valleys. along the coast mid-and upper 60s. san francisco about 68 degrees in around the bay. low 70s oakland and near 80 near castro valley. we are looking for changes to the second half of the weekend. more significant changes for the week ahead. i'll detail them for you coming up. katie. >> thank you, lisa. breaking news overnight. mountain view police are confirming at least one person was shot following a rap concert. it was at the shoreline amphitheater. police received multiple calls after 11:00 last night following the concert. the shooting happened backstage, it request mean the victim and gunman new each other. the victim is being treat ford several gunshot wounds. police have the description of one suspect and are asking for any witness toss come forward. >> all lanes on 880 are now open following a fatal accident that may have involved a motorcycle. it happened around 3:15 this morning near the hagen burger

road off-ramp. all lanes opened shortly after 5:00 this morning. no details of the accident have been released. a trusted east bay educator is being held on $1 million bail facing child pornography charges. now the school is trying to figure out just before start of the school year. >> 58-year-old mitchell wolf was arrested early friday morning for internet crimes against the children's task force and served a search warrant at his home. today the middle school teacher was booked on charges of possession of child pornography. >> we were shocked and saddened to hear about the allegations and the arrest. the spokesperson for the school district said they have taken computers from his classroom. he has been a teacher since

2002. >> we have no reason to believe that any of our students are involved in these allegations. >> i was just shocked. i wasn't expecting it from him. >> this 17-year-old had him both as a teacher and soccer teach. >> i'm just going to hope for the best for him because it's a tough situation for the family. the principal alerted parents through e-mail and said students and staff might be interviewed as the investigation moved forward. >> he's a teacher that we trusted and that we know nothing other than good things about him. and to not pass any judgment until we hear more. >> he has been placed on administrative leave and a substitute will teach his class. the first day of school is monday. they are working to make the start of the school year as normal as possible. alyssa harrington, abc7 news. >> a santa clara business that helped others, find itself in need this morning. the firemen search for the cause of a fire that sent donations up

in smoke. we have the latest. >> flames quickly tore through a donation store area for hope services, an agency that helps people with disabilities. this is cell phone video. he said people at a nearby mosque quickly tried to make sure no one was in danger. >> everyone was kind of like scared because there's a children's playground here so we were trying to get the kids away from the parking lot. >> no one was injured. it was a single alarm called but because the flames were fueled by clothes and electronics, it took about 45 minutes to snuff it out. firefighters remained on scene to make sure there were no flareups. right now fire investigators say they do not suspect any criminal activity. >> nothing we would describe as suspicious. it's just under investigation right now so we can determine there a cause. but there's no indication of any criminal activity or anything.

it was pretty normal fire. >> three delivery trucks were destroyed in the fire. you see the burnt-out shells of the vehicle among the fire debris. a spokesperson for hope services says the trucks are an integral part of their operation. >> many people are quell -- well, aware of our trucks that go around and collect items. we collect them and help people with disabilities that might not otherwise have jobs. >> they are still trying to determine how their services will be affected by the fire and they are relieved no one was hurt. in santa clara, sergio quintana, abc7 news. >> if you would like to help hope services replace their lost trucks, we've put information on our website abc7news.com. a three-alarm fire on mare island kept fire crews busy yesterday afternoon. the fire broke out around 3:00 in the recycling yard of the alco iron & metal company. the highly flammable material sent you have a giant plume of

heavy, black smoke that could be seen for miles. there were no reports of injuries. >> a state senator said he takes responsibilities for his actions after he was arrested for dui. that was in sacramento. 44-year-old ben, a democrat from san diego, was pulled over yesterday for going the wrong way down a one-way street that's his mug shot on the right next to his official senate video. the office every pulled him over and gave him a field sobriety test. thursday night a person posted this photo on twitter showing him and several other lawmakers drinking inside the state capitol. >> students start back at san jose state monday, but something else is already there on campus. mold. they said mold is spreading through the staff of journalism and some supports have started to buckle. the school's director tells our media partner the san jose media news, the mold is mostly in the eastern half of the building

that has more offices than classrooms. classes are still scheduled for inside the building this semester. concord police are asking people to be on the lookout for a car burglar. this is surveillance video from thursday morning. it shows a suspect walking up to a car and opening the door without a key. that is on olive drive. the owner insists it was locked. he believes he may be using the scanner box that mimics the key fob signal. the alarm did not go off. >> a new warning to businesses about hackers stealing credit and debit card information. the government told more than one thousand retailers to scan their systems formal wear called back off. the warning came last month when most antivirus software programs can't detect "back-off." the most recent attacks were on ups and target stores.

today people will rally against weekend bus stops on highway 101. protesters say the highway is congested enough on weekends with people visiting the beaches and muir woods. they say the stops will cause for congestion. they plan to protest every saturday from noon to one, starting today. crews have replaced the sod at levi's stadium ahead of tomorrow's preseason became but the new field may be fleeting. sky 7hd was overhead thursday as they tore out the system and yesterday they were putting in new grass a key 49 executive is saying a permanent solution is being studied. meaning this may not last. but a coach trouble is not really a concern for coach harbaugh. we are refitting, regrouping, retooling, and the new field is going in. once again, our organization, we can always count on them to do

not the size of the r.v. in san francisco, tiffany wilson, abc67 news. >> we have a follow-up to a story about an incredible woman in san ramon. a loyal volunteer for the american cancer society, cherise beyelia, is now fighting cancer herself. in may she had only one wish, and that was to marry her sweetheart. last night that dream came true. ♪ the bride cherise beyelia walked down the aisle to marry her fiancee, eric sturdevant. she has stage four non-hodgkin's lymphoma and possibly only months to live. this wedding day was truly a dream come true. >> i was really relieved and happy i get to see it through. >> sealed with a kiss. this will give way to a nice afternoon. but you may need your wipers a little bit this morning. the cooler spot in concord with 6 degrees of cooling. 55 in morning. yesterday it was milder at 60. we are looking at the cloudy skies in livermore. you have the clear sky here so that's why you are in the mid-50s. 68 santa rosa. the low cloud deck, see it above the span here. not creating problems here. the clouds giving way to a mostly sunny afternoon. and with the spotty drizzle and the weekend should be very seasonal. in fact, temperatures will be hard pressed to reach 90 today. about 90 tomorrow inland. there's the drizzle t fades away by 10:00, 11:00. you will notice we have full sunshine along the bay. of course, we do need the rain, but things really going in the other direction as high pressure builds in by about tuesday. but between now and then, we've got a bit of a trough offshore. that will allow for temperatures to be pleasant. and really with no problems.

the weekend should be shaping up to be fairly seasonal. as the high builds in, the heat comes back into play and we will be looking at a pretty warm week ahead. we are looking at livermore today in and around the upper 80s. mid-to upper 80s. the average is about 87. notice tomorrow topping out around 90. monday we dip again, about five or seven degrees inland. look what happens by wednesday and thursday. it will be a warm week and then slowly numbers come down by this time next week. so in terms of san jose, we will look at temperatures here in the 80s. and that is about average once again. but the middle to the end of the week warm for sure. the rest of the south bay 82. cupertino, and 80 sunnyvale. around menlo park and palo alto, upper 70s. 75 san mateo. san francisco at about 3:00, 68 degrees. in the north bay more for you in

that's coming up in the seven-day outlook. katie. >> thank you, lisa. new this morning, in his weekly address, president obama #* president obama is urging congress to keep the economy humming. he said last year u.s. businesses that sold products abroad set an all-time record for exports. he added the export-import bank's mission is to help that. >> we all saw local businesses close their doors during the crisis. in the past few years we've seen more and more open open their doors and lead in america's comeback. at the very least, they deserve a congress that doesn't stand in the way of their success. in 2013 american exports supported more than 11 million u.s. jobs. jobs that paid more than 15% above the national average. bay area restaurants can start legally setting a place for dogs, outside on the ground, at least, starting january 1st. that's thanks to a new law

signed governor brown. we have the details from walnut creek. >> it can't be a dog park. >> not everyone is barking up the same tree when it allows dogs to dine with their owners on restaurant patios in california. >> i like the idea of being dog-friendly, as long as the people are responsible about training their dogs. >> this week the governor signed into law a bill that allows canines to dine on the patio rather than outside the gates at restaurants. >> it allows us not to be looking over our shoulders and allow dog owners to come to the patio and have fun. up to now it's been a gray area whether they were allowed in the dining area. >> walnut creek also prides itself on being pet friendly. >> we get a lot of requests by phone and through our regular guests that would like to bring their dogs with them. i think it will be probably good for business for us. >> it seems most diners we talked with didn't have much problem with letting fido in on the feeding frenzy as long as

their owners play by the rules. >> i'm fine with it. personally there's a lot more people that bring their dog out and they want to be able to go to a restaurant and have outdoor dining. >> there is some concern, not about the law, but why the legislature felt the need to take up the issue in the first place. >> i don't understand why there are laws being passed about things like this. i think california might have some more important things to pass laws about. >> the new law takes effect january 1st. dogs will be allowed on the patio only, not inside the restaurant, and especially not in the kitchen. in walnut creek, laura anthony. abc7 news. mountain view-based gag he emis having to modify their latest self-driving car. the current one has no steering wheel, brakes or gas pedal but that will change because california's department of motor vehicle is requiring all self driving cars to include full human control during testing. google plans to test the vehicle

for the next couple of years, so it will be a while before they show up on public roads. would you let someone follow you around and keep track of you every moment of the day? probably not. but that's exactly what we allow our smartphone apps to do. a new survey of shoppers show 50% don't want to be tracked, at least not in a store. 13% say they already get too many messages. 12% say it bothers them to get offers for things they aren't interested in. the biggest objections, though, are over privacy issues. here's 7 on your side's michael finney. >> the app "swarm" keeps track of where you and your friends are so you can meet up. social media is all over gio location now. facebook has a feature called nearby friends. >> it will tell you exactly where your friends are, if they are traveling, where they are,

and for how long. >> 7 on your side intern ingrid is show me the app on her i-phone. >> isn't it creepy to you? >> definitely. i don't like using it. i never really use it or check my friends to see where they are. i think it's creepy, and honestly i don't really care. >> it isn't stalking because everyone knows what's going on and has agreed to it. but there are some apps that are following you around that you may have never thought about. >> all of these applications have access to my location services. >> tyler is showing me her smartphone and all the apps keeping track of her using joe -- geo location. tyler is the author about online security. she's a senior officer and cyber branch chief for the defense intelligence agency. >> people need to read the terms of the service of the applications they are serving -- or using, and quickly look at the permission settings of the applications that they use. >> but even with that, she warns there is no absolute privacy online. >> even these anonymous

applications, they aren't anonymous. someone is going to know something, and there is always going to be a digital breadcrumb left behind. the good news is if you know that, if you understand that, you can take control over that and you can really start to control the image that you want people to see. >> so check your phone to see which apps are following you around and ask yourself do they really need to do that in if not, turn them off. one last thought, geo location eats up battery life, so turning it off gives you more talk and text time. i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. >> milpitas is the first city to provide a recycled water station for construction contractors in the south bay. the city's drought ordinance prohibits construction sites for using drinking water for things like dust control. milpitas public works has set up five recycled water fill stations throughout the city for that purpose. city officials say using

recycled water at construction sites will save an estimated 25,000 gallons of drinking water a day. the department of parks, recreation and neighborhood services in san jose are doing a twist on the ice bucket challenge. it is where people dump ace water on their heads to raise money for lou gehrig's disease or a. l. s.. the park services department thought it would be a good idea to do the challenge in a swimming pool. it's at the cam demonstrating pool. it's three dollars admission but only a puck if you bring a bag of ice. >> now, i challenge mike, john and javy. >> the giants manager bruce bochy accepted the challenge last night after the game with the nationals. giants great barry bonds called out bochy to take the ice water bath.

. >> welcome back, everyone. a live look from our roof cam. don't let the clouds dereceive you. it's actually 61 degrees in san francisco. with school starting back up, no doubt students and parents are having to make some big technology purchases. but there's one that's managed to stay low tech. we are talking about note-taking. abc7 news reporter johnathan bloom explains why and what some tech companies are doing about it. >> almost two-thirds of college students say the most important thing they buy for school is a laptop. but when they go to take notes in class, just as many as ever are reaching for pen and paper. it turns out there is a reason for that. >> students who use handwriting on paper to take notes and actually get the information at a deeper level and get better test results. >> they are citing a study by princeton university, one that can only mean good things for him, livescribe pen. >> it's like a regular pen. you turn it on and write.

microsoft brought out a cheaper version of surface pro 3. they say it can replace your laptop and notebook. but if you still love paper, it shows you are still not alone. >> 71% of people in america use pen and paper for at least an hour a day. good lining livescribe just announced their pen will kync with microsoft "one note" so you can use the cloud right alongside your digital one. in san francisco, johnathan bloom, abc7 news. >> you know, moving on, we are looking at temperatures today near average. we do have some days to speak of by the early and middle part of the week mainly in the inland valleys. right now its all about the gray start out with some mist and drizzle. it's not everywhere. it is limited mainly to the coastline and this shows the sun is trying to come out in the east bay hills camera. the raysy look.
