daylight will help with the search effort and they are watching the craft that grounded itself early this morning. if you look can you see the craft and fire crews are standing by. they say it is too dangerous to send someone on the craft. the big thing is the smell of fuel. haz-mat crews are dealing with the spilled fuel. this was a lost excitement a few minutes ago when first responders saw an inflatable craft and a rescue swimmer was sent to the lifeboat and it was confirmed the boat was empty. crews believe there may have been up to two people on board at the time the boat grounded itself. the lifeboat is tied to the boat but it is too risky to senator a -- to send anyone below the

live doppler 7 hd shows we are waking up to patchy fog and to the east we have thunderstorms brewing and we have flash flooding in southern california bringing rain and flash floods. not going to be that dramatic of rainfall here maybe a few sprinkles but thunderstorms, too. bart stations are 59 in concord and 60 in walnut creek and dublin/pleasanton and lower 60's along the bay in union city and hayward and san leandro. we have upper-level low bringing in the moisture so as we head into overnight you can see the motion coming over to the bay area bringing showers and a chance of thunderstorms into the afternoon. the highs around california and lake tahoe they are experiencing rain and thunder in yosemite and 85 and cooler in palm springs at mix and at home headed out to

katie and eric? >> coming up on 6:31. in san francisco, a beached boat at ocean beach is keeping crews busy. they look if two people believed to have been on. nick? >> yes, i believe this may have turned into a salvage operation. in the last 20 minutes i have not seen emergency crews combing the coastline as we did early this morning. look at the video: crews responded to ocean peach -- beach after they were called to the scene of a grounded boat with a lot excitement an hour ago with first responders seeing an inflatable craft and a rescue swimmer was sent to the lifeboat and it was confirmed it was empty. crews believe this may have been two people on a boat that benched today. the lifeboat was tethered to the boat but they decided it was too

risky to board the craft because of the tide and the positioning of boat. i spoke with the chief of the san francisco fire department. >> the coast guard has a helicopter and illuminating life. we have thermal imaging cameras which allows us to see any forces that are different. >> now, the reason crews were using helicopters in the infrared heat seeking equipment because they got a call that a boat was in trouble. they found the boat grounded. you can see the boat has taken on a lot onlookers with the boat on its side. we have not seen crews moving up and down the beach as earlier

and mudslide. this happens every summer with downpours in the area. the roads are blocked by heavy debris and mud and rocks and boulders splitting the town in half. >> crews are assessing the tenth of damage. bay area firefighters have joined crews battling a series of fires in california. there are five major fires burning in the northern part of the state. there is a state of emergency because local agencies are overwhelmed. mandatory evacuation orders are in affect for several communities. residents are refusing to leave and staying to help the firefighters. the fire destroyed eight homes and quadrupled in size. last check it has burned 40,000 acres and only 5 percent contained.

breaking news, the search is on at san francisco ocean beach for two people believed to be missing after their fishing boat became beached on shore. crews from the coast guard and the four department have been looking for them since the first emergency calls at 4:00 a.m. >> you breaking news in martinez, the fire protection district is investigating a fire at the martinez marina that broke ought at the former ferry stop. it was hard to put out because the department does not have a fire boat. one is dead and thousands stranded after flash flooding in southern california. a 15' high wall mud cut off access to two towns east of san bernardino.
