from canada, a plane made an emergency landing after a fire broke out mid-flight. the united airline jet was on way from newark, new jersey, to brussels. the pilot made an emergency landing in nova scotia. 233 passengers were on board. no one was hurt. a spokesman says the fire was in the rear of the plane. united sent a soviet union plane to take the passengers to belgium. >> worsening conditions in china with rain after an area was leveled by anering. a woman was pulled alive from the rubble yesterday. the did the toll stands at 589 after 6.2 earthquake on sunday. chinese news agency report that 2,400 people have been hurt and thousands of sorries and volunteers have rushed to help relief efforts. >> engineers believe rust is

creek. homeowners credit the arrest with a san jose police officer who work on his day off to track down the suspect. >> a witness to a deadly bang robbery and shootout is providing new details about what happened. he was in the bank last month when three robbers held it up. he wants to stay anonymous. the robbers pushed bank customers to the background and told them to stare at the carpet. police showed up the robbers took three people hostage and fled in a vehicle. misty holt-singh and two robbers died in a shootout. the witness believes the robbers did not intend to take anyone hostage. >> they get outside and we her from the inside "drop your weapons, get down, get down." the cops were here. they came back in the bank and said who pushed the button? who pushed the button. the cops are here. we thought we were going to die. >> police are still searching

>> it is 5:43. residents in albany, new york are cleaning up after major flash flooding. several cars were last underwater and the water rose quickly with rain and hail. trees and wires came down knocking out power to hundreds. some people with basements were washed out. and the red cross is helping people throughout the area. a shelter is set up. legal arguments involving same-sex marriage marriage cases will begin in a federal appeals court in cincinnati. a three judge panel will consider arguments in the cases from kentucky, michigan, ohio and tennessee and the cases center around state rights and traditional conservative values against what plaintiffs call a fundamental right to marry up the institution. gay marriage advocates have won 20 cases sin the supreme court struck down part of the federal defense of michigan act last year. >> a ground breaking move by the
