuers in southern china are digging through homes looking for survivors of a deadly 6.1 earthquake. 81 people killed and 1800 injured in the quake in the yunnan province. at least 12,000 homes collapsed in the shaking. now to the crisis in the middle east. israel has withdrawn most of its ground troops from gaza has the wall with hamas ends one month of fighting. an israeli rocket strike hit a school for refugees.

northern california dog training company. last night we told you about a little boy suffering from seizures whose family paid $12,000 for a dog they still haven't seen. now new allegations are coming to light about the company. abc news reporter has the story of another family from sacramento. >> he suffered from adhd and anxiety. they came across positive dog solutions. they replace service dogs in special needs families. >> it would bring peace and calming to our family and to

our son's life. >> they handed over $12,500 to breed, raise and train a service dog, but what they didn't know is the nonprofit was filing for bankruptcy. despite paying the full amount the family was told by the executive director that they would not be getting a dog. >> i feel like i am in a nightmare that someone would go to these depths with families with special needs children and take their money. >> weeks pass when they finally got a call from the bankruptcy attorney. they immediately picked up their dog, jackson, but noticed something wasn't right. >> he had not even passed basic training yet, and so he was no where near a service animal. >> the dog that was supposed to provide parker security turned out to be a burden. >> he would bite at his hands and leg and he broke the skin at one point. >> and they are not alone. a civil complaint filed on behalf of three families

alleges the company would only spend $200 per dog and then pass him off as a service animal. the family was forced to give up the dog and are waiting to get their money back. >> we have a heart broken special needs child that desperately needed this for his life, to better his life. we are out $12,500. >> we did reach out to the company for comment. it is in the process of filing for chapter 7 braining -- bankruptcy pro tucks. a warning about a scam targeting bay area residents. they got a call from someone claiming to be a federal prosecutor demanding money to clear federal charges. he was told several hundred dollars to clear the charges. he paid the man, but then called police when the caller demanded more money. starting tomorrow it will cost more to park in redwood city. the rates will be in effect monday through saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

organizers of the 14th annual oakland art and soul festival say this year's event was a huge success. the art and soul festival is designed to celebrate the city's diversity. by the end of the day attendance was double what it was during the entire event last summer. as you can see it was packed today as well. a pretty nice day to be outside. we check in with francis and a lot of smoke in the area is making some nice sunsets tonight. >> yeah, we are talking about how the smoke and the particulate matter creates a better sunset. we are seeing better sunsets and increasing clouds that have spilled in from the bay. and we even picked up rainfall in parts of the sierra nevada. a live view from our roof looking out toward the ferry building. you can see the sea breeze out there and the lights of the bay bridge. the temperatures in the 50s and sictz. 58 in san francisco and 61 in oakland and san carlos and san jose. 59 in gilroy and 57 in half

moon bay. this time looking from the east bay out toward the bay bridge. and there is a thick level of clouds out there, but the cloud ceiling is now at a thousand feet. santa rosa and napa and nava dough 57 and low 60s through fairfield, concord and in livermore. so the golden gate bridge, you can still see clearly across the span. there will be increasing clouds and spilling into the valley and slightly cooler temperatures tomorrow. not much. a couple degrees. a slight chance of sprinkles and even a possibility of a thunderstorm. we have the low clouds coming in from the coast and we have clouds from the south and the monsoonal moisture is back into the forecast. the overnight lows in the 50s. 57 in san francisco and 59 in san jose. still we have this area of low pressure and with this counter clockwise flow it is once again pulling up the monsoonal moisture from the gulf of california and the clouds are wrapping around and brenging us increasing clouds and the chance of showers starting tomorrow night and

thanks for joining us. i'm matt keller in for ama dates. the alameda county fire department rushed to put out a grassfire in newark. it broke out at 7:45 and burned three to four acres. crews had it distinguished by 9:00 p.m. police are investigating a shooting on sacramento street. witnesses heard multiple gunshots before 9:30. one person was shot and taken to the hospital, but is expected to survive. police are looking for the suspect. >> a man who lead police on a chase headed to the hospital with serious injuries. the chase ended when the suspect crashed into three parked cars. police say he was dreefg a stolen vehicle. a second american who contract eld the deadly ebola

virus is expected to return to the u.s. on tuesday. the first victim who arrived in atlanta yesterday is improving. marcy gonzalez has the latest. >> the first ebola patient ever in the u.s. is now in his first full day of treatment here in atlanta. dr. kent brantley is being cared for at emory university hospital. his room is isolated and doctors are covered head to toe like this. they say everything possible is being done to keep the disease from spreading from here and from west africa where it already killed more than 700 people. adding that americans shouldn't be worried. >> it is understandable that with the deadly disease people are concerned, but the plain truth is we can stop ebola. we know how to control it. >> dr. brantley's wife and siblings are only you uh -- allowed to see him through a partition. >> i know he was feeling better and so i am hopeful for

brushing teeth we use one bottle of water, everybody. we share it until we use it up and we use it sparingly because we don't know how long this will be for. >> city officials say you can still use tap water to bathe and for bathroom needs, but don't drink it. toledo's mayor wants more test results before lifting the ban. google makes no secret it is scanning our e-mails and despite how disturbing that sound, it lead to the arrest of a registered sex offender. google discovered a 41-year-old houston man was hiding explicit images of children in his e-mail. the company sent the information to the national center for missing and exploited children who notified texas police. the scanning was used for a good thing this time, but it points out there is probably no privacy for users of google e-mail. more turbulence in the air was caused by an out of control passenger. it happened last night. a pilot was forced to divert the plane after an outburst. the passenger was threatening flight attendants.

gloria riveara has the latest. >> for the third time in recent weeks a passenger causing chaos on a flight. american airlines was flying from dallas to boston when a female passenger had to be feckly restrained. -- a physically restrained and the plane was diverted to nashville. she ran toward the cockpit and attacked a flight attendant and she is facing assault charges. just last week a canadian s.w.a.t team stormed aboard flight 772 in toronto. after a 25-year-old male passenger was accused of threatening the aircraft two f-16 fighter jets escorted the plane out of u.s. airspace. and on a flight in june a daughter begged her father to calm down after he lashed out at the crew. he had to be handcuffed and pinned down to his seat. they made an emergency landing in detroit in. 2013 there were 8,000 incidents of passenger disruptions. passengers on board the american airlines flight eventually made it safely to

boston at 3:00 a.m. abc news, washington. california lawmakers return to the capitol for summer recess. they have one month before the end of the legislative year. several big issues are expected to be addressed in the weeks ahead. an $11 billion water bond is currently headed to the move ballot. but voters may reject the measure if they don't lower the costs. also on the table, a bill that would require all smartphones sold in california to have a kill switch. a ban on grocery bags and a bill that would guarantee all workers at least three days of paid sick leave per year. if you are wore veed about your kids playing too many video games, don't. a new study shows video games may be a good thing. those who played one to three hours a day are better adjusted than those who played no games. however three hours is linked to poor social behaviors and psychological wellness. still to come on abc7 news at

will likely decide on a quart you are -- a quart i cent sales tax increase. they are set to make a final decision on whether it will require a vote or a vote requiring two-thirds approval. it would raise $34 million a year over a suggested nine-year span. several bay area school districts support themselves with with voter approved parcel taxes and in many communities senior citizens can opt out of the tax. michael finney says many seniors don't realize they are in debt. >> novato public schools get a big boost from residents. >> a lot of computer

school officials to pay back the money and she figured they were owed $3,000. >> and she told me that there is no way she can go ahead and refund the fees. >> the school district spends the money every year so it was already gone. >> i told her i will do everything in my power to get the money back. >> faye contacted 7 on your side and we spoke with karen maloney. seniors don't automatically get the tax break. >> you have to apply for it and so it is different than saying everyone at 65 and older have this exemption. >> under law seniors over 65 do qualify, but they must fill out this one-time application with the school district. and they must turn it in by december 31st of that year or the tax stays on their bill. the district won't reimburse for prior years. >> going forward you can have the exemption, but not retro. >> they did take a look at the
