this is abc7 news. >> remembering robin. tonight fans and friends coping with williams' death gathered to pay tribute to the man who made them laugh and cry. good evening. i'm dan ashley. the local comedy club where williams would perform went dark to honor the comedian. abc7 news cornell better marred is live outside the theater where there is a growing memorial. >> dan, the small theater was one of robin williams' favorite places. he performed comedy here on many a tuesday night and there is no show tonight, but there is a growing memorial to the man who many called a friend and a mentor. >> i come to the theater every tuesday for comedy. tonight i came and there is no comedy. >> rachel hendricks never misses tuesday night

comedies. but tonight the doors are locked and the show canceled out of respect for robin williams. a simple sign bearing his name hangs over the front door. people are bringing flowers and taking time to sign this condolence card. >> he was so funny and so creative and a genius. on top of that, he was able to touch everybody. >> williams often showed up on tuesdays to perform a comedy set and always took time to encourage younger perform earlies. >> he would be hanging out in the green room talking with the young comedians and the up and comers and the bigger names as well. >> the marin county sheriff's department revealed grim details. his wife had gone to bed in a different room and left the next morning without waking him. the actor's perm assistant -- personal assistant was worried when he didn't respond to a door knock around noon. >> about that time they were able to gain access to mr. williams' bedroom and entered to find mr. williams

clothed in a seated position and unresponsive with a belt secured around his neck. >> the coroner found apparent knife wounds on williams' left wrist. the san francisco bar where robin got his star in the 70s is paying tribute. it was once the famed holy city zoo. evan chang saw williams here during the height of his fame. >> he would talk to people when he wasn't per -- performing. what you see is what he really is. he was real mice guy. >> a movie star who never forgot his roots and his friends. cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> as a test meant to williams' star power, the hollywood landmark, the chinese theater dimmed its lights in his honor. this is the eighth person honored in this manner. at the theater's history, shirley temple and o'toole is the others.

the hollywood chamber of commerce set a special reef next to the flowers left behind by so many of his fans who stopped by to pay their respects today. robin williams was one of the gentes' biggest fan. a season ticket holder often seem at games. fittingly tonight they honored him at at&t park. at 11 wong is there -- alan wang is there live to show how they paid tribute. gite giants were missing one of their greatest fans, robin williams. in between innings they played his clips from his movies and they played robin williams trivia and before the start of the game, a very special moment. one day after his death giants fans stood in a moment of silence and remembered robin williams on the jumbo tron. francisco! >> robin williams was a loyal giants fan who cheered the team on during their 2010 world series run.

williams because after the 2010 season his visits to the clubhouse faded away. in san francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. >> a memorial at the homemade famous in the movie "mrs. doubt fire" continues to grow. people from all over the world are showing up and leaving momentos behind. cards, flowers and that sort of thing. fans told us they are drawn to the steiner street home because it is connected to a movie and actor they loved. living with depression, addiction and any other illness can feel impossible for those who suffer with it. those at the national crisis hotline have seen a spike in calls for help ever since robin williams' death. here is lisa amin gulezian on the warning signs of suicide. >> are you suicidal? >> it may be a scary question, but those at the suicide and crisis center are not afraid to ask. they have to if they want to save lives. >> they don't want to feel

alone. most of the people feel alone. >> robin williams admitted in interviews that he too dealt with bouts of loneliness and depression. the 63-year-old hanged himself. he said he wished he asked for help especially since depression can affect anyone. >> you don't need to have a particular job or profession or financial status. >> he knows that firsthand. her 31-year-old daughter hanged herself six years ago. they also had what seemed like a lot to live for. >> eventually she just -- she just gave up hope she was ever going to be able to get better. >> ferguson started the out of the darkness foundation. it is an organization dedicated to suicide prevention. she recently asked williams' publicist if the comedian would speak at their october march in oakland. experts agree the key to bat ig ig -- battling depression

a bay area pastor faces charges of sexual molestation involving a child. he lead services at several bay area churches including one in san francisco's richmond district and another in concord. he is accused of abusing a child under the age of 13 for more than a year. people in the east bay are under mandatory water restrictions. east bay mud customers can only water their lawns a maximum of twice a week and use only hoses with shutoff nozzles to wash the vehicle.

the water district says it will not fine customers for breaking the rules. the public utilities commission imposed water rationing as well. a 10% cut for all customers with the water meters based on your usage from last year. next time it meets they will consider doubling rates for people who go over the new limits. a vandal did more than $25,000 in damage to the national aids memorial grove in golden gate park. on friday night someone for some reason cutoff tree trunks and limbs and smashed flowers and the flower planters and damaged benches and fencing. someone vandalized the grove as many as six times this year. police have not made any arrests. the cash hunt has come to an end. organizers of hidden cash announced they realized to continue they would need corporate sponsors, and that goes against their mission. they admitted the game surpassed expeck stations with -- expectations with thousands taking part in the

is cameron and she was not acting. at 22 she is cancer free. she remembers how robin williams cared deeply about the kids in the cast. >> he was such a real person. even off the set when we weren't filming he was just trying to hang out with the kids and trying to make us forget that we were sick. >> cameron was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for a tumor on the kidney. williams gave her a nickname, little buddha because of her bald head. >> he didn't act like a big star. he just acted like one of us. even during lunchtime we would be sitting out on a table outside and he would run over and hey, did you try the lemonade? >> cameron has keepsake photos in an album including this one

with williams including the 12 cast members. there was a real chemistry. >> we both love to laugh and tell jokes. that's what our friendship was was laughs and we worked really well together, and he was an amazing man. >> cameron was cast as an extra, but ended up with a speaking role. today she is a fashion designer of hand beaded mini skirts and clutch bags and his lasting legacy is teaching the value of laughter. >> definitely laughter is the best medicine. in san jose, david louie, abc7 news. when it comes to robin williams we are learning the only thing bigger than his talent was his heart. he paid for a private jet to see 13-year-old jessica cole in north carolina. she had cancer and her one wish was to meet robin williams and he spent the entire day with jessica.

her father couldn't believe his kindness and compassion. >> i can't tell you how much it meant to our family to have him bring his resources and take him time. >> jessica passed away two weeks after this photo was taken. the make a wish foundation arranged the meeting and kept it quiet per williams request. >> we will obviously continue to follow the death of robin williams on air and on-line. our coverage continues on twitter at abc7 news bay area. let's move on once again. a celestial show in the sky. the perseid meteor shower is set to peak. as many as 30 or 40 shooting stars an hour are expected. but the moon and the clouds may make them hard to see. meteorologist sandhya patel is here with live doppler 7hd. sandhya? >> this is the best time to view, but of course like you

said the clouds and the moon may interfere. we had a full moon a few days ago so it is bright. people are asking with when? right now. look at this time lapse. this is one of the reasons the perseid meteor shower will be difficult to see. we still have quite a bit of cloud cover. low-level cloudiness and high-level cloudiness. you will have to find a dark spot away from the moon light. you can see it here, and here is a look at the temperatures. it is still in the 60s from san francisco to oakland and to san jose. half moon bay, very mild temperatures. once again the ocean temperatures are running higher than they should be. it is contributing to the comfort or the discomfort depending on where you are from. we are looking at cloudiness toward the bay. temperatures in the 50sin santa rosa. 60s novato and concord and livermore. one last view from the sfo

camera. we are not expecting delays yet, but could be some tomorrow morning. mostly cloudy and patchy morning drizzle and sunny and mild and a warmer pattern on thursday. tls not going to be a major warm up. the satellite radar showing you why we were cooler than normal. it is the trough off northern california and that has been sending high clouds our way. we will continue to see the high clouds and maybe a little drizzle during the morning commute. certainly extra cloud cover for the morning hours, and then the clouds will partways and we will see a brighter day tomorrow. the sun will be out, but the temperatures held down as the trough well need another day to pass through northern california. so tomorrow morning the temperatures in the mid50s to the low 60s. if your kids are heading off to school you will want to put an extra layer on them. be aware of the fact that even though the green is not showing up on the screen there could be slick roadways due to the drizzle and you may need that extra time for the commute. 81 in santa rosa. milder in the north bay where you will see more clearing.
