>> get this together before the season starts, guys. please. it is a joke right now. >> mixed reviews after the first 49ers game at the newly vie stadium in santa clara. good evening. i'm ama dates. the 49ers confirmed that a fan who was taken away from the game in an ambulance has died. in a statement the team said the 49ers organization is deeply sattenned to hear of the passing of one of our fans earlier today. we would like to extend our heart felt condolences and prayers to his family and friends in this time of sadness. the cause of death has not been released. nearly 70,000 fans were at the first 49ers game at their new home in santa clara, but it

make a plea. lilian kim has the story. >> he returned with his son in his arms. it was a hit-and-run after a night at the movies. >> there is a dwin brother and i know he will be missed. he woke up and said where is my my-my at. >> she was with her twin brother and aunt as they were crossing on friday night. security cameras captured the car that hit and killed her. san francisco police say it was a white four-door sedan from the 1990s. possibly a lexus, toyota or honda. police also say the car had a mismatched dark-colored bumper and rims. her mother broke down as soon as she returned to the spot where her daughter was killed. the family is urging the driver to come forward. >> we are not out for vengeance. we are not out for no harm. the family just needs closure

from the person who did it. what kind of person are you? who could do this? >> they will never forget her smile that they said filled up the room. she loved to dance and loved the color pink. >> she was only two. she didn't even get a chance at life at all. now her parents have to deal with that forever. >> a tragic end in the life of a little girl who brought so much. >> to everyone who knew her. lilian kim, abc7 news. a man suffered severe injuries tonight when a car hit him when he tried to hail a cab. it happened near 24th and mission streets in san francisco. witnesses say the man roone into the street after the cab, but it didn't stop. an on coming car honked, but the man didn't get out of the way. the driver of the car was detained for questioning, but not arrested. moraga firefighters are recovering the body of a man who fell off a cliff and

died. it happened near the steam train. the victim is in his 50s and no other details have been released. san francisco police arrested a woman suspect testified of shooting a tourist in the leg. the victim, a man likely in his 30s was walking through the tenderloin with another person when he heard yelling followed by a gunshot. it was then that he realized he was hit in the leg. his injuries were not life-threatening. investigators are still determining exactly what happened. the suspect could face attempted homicide charges. for the second day in a row palestinian supporters try to block an israeli-owned cargo ship from docking in oakland. sky 7hd shows the protest from above. these people marched in front of the entrance. the cargo ship changed course yesterday when the protesters marched to the docks. those on the other side of the conflict say israel must defend itself from uhing tays

more than 200 people have been evacuated from a campground in the san gabriel mountains due to a wildfire. it started in a canyon above the town of glendora. it burned 350 acres so far. still on come -- still to come, more protests in ferguson, missouri. what is going on right now after a peaceful protest deteriorated. and thieves targeting bay area grocery stores. what they are taking that is making it tougher to get groceries. and later a dramatic explosion outside a gas station. what lead up to the fire and the growing danger that has authorities concerned when abc news at 11:00 continues.

missouri. right now police are surrounding a gas station where there has been looting. clashes between police and protesters started well before the midnight curfew tonight. police fired teargas at people who gathered to protest the shooting death of 18-year-old michael brown. brown was unarmed when an officer shot him multiple times last saturday. one man says he traveled to protest peacefully and says he wasn't prepared when police fired teargas. >> it was really surprising. i said i was going to hang around to see how the protest goes and not anticipating there will be teargas being thrown. it was so harsh it had my eyes really, really hurting. i had to make my ways to the mcdonalds. i was okay. >> protesters disobeyed orders to dispurse.

a special tribute honoring a late actor robin williams. williams died from an apparent suicide in his home. glide church dedicated two services to his memory. williams helped raise money for the church's many programs from sheltering the homeless to helping those in recovery. >> he was very, very shy. when he came to a glide event and he met our group of recovering people he flew to them and they lit it up together. they made electricity. >> williams took part over the last 20 years. >> pg&e will be back to face additional criminal charges in connection with the deadly san bruno explosion. a new federal indictment issued last month accuses pg&e officials of obstructing the investigation. it charges them with 27 counts for poor record keeping. consider yourself lucky if you got a grocery part in san

francisco. someone has been stealing the carts over the last week or so, and it is not the first time. an estimated 70 carts were stolen in april. carts are being stolen from other safe ways across the city. the ones at the marina won't be replaced until wednesday. protests were staged outside of whole foods markets across the nation today including 14 bay area stores all to save the bunnies. whole foods will be selling rabbit meat at certain locations and many in northern california. more americans are eating rabbit as a more sustainable, leaner protein option and they say eating a companion animal is wrong ?ie. thousands turn you had -- thousands turned out to celebrate india's independence day. sandhya patel road on the float at the parade. they estimated as many as 10,000 people lined the streets of downtown. and two bollywood stars came all the way from bombay for

one final foggy shot of the golden gate bridge and you notice the low-lying cloud cover is taking over much of the coastline. the forecast calls for the coastal fog to thicken overnight. that's thanks to an increased marine layer. that means it will be a touch cooler for monday and we track drizzle early tuesday morning. satellite and radar. the story we are tracking, high pressure in the pacific. you notice a high pressure brings winds off the ocean water and into the bay area. slightly cooler tomorrow as you gett a stronger breeze -- as you get a stronger breeze. we have kids going back to school tomorrow in san francisco county. first day of school on monday morning temperature of 56 and mainly cloudy skies. the clouds will burn off guy 3:30 and a temperature of 65. the highs around your region, 80 in san jose 81 in cupertino. 75 for san mateo along the water 65 in sunset district.

the san jose earthquakes scored the first points ever at levi stadium. the niners tried out their new venue and they have one less than the quakes. this was the view in the palace in all of its splendor.

i'm ama dates. turning now to breaking news in san jose, a major injury accident is blocking traffic on east capital expressway at ocala avenue. we are told five to seven vehicles are involved and there are at least nine injuries. abc7 news reporter sergio is live on the scene. serming yow? >> ama, this is a crash that happened about two hours ago around 9:30 and there is still a massive police presence out here. as you mentioned, lots of vehicles involved. there were about eight vehicles as i understand, and there are quite a few victims as you said. between nine to 10 victims and i understand that because of so many injuries involved they had to mobilize a small fleet of ambulances to provide medical care for those people. that includes an air ambulance that had to land to airlift someone out of the scene.

at this point the police are trying to piece together how it happened and how it involved so many vehicles. those are some of the details we are trying to get. you can imagine this is a large investigation involving so many vehicles. it is not exactly clear how it started we have conflicting information. it is a possible pursuit and possibly someone running through the intersection. there seems to be some damage to at least one of the stoplights there. there is a worker there that is making some repairs there. we have been seeing them work on that. we will be trying to piece together some more information, and we should have some of those details coming up on abc7 news in the morning. until then, that's about as best we can do for information. as soon as we get more infee they will be coming out here. reporting live in san jose, abc7 news. >> sergio, thank you. breaking news continues on

twitter on abc7 news bay area. the family of a 2-year-old who died in a hit-and-run is pleading for the driver involved to surrender to san francisco police her family gathered at mission and fourth where she was hit around 10:30 on friday night. police are now looking for a white four-door sedan. a man suffered severe injuries when a car hit him when he tried to hail a cab in san francisco. he ran into the street, but witnesses say the car didn't stop. the driver of the car was not arrested. a man died after he fell off a cliff in uh -- orinda. they are recovering his body and crews say the victim is in his 50s. at church services in ferguson, missouri, local leaders talked about reconciliation. tonight there was more violence. >> multiple molotov cocktails

thrown at police. at that time police deployed teargas and dispursed the crowd and stopped the violent action. >> police just finished briefing ropter -- their reporters. police sur rounded businesses and followed another violent crash between police and protesters. today they are learning more about wilson. tonight we are seeing it for the first time. he is 28 years old in february accepting an ward for extraordinary effort in the line of duty. his proud father wrote congratulations, son. on tuesday he posted this note asking for prayers. he put a covering of protection over family members. officer wilson left his st. louis home later last week. >> he was a gentleman and a quiet officer.

rights violations. autopsy results show brown died of multiple gunshot wounds. president obama is set to meet with attorney general eric holder tomorrow to discuss the swages in ferguson. that's uh -- the situation in ferguson. holder approved the request to have an autopsy done by the federal medical examiner. turning now to the crisis in iraq, they are expanding their campaign to regain control of mow cul. the -- mosul. they conducted nine strikes on saturday and another 16 on sunday. the forces aided by airstrikes have taken over a dam held by militants. a major explosion at a florida gas station has authorities warning about a new type of dangerous gas thief. surveillance shows a mini-van

news near san jose. this is a live look at a major injury accident at east capital expressway at ocala avenue. you can see lots of officers on scene. we are told there are several -- eight vehicles in fact involved in a chain reaction accident that happened around 9:30. one person was airlifted to the hospital and paramedics have treated at least nine people for injuries. you may be traveling a lot this summer, but we are pretty sure you haven't gone nearly as far as the gift a san francisco woman mailed to new york that never arrived. boy did it rack up the miles.
