>> good morning, i'm tiffany wilson in for carolyn tyler. let's start off with a quick look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. hi there, tiffany. good morning to you. low clouds are beginning to invade san francisco, partly sunny skies. temperature has dropped to 59 degrees. from the sutro tower camera, this is the marine layer just over 1,000 feet deep but it will not last long. 53 at the airport. 67 gilroy. low others. and from the east bay hill

cameras, a pretty shot with the clear sky. 55. it's clear in the north bay. once again, low 50s in napa with 62 in concord. so here is the plan for the day. it looks like the fog wants to set up along the peninsula, but, nope, it burns back. we will have full sunshine today temperatures just as warm inland. a little bit of a breeze picking up along the coast. still i were 60s to low 70s here. and low to mid-80s return in the south bay. i'll have the ticks coming up and a look at a warm labor day in a few minutes. tiffany. >> lisa, thank you. >> developing news. livermore police are investigating a shooting. it left five people wound after a house party. police say three men had been invited to attend a party and then they got into a scuffle with some other guests. shortly after they left, witnesses say a white vehicle pulled up in front of the house and they started firing. investigators are still unclear

as to who was in the car, but they suspect it was the men who were asked to leave. the three women and two men who were shot are not in life-threatening condition. downtown napa was back in business last night and they did it in style. they have declared a local emergency after last sunday's 6.0 earthquake centered near napa. the proclamation made yesterday clears the way for business owners to seek state and federal emergency funds. officials say sonoma county had more than $4.5 million in damages. the quake caused at least $362 million in damage in napa county. lots of people are lending a hand to help rebuild. the aftershocks keep coming. a 3.2 magnitude earthquake hit south of napa shortly before 2:00 a.m. today. there were no reports of damage or injuries.

sergio quintana was in downtown napa where businesses were booming and so were the fundraisers. >> on the first saturday since the napa earthquake, it was a celebration for naked wines and their customers. >> we were allowed to reopen yesterday and the first thing in a came to mind was to throw a party. >> the building was red tagged after the quake, but an inspector posted a green tag. think are back in business. lots of their inventory was damaged, so now they are having a sale. >> we are actually selling them at five dollars minimum donation per bottle. people are coming in here and restock being their wane cellars. >> the labels may be stained and some bottle caps dented but the wine inside are fine. all proceeds go to the napa valley relief funds. a few blocks away, restoration crews were hard at work and there was a line of people out the door. >> i can't wait to get up there and give it a kiss and rub it for good luck for the sharks this year. >> she was one of the hundreds of people that got to get up to the stanley cup. this was an event that was planned before the quake, but it turned into a reopening for the

property. >> we are asking people to donate a minimum of $5 and put it in the cup to get their picture taken and at the end of the evening the kings will match all donations. >> the los angeles kings general manager lives in the area, so he offered up the cup to help. the westin had to evacuate all their guests last weekend and only portions of the hotel have reopened. they expect to be fully operational in a few weeks. downtown napa had been experiencing a renaissance the last few years and the hope is to keep that going, despite the quake. in napa, sergio quintana, abc7 news. >> this morning, a napa church damaged in last week's quake will beholding services elsewhere after a local pastor reached out to help. repairs to the first united methodist church are expected to cost more than $1 million. a pastor at the 7th day advenetist church nearby heard about it and offered to lend them their church for free every sunday until further notice.

pastor said their church worships on saturdays so there was no problem to let the methodist church use it on sundays. >> one of the biggest things people are dealing with now is cleaning up. yesterday morning in an effort to help, cleaning supplies were given out in the parking lot of the napa bank. so many people turned out, everything was gone by noon. >> i'm here to get more cleaning supplies. but i guess they ran out. >> building inspectors are still at work and more than 1,000 buildings have either been yellow or red-tagged. the good news cleanup is pro grossing and the debris tile pyle is getting smaller. a man is in critical condition after he was hit by a patrol car. it happened yesterday around 1:30 yesterday afternoon near lake merritt. these pictures of the scene were sent to us by a viewer. police say the officer was responding to a call when he hit a pedestrian. investigators say the officer was driving slowly, but the 58-year-old man had to be hospitalized. another accident involving a pedestrian is under investigation in san francisco.

police say the victim was hit by a big rig around 4:30 p.m. yesterday at fifth and folsom streets. you see the big rig appears to have stopped in the intersection. the victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. police are looking for a man when exposed himself to a young girl in scotts valley. this is a sketch of the suspect. police say the girl was walking toward scotts valley drive in the afternoon when a manmade a noise to get her attention. she turned around and he exposed himself. the truck is described as a smaller two-door dark color at toyota truck with silver rims. firefighters in san jose were busy battling two fires in hot and windy conditions. they hope things will slow down this holiday weekend. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has more. >> reporter: it took a lot to put out this fire on north 7th street. the smoke could be seen for miles. on the ground it was worst. chris was one of two people

inside one of the buildings when the fire started. >> i've never been in a fire like this before. it was huge. it was everywhere. there was black smoke. you couldn't even see behind there. it was terrible. >> reporter: two buildings went up in flames. they were used for storing old cars, parts and tools. >> the fire started not far from here and rushed down this direction of the building. at the same time a witness said she saw someone look pretty suspicious running down the train tracks that way. investigators say they still haven't decided what the cause is. >> but that doesn't matter to the business owner. >> my body okay, my dog okay, and i am happy. >> unfortunately he also didn't have insurance. but just as firefighters got control of one fire, another broke out a few miles away off kelly road. it burned a half acre. it was a tough fight. now saturday firefighters will be watched closely to make sure exhaustion doesn't set in.

>> when you have higher heat, it causes problems. then when they start doing multiple fires back-to-back, that takes a toll too. those are all things we are concerned about going into a weekend that looks like it will get relatively warm. >> and windy. conditions that worry fire crews. they don't expect to get another break for another two months when the fir season officially ends. lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> two wildfires sparked by lightning nearly three weeks ago are now threatening hundreds of homes. the fires near happy camp in the national forest began files apart from each other on august 11th. yesterday they merged into one big fire. in all, nearly 58,000 acres have burned. a mandatory evacuation order has been given for 250 homes. the fire is just 15% contained. >> starting tomorrow the cost to ride muni is going to go up for most passengers. on labor day, a daily cash ticket will cost riders $2.25. that is a 25-cent increase.

increase also applies to clipper cards. and muni fast passes will cost more. up two dollars for the monthly adult passes and four dollars more for the a-passes. lifeline monthly passes will go up by a dollars. seniors and disabled and low and middle income youth will remain the same. this is the first muni increase since 2009. >> but the weather should be nice? >> yeah, i'll let you know how it impacts your afternoon high temperatures for today and what labor day looks like coming up. >> thank you. also coming up, a volcano in iceland is rumbling again. how the latest eruption will effect air travel. and a huge turnout for a bay area woman who had a brain aneurysm.

>> authorities in iceland have raised the aviation code for a volcano after a small eruption. this morning's eruption was the third in the area in eight days. on friday a smaller eruption prompted authorities to briefly restrict flights around the valcano. the civil protection department said all airports remain open, but in 2010 many flights were cancelled after ash spewed thousands of feet into the air. this morning the first openly gay player to be drafted by an nfl team is waiting to see if another team will claim him on waivers. michael sam was at his alma mater season opener missouri yesterday afternoon when he found out the team released him. the rams cut sam, along with 20 other players, to get their roster down to 53 players. the head coach said the decision to release a defensive end was not easy. >> i was pulling for mike. i really was. and i don't say that very often. but i was. mike came in here and did everything we asked him to do. >> sam publicly acknowledged he's gay back in february. the rams picked him near the

bottom of the draft three months later. after he was cut he used twitter to thank the rams for the opportunity, vowing to keep working for a year in pro football. if not signed by another team, he could be assigned by the rams and placed on their practice squad. >> caltran said work on interstate 280 is on schedule. and ramps are closed for the holiday weekend. crews are replacing two bridge hinges near cesar street for repair. >> >> it's been around with san francisco traffic and it's time for repair. this hinge has nothing to do with the recent quake. it was scheduled years out in advance. >> if you are going to the giants game at at&t park, you want to give yourself extra time. traffic coming from the south was significantly backed up ahead of last night's game. 280 is scheduled to reopen tuesday at 9:00 a.m.

speech and physical therapy at a san jose hospital. heidi's mom said her daughter was overwhelmed when she learned about all the support from her community. >> we discover she can read now and she was thumbing through on her dad's cell phone looking at all of this and she really got tiers in her eyes. >> pretty overwhelmed by it all. >> i don't think she had any idea how many people care about her and how many lives she has touched. >> in addition to last night's fundraising event, a go fund me website has also raised more than $107,000. oakland pride kicks off today. the parade celebrating the lgbt q. community at 14th street and broadway and it ends at 20th and broadway. oakland native and grammy nomination percussionist sheila e. will be headlining the parade today. hopefully many will turn out for

that. what should they anticipate for weather. >> this time of year it's all about the sea breeze and yesterday the lack of it or it came in a little late. it allowed for warm air at the beaches and the opinionins law and north bay warm up quickly but today i expect the sea breeze will be back and that should rule for minute are in changes. maybe two to four degrees cooler at the coast but still a very nice day on tap. sutro tower camera, the marine layer at about 1,000 feet, allowing for the low clouds and fog at the coast. also in oakland and hayward this morning. san jose good morning. temperatures dropped to 59 degrees. the city back up to 60. half moon bay 61 with gray skies and the clear conditions from the east bay hills camera, vollmer peak. plenty of sunshine with low 60s for concord. livermore at 60. 51 napa and it's clear there. the airport no problems. you see a little bit of low cloudiness and we will feature the clouds early and a warm to

hot day again today with above average temperatures in some neighborhoods. it continues into tomorrow, the labor day holiday. by tuesday more low clouds and fog. sea breeze will continue to pick up late tomorrow as well. we had high clouds to start yesterday but it's all about high pressure building into the eastern pacific today. and that brings more blue skies. the summer warmth, microclimates and temperatures pretty nice at the beaches. it can get pretty warm at stinson, and today is one of those days. 74 up at stinson. how about mid-70s today for you if you are headed to milbrae. so very similar conditions, but i think you will get that breeze back into the picture today. and up in the north bay, sausalito, your forecast not much different than milbrae with mid-70s in the afternoon. but the differences certainly come into play if you are in the south end of the bay where numbers here will be on the warm side with mid-80s in san jose. low 90s yesterday. we surpassed this in morgan

hill. but today we will be in the low 90s for gilroy. 79 santa cruz. 85 soup tino. warm numbers continue for wed wood city at 85. 82 palo alto. and at the coast it should be another mild afternoon with upper 60s here. 73 downtown at the airport, south city mid-70s n the north bay some of these reds coming into play with temperatures at 90. santa rosa and sonoma. near east bay look at upper 70s today for union city, and castro valley should hit about 80. berkeley in the low 70s in the water. you head on inland and it's warm at 92 in concord. 94 in brentwood. antioch at 95 degrees. headed over to the ballpark today should be a nice-looking afternoon with upper 60s to near 70 degrees. a sea breeze keeping it comfortable by the afternoon. the accuweather seven-day forecast shows labor day even warmer than with more low clouds

>> good morning again. we are starting this half-hour with a look at weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. >> hi, tiffany. good morning. sutro tower right now with the fog. it's kind of blowing by and allowing for temperatures to dip into the upper 50s in parts of the bay. right now it's 59 in san jose. oakland is at 62 with partly cloudy skies. and some of that fog has moved into hayward this morning. but our east bay valleys are clear and more sunshine is on tap today with warm numbers. in fact, above-average today for concord and livermore once again. a cool 51 right now in napa. but we will be on the way to more sunshine and very bright conditions as that fog continues to push back and totally evaporate throughout the day today. that means sunny skies at the coast. the sea breeze will keep numbers from the upper 60s to 70s at

heading to virginia. the pilot stopped responding to radio calls around 1:00 and because the plane was so close to washington, d.c., f-16 fighter jets scrambled to escort the plane. jets confirmed the pilot was unconscious and stayed alongside until it ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean. the coast guard said the pilot was the only person on board. >> california's drought and the soaring cost of hay has led to a glut of a lot of unwanted horses. animal advocates say many of being illegally sent to slaughter in other countries. a rescue group in hollister is trying to save as many horses as possible, and now they are asking for your help. ama daetz has this morning's assignment 7 report. this four-month-old colt was born months after his mother was rescued. >> the mom was headed to the slaughterhouse. she would have ended up in a france grocery store in shrink wrap. >> instead of being sold as

horse meat, the mare ended up here in a sanctuary run by monica. the haven for neglected, abused and abandoned horses started five years ago in the bay area and just moved to this larger home on 400 acres in san benito county. right now the center is caring for one donkey. >> say hi, cutie. >> and about 70 horses. some are put up for adoption. others will spend their retirement here like sunny, he's 37 years old. >> each horse has a different spot they love to have rubbed. >> the quivering lips are a sign of horse happiness. >> look at his mouth. [laughter] >> jackie bradley from hollister is about to adopt this horse named rowdy. they are just getting acquainted. >> when i take him out of here i want him to know what who i am. >> the money to buy the property came from an investor, craig dooling. the horses come from all over. >> this is cricket.

she was rescued from an abuse case in modesto. >> these are racehorses that didn't make the cut at golden gate field. >> they would be great horse for showing. >> these two were rescued, about to be sent to other countries to be killed and eaten. that's illegal in the united states, but there's little enforcement, so horses like these often get shipped to mexico and canada for slaughter. why would someone give up on the horses? monica says the soaring cost of hay, which has doubled in the last couple years. >> especially in the central valley. people need to feed their families or horse. >> hay is so expensive, the rescue centering is also struggling with the cost of food. >> $8,000 a month minimum. >> there are also the cost for vet bills and the need to create shade for the horses. she runs the farm with the help

in livermore it is clear, as well as concord and fairfield. the airport this morning, all is fine with no delays. some coastal clouds early. warm to hot again today. we are look at above-average numbers in our inland valleys today into tomorrow and then we look for the cool-down. a return to the sea breeze for today and tomorrow. then the low clouds and fog really come back in ernest by tuesday and temperatures will be where they should be. so this afternoon it's all about high pressure building back into the eastern pacific. and that allows the setup for the low clouds and the fog to bank along the shoreline here. but with the warm air, the fog will be evaporated and we will have a pretty good beach day. how about mid-70s in stinson beach today. even bodega bay could reach near 70 before the see breeze kicks in. rip currents a problem again in southern california. we are looking at upper 70s. plenty of sun in the northern sierra. pretty warm in sacramento at 95.

and over in oakland today a pleasant afternoon for pride festivities with mid-70s. a beautiful day. but as we take you a little further into our east bay valleys, here's what we are expecting for the week ahead. average high is 87 in livermore. today forecasting a high of 92. now tomorrow will be the warmest day of the week at 94. then temperatures will trail off into the upper 80s, then mid-80s wednesday and thursday. looking maybe a little warmer again for next weekend. so today 79 in santa cruz. 91 in morgan hill. 87 up in san rafael. 92 in concord." so a warm day for the livermore valley and 95 in antioch. here's the accuweather seven-day forecast. the summer spread again today. labor day will be warmer with the afternoon sea breeze. then the low clouds and fog keeping the warm weather in the inland valleys on tuesday. numbers dropping into the upper 60 #* 80s there right through
