area. again. >> the 3.9 earthquake hit american canyon at 5:33 this morning. here is a map of the area. viewers including redwood shores have been reporting feeling the earthquake. it is quiet now but in the last half hour we registered 3.9 and 2.7 earthquake and 1.9 all in american canyon area. we asked people on twitter what they felt and if they felt it and we getting opinions including victor from san francisco saying, yes, rattled nerves. and it was felt in marin county from the news, and another felt it in daly city. >> someone felt it in san francisco saying the shower door

was shaking and someone else said they felt it in san mateo and another viewer in petaluma who said they woke up in petaluma get out of bed but corey in west petaluma said did not feel the shaking in west future plume. >> we have someone on the phone has a lot experience with earthquakes and he felt the let home and felt the evening on sunday morning and the aftershock. he is a photographer here. how did it feel, bill? >> this morning it felt like the going of the earthquake on sunday and then it didn't go all the way through to the intense the way through to the intense shaking but it was violent

>> you start and you think, well, i felt this before and i am prepared if it gets bad and i will take cough can try to find a safe place if something happens and if stuff falls off the shelves and it subsided and there was a second aftershock. you live in earthquake country you have to be prepared and it is scary. you have to find a place and take cover and ride it out. then assess the damage. >> bill we are looking at pictures of drown vallejo and napa valley area damaged by the last evening. did you take any steps to earthquake-proof your surrounding or make it safer in the wake of sunday's earthquake?

we try to do that constantly but sometimes we let it slide. >> why mean to say i have done everything but i do have all my cabinets and large furniture attached to the wonderful so they will not fall over. i have an, slow kit for 30 supply and dry food and water located in two separate places one in the garage and one in the house. is to be prepared. if we have a really big earthquakes bigger than sunday, the fire departments cannot get to you for 72 hours. they will be going to the extreme emergencies first and then they move on to smaller things like they doing now checking the houses and calling in to have chimneys tested or they have large cracks. that is day down the road, not

it hit southwest of the napa county airport. that area will shake more violently because it is sediment fill from the river. we had 14 percent chance of a strong aftershock, 5.0 and we expect two to 12 weak aftershocks three to five so we are hitting 50 percent right now of those two and there are possibly 12 expected. hopefully this is not a shock other than it woke you up. we knew it would happen with two or 12 expected and the larger earthquake is still at 5 percent to 10 percent. the center, again, is to the southwest of the napa county airport and that is why we are able to feel it as far south as we did on the peninsula as it traveled through the bay under

the water and for redwood city. i have been checking the roadways and so far, this are no reports of damage to the roads. we have a couple incidents on the peninsula, to sound highway 101, we have five vehicles that are blocking a lane and it does not sound like an accident but they are this. it is not causing delays. pick rig is dropping debris and cars are hitting in. we have a possible accident but it is clear and top speeds mostly. we continue to follow breaking news from san francisco with two dozen people out of their homes after a fast-moving fire spread from a gas station other buildings and katie marzullo has been talking to the fire officials and joins from the scene. katie? >> at the love officials because a lot is going on, the fire and red cross is helping people who

are displaced and public works and environmental health. this was a gas station fire that spread to two apartment build ings. clearly the muni trains running and we can see the fire damage. on this side of the street, the red cross is working furiously to help the 23 people who are displaced, in are still in this muni bus waiting to be taken. it has been hard to get them to shelter because this are not enough hotel room but the red cross said they found a place to go but it is down by the airport. not 8:00. but somewhere to rest their head. look at this video the fire broke ought at 12:30 in the bodyship of the gas station so it burned inside there and spread to the apartment and it burned on the inside of an apartment building on ocean avenue and only the exterior of a building on san jose avenue but that building sustained water and smoke damage inside.

speaking of water, the water the firefighters used flushed chemicals from the bodyship to the sidewalk and beyond. >> the fires and recue is doing their investigation and the department of public health is on the scene because we had oils and hydraulic fluids that mixed with the water can came out and got into the gutter system. they are, withing to handle the clean up situation. >> i have talked with an official from environmental health this morning and he says they believe they funded most of the chemicals out of the sewer and the owner of the gas station will be responsible for the rest of the cleanup. commuters were mentioned earlier, this is quite a public but muni trains are running and the roads are open. this is gas station fire so you could thing how dangerous are the gas pumps here but the chief says this was never a net to --

when you get a big one it stresses the other faults around it and that is what we are seeing give way this morning. i will show you what to expect. we have had four and we were talking about two to 12, and we have had one. strong aftershock of five, and no magnitude that high yet but there was a 14 percent of a large quake and now a 5 percent to 10 percent. as far south as san jose and more solid ground on the east bay into the valleys it did not translate through the solid ground but across the bay and along the peninsula shore, and it resonated throughout the north bay so it is interesting to see the east bay with their own fault did taught see much in the way of shaking.
