saying he was having trouble with the engine. he was headed to senator -- to san carlos but decided to land at novato and they lost contact. they searched all night and 3:00 this morning fires discovered a very remote grass fire and they decided the plane crash did touch off that fire. this is in a remote area near hicks valley road and that is a rural area of petaluma and they found the wreckage of the plane and still working on getting the fire out. it is 50 percent contained. they are stipulating it -- estimating it has burned 40 acres. they do not have a good visual so that is an estimate. we are in marin county where we will get updates. we will follow this story. stay with us.

fire out. they do have reports that there was only a pilot on board and they will city want to search the scene to make sure but according to the night plan there was one pilot. he was headed to san carlos. from oregon. he radioed that he had problems. they pick up an emergency distress beacon at 11 o'clock. and they lost radio control and the crews knew they needed to head out into the remote area in petaluma to search. it took several hours, three hours, until a firefighter spotted an organize blow coming from a hillside and they covered the fire, a very remote area in petaluma, hilly and, wouldy area and they covered the crash with no survivors. >> don't have any information of the pilot, we are working with the ntsb

covering santa rosa, berkeley, san jose, and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. developing news in the south bay, san jose police are investigating two dangerous hit-and-run accidents, a day park on the same stretch of road. the latest lat night on senter road with nick on the scene with new information. >> year -- sustained i deadly injuries. when we got to the seen, the officers and papers responded to senter road last night after

calls of a man being hit by a car. police are not sharing much on the investigation saying that the victim remains in serious condition and the driver left the scene and did not come back. this is particularly unsettling because on sunday a 61-year-old was struck and killed near senter road and he was hit by a black sedan. the driver that hit him on his bicycle did not stop. the victim later died at the hospital. i can tell you police are looking at information related to either hit-and-run accident and anyone with information should contact the san jose police department. trading is now underway on wall street and well look at the early numbers and the dow is trading up by 30 minutes to 1686 8. we will follow that online.
