sky 7 shows you the stage being set up at candlestick park for tonight's last great event. sir paul mccartney will be coming back to the place the beatles did their final concert nearly 50 years ago. >> amy is at the field with more on the preparations. >> reporter: hi, cheryl. tonight's show is a sellout. but we did find some tickets available on different ticket brokers such as stubhub and mr.

ticket. the cheapest was about a hundred dollars. tonight's audience will be witnessing history. the lights will shine on candlestick park for the last time tonight. as the city prepares for paul mccartney to play the last concert here. san franciscoians aren't the only ones excited. >> i'm coming to candlestick park. >> reporter: mccartney posted a video on his youtube channel. >> i have special memories as you know. >> reporter: the last time he played here was 1966 for the beatles' last show. 49,000 people are expected here tonight. there is extra service to try to handle all the fans and will have employees out tonight serving as tour guides. >> we're going to have ambassadors out at the station and stop so that people can get extra information about their return trips.

that'll be important because there are no extended hours tonight. so they have available service until, i believe, a little bit after midnight or so. but the concert is scheduled until 11:30. >> reporter: police will be on the lookout for people trying to sell fake concert tickets. they'll also be watching for overzealous fans wanting to take home a piece of history. >> we don't want people to be trying to take any pieces of candlestick park. if they do and police make contact with you, you'll be facing vandalism charges. just come enjoy the concert tonight and have a safe time. >> you can't take home a chair? >> no. i understand they're for sale though. >> reporter: they are for sale. they're selling them in pairs for $749. there are a lot of new routes for you to take advantage of tonight. several of them, too many for me to list right now. we've got it all on our website. check out abc7news.com to plan your night. we hope all of you who are going have a lot of fun.

reporting from candlestick park maybe for the last time, abc 7 news. happening tonight, san francisco teachers will vote on whether to authorize a strike. months of labor negotiations have failed to produce a new contract with the school district. the main sticking point is money. the union is asking for a 21% raise over three years. the district is offering an 8.5% raise. tonight's vote would not trigger a strike, but it would allow the union to schedule a strike vote in september. so there is still time to reach a settlement. the family of a girl hit and killed by a fire truck is suing the city of san francisco. the family claims san francisco firefighters and police failed to rescue the 16-year-old. she was near the asiana wreckage when she was run over in 2013. no comment yet from the city attorney's office.

president obama just addressed the growing unrest in ferguson, missouri. this follows another night of chaos between police and protesters. after the police shooting death of an unarmed 18-year-old michael brown. we're joined from the newsroom now. on top of everything else, hackers are trying to cause a problem. >> reporter: they released what they say is the name of the officer. but the police chief said it is the wrong name. you're looking at protests right now in ferguson. the chief refusing to release the officer's name. he says it's too dangerous. that his officers and himself are getting death threats daily. a threat that appears to have been realized, the st. louis county police department has lost e-mail. it's possible they were hacked. president obama weighed in this morning. he says the department of justice and fbi are investigating.

>> now's the time for healing. now's the time for peace and calm on the streets of ferguson. now is the time for an open and transparent process to see that justice is done. and i've asked that the attorney general and the u.s. attorney on the scene continue to work with local officials to move that process forward. they will be reporting to me in the coming days. >> reporter: the president talked with the governor of missouri this morning as nixon arrived in ferguson. he talked with members at a church and said he's going to make an announcement about operational shifts regarding law enforcements later today. ferguson did see more violence last night. some protesters threw molotov cocktails and bricks at police. there have been protests every day in ferguson since michael brown was shot and killed saturday. brown was not armed. today the police chief is supposed to meet with brown's family.

that would be for the first time. police are standing by ready for a possible new protest today. abc 7 news. >> thanks. meantime, president obama says the u.s. has broken the islamic militant siege on iraq's mountain. he says air strikes will continue in iraq to help thousands of people once trapped there come down. the president says the situation has greatly improved after the islamic state's group advance in iraq drew tens of thousands of civilians from their homes. and it's also unlikely more air drops of food and water will be needed. now to the death of robin williams. several users on twitter sent disturbing images and messages to williams' daughter zelda. twitter has suspended the accounts of the suspected bullies and says we will not tolerate abuses of this nature. and that it will expand its policies to improve support for

family members of deceased users. zelda says she is taking herself off twitter and instagram indefinitely with this message keeping with her father's humor. quote, know that some small giggling part of him is sending a flock of pigeons to your house to poop on your car after you've had had it washed. the movie used for mrs. doubtfire, there is a tribute. the owner says he will allow them to remain until saturday. broadway went dark last night in williams' honor. the lights were dimmed on the marquees for one minute. the comic headlined several straj productions throughout his career including his one-man show in 2002. new this morning, students at two peninsula skchools are getting help with back to school shoes and clothes thanks to a non-profit. matt keller is live to explain. matt? >> reporter: yeah. about half of the students here

at cesar chavez academy and green oaks academy have picked up their backpacks and shoes. the remaining 200 or so will be picked up by the parents and students later today at 5:00 as the community continues to invest in the school district. the first day at school can cause a little anxiety for students. new classes, new teachers. and today, some new shoes. >> very excited. and happy. >> reporter: happy because you're getting new shoes? >> yeah. i got some. >> reporter: what do you think of them? >> dhair good. >> reporter: the non-profit is giving all 492 kindergarten through eighth grade students new backpacks and shoes and supplies. the organize started back in 2006 and has helped out 28,000 bay area homeless and low-income students. >> they get to start school with the same confidence.

not only is it a need, but it gives them the confidence. you call it simple gifts, remarkable results. >> reporter: many live in poverty. that's why investments like this and others are helping educate those in palo alto of reaching college a reality for students. facebook recently donated laptops and also $1 million to fund more science teachers, leadership development, and a literacy campaign. students are grateful. they got to write thank you notes today. >> thank you. for being nice to people. and thank you for your hard work. >> reporter: each pair of shoes comes in one of these hand-made bags from one of the volunteers that helped out with this event. and they also put in a handwritten note. this one says have fun with your friends this year, good luck this year. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. still ahead on abc 7 news at 11:00, friends and family

regulation on ride share companies like uber might move closer to legislation today. officials from the companies have spent the week negotiating with lobbyists and lawmakers on new rules for insurance, background checks, drug testing, and more. a senate bill has to move out of committee today to have any chance of passage before lawmakers go on recess. the industry has been fighting hard to block the bill. uber and sidecar has said they're blocking innovation. family and friends are gathering to remember sprint car racer kevin ward jr. he will be laid to rest today in new york after he was hit and killed on the racetrack by nascar star tony stewart. many mourners wear his colors orange and black. he died saturday night after he got out of his car following a racing incident with stewart. ward's father is speaking up telling the syracuse post

standard apparently tony stewart was the only one driving out there who didn't see him. stewart has not talked publicly since releasing a statement earlier this week saying there aren't words to describe the sadness i feel. we're learning this morning the nfl may be readdressing the issue of domestic violence. according to "the washington pos post", they're looking into domestic violence. this comes after criticism for the two-game suspension given to ray rice who admitted to knocking his wife unconscious. they're suggesting four to six games without pay for the first. and a season-long suspension for the second. pope francis is in south korea. he arrived in seoul this morning. it is the first papal visit there in 20 years. the choice of wheels was interesting in where people don't usually hit the streets in

a dramatic aenti-obesity ad is going out today and it points the finger at parents even when the kids aren't kids anymore. it shows a man's life in reverse all the way back to his childhood. some are finding that effective but there is a backlash. some say it put too much blame on the parents. saying people need to take responsibility for their own choices. but they hope this will help break dangerous habits before they begin. time to look at the weather forecast. big event tonight, the final performance at the stick. >> can you believe it's finally here? we've been talking about irt for months and it's here. before you know it, the stick will be gone. let's look at the winds outside, show you what's going on. the sea breeze not nearly as

fast as it was yesterday. we've got 12 miles per hour. everybody else 8 miles per hour. i think the winds will pick up a little bit. same area as yesterday. east of the golden gate. but notice the wind coming from a different direction. ut of the west at 15 to 25 knots. so hopefully that will make your commute a bit better than it was yesterday if you're going to be on the water. e here's a look at the visible satellite. here's how quickly the shallow layer faded away. especially north of san francisco. and that will be the trend as we head into the afternoon hours. check out your temperature. we got 61 in san francisco and napa. mid to upper 60s elsewhere until you get to san jose. low 70s there. along with concord. and mid to upper 70s livermore and los gatos. it's those latter mentioned cities that will see the bigger

of the warming trend as the cool will hit the coast over the next couple days. clouds and fog tonight. patchy drizzle along the coast just like last night. and seasonal temperatures during the extended forecast. there's the cold front that fell apart. high pressure took over last night while we were sleeping and brought in some warmer air. but most of that warm air is going to be inland. so let's look at this temperature. you can see them in the mid to upper 80s around los gatos. the boardwalk, 75. looks like upper 70s to 80 down in the south bay. mid to upper 70s, that's what we have on the peninsula today. mid to upper 60s along the coast nap will also include the bay side. downtown, south san francisco over towards socilito. how about in the north bay valley with 69 in berkeley. but low to mid-70s most of the

east bay shore. the farther from the water, warmer at 77. then mid 80s to low 90s in our east bay inland neighborhood. close to air conditioning weather. if you like classic cars, they've got them tonight and hot rods in danville. 79 at 7:00 and then we'll see stars and 71 degrees at 9:00. here it is. the stick living up to its reputation. it's going to be breezy tonight and a temperature of 61 dropping down to 57. but you know the music is going to be hot from sir paul mccartney. hope you have fun there. 50s everywhere else just like this morning. high pressure will dominate again tomorrow and saturday. then another tropical low pressure will come in. maybe cool us a bit. possibly tuesday. and then wednesday we're back up and near 70 at the coast. 80 around the bay and 90. so no real wide temperature swings but also no rain in the
