live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> people on the big island of hawaii are boarding up their hands and the storm having an impact on summer travelers. goodgood morning, this is the ft hurricane to hit the hawaiian island since the devastating hurricane 22 years ago. it is actually two storms lined up to hit the state. you can see the storm approaching. we have coverage with our

reporter at sfo. first, meteorologist mike nicco is tracking the storm. mike? good morning, everyone. we will look at live doppler 7 hd. we have it running on the big i'd. you can see it is quiet this morning. they have had a few showers around hilo international airport where the winds have picked up. they were at seven miles per hour and gusting to 20 miles per hour. the outer band of the hurricanes are about 5 1/2 hours away from reaching the big island. this is a very compact storm. it will not be like the storm 22 years ago. it has hurricane speed only across a 70-mile span. for that to come in, it will take another 10 that hours. it is moving to the northwest at seven miles per hour and it will not stay over the big island. with that said, we will still have surface around 30' and flooding rains are possible overnight. people cross hawaii are get ready for the storms.

for days, residents and vacationers have been stocking up on supplies. the biggest threat is flooding. man schools and government officers are already closed ahead of the storms along with many tourist attractions. the red cross is providing people a safe place to stay. we have been maintaining our message to the community encouraging preparation for the surf and wind and rain. for those in those vulnerable areas, we will take appropriate action. >> this is a look showing it is fairly calm. residents expect rough surf before the big islands. >>the america are making air travel to and from hawaii iffy. the storms are threatening to ruin vacations. >> two out of the 13 flights from sfo to hawaii have been cancel asked more or county anded throughout the day as a pair of hurricanes threaten to

covering santa rosa, berkeley, san jose and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. authorities at yellowstone national park are trying to figure whether to try can fish out a small drone that fell into a 200' deep hot spring being illegally operated by a tourist. they are banned if national parks. this happened on saturday and an employee let the tourist goes without talking to authorities. rangers are trying to determine if it damned the spring and if it is necessary to remy it. time to check with meteorologist mike nicco who is
