see it right now. well, good monday morning to you. i'm reena ninan. >> i'm dan kloeffler. we begin this week with millions of americans cleaning up from more wild weather. packing everything from fires to floods. >> those fires in yosemite national park. the blaze swelling in a popular recreation area. hundreds of acres going up in flames in yosemite national park. an american treasure. 100 campers rushed out. some of these campers trapped, needing emergency evacuation. the fire exploding in size in the past 24 hours, firefighters say a lightning strike started the fire several weeks ago. in southern california the remnants of hurricane norbert dumped downpours on riverside

county. the rain so intense, their drivers left their flooded cars behind. >> this car here started floating. it's still there. >> flash floods later in the morning in southern california. thunderstorms from a powerful cold front hit suburban boston, two women struck by lightning and they're there critical condition. a tree struck a family's home and missed everyone inside. >> i'm grateful no one was hurt. up to 13 inches of rain in florida. a miserable scene. >> horrible. i have to start over. i'm only 27 and had to start over a bunch of times. >> the red cross said everyone should stay out of the floodwater. and in the atlanta airport. strong winds flipped over four planes and injured a dozen more.

and cold air could bring frost and snow to the country's upper tier. the temperatures today show a dramatic cooling. later this week, temperatures are forecast to dip into the 30s in rural areas of dakotas in nebraska and wisconsin. also happening now, another expansion of u.s. isis extremists. over the weekend, forces sent airstrikes to protect the dam. and wednesday, president obama will present a major speech on his strategy of going on the offensive of the isis threat. knowing isis may strike back eggs pegly because of this week's 9/11 anniversary and syria has become a melting pot of rebels and yemen, they tried

to smuggle on to planes. and still no specific plot has been identified. the long vacation is over for congress lawmakers getting back to work. both republicans and democrats are vowing to act to avoid shutdown and keep federal agencies running into mid december. the outcome of the high stakes mid-term elections will term what happens next. and, this just in from london, breaking news from buckingham palace, prince william and his wife, duchess kate are expecting another baby. royal officials announced that moments ago saying the couple and their families are delighted with the news. there's some concern, kate is suffering from severe morning sickness and being treated by doctors at the royal couple's home in kensington palace. she also suffered from morning sickness with prince george born in july 2013.

company to unveil a new iphone with a larger screen, a wearable, which might be a watch or a bracelet. and a new mobile operating system. "guardians of the galaxy" continues guarding the box office, taking top honors for the fourth straight weekend. it's the top-grossing marvel film ever. the comic adventure took in another $10 million. are scrambling to figure out what is driving a rare and mysterious virus that's on the move and targeting children. >> it starts out like a common cold, but it quickly progresses into a major health scare, with kids rushing to emergency rooms unable to breathe. this morning, a mystery respiratory virus is spreading across the country. more than 1,000 children across ten states have been sickened. the disease has not been identified. doctors at the cdc suspect it's a rare virus, human enterovirus 68, linked to the common cold. 13-year-old will cornejo had to be rushed to a colorado hospital. >> my head started hurting. after my lungs started closing up. >> reporter: he was at risk because he has asthma. will's parents are sharing their story to help other parents spot the signs. >> he came really close to death. he was unconscious at our house. white as a ghost.

blue lips. he just passed out. >> reporter: doctors say children like will who have asthma, and those under the age of 5, are most vulnerable. >> it can start just like a cold. runny nose, sneezing, coughs. it's the wheezing you have to watch for. >> reporter: one hospital in colorado has seen 900 children with symptoms. >> our pediatric floor is full of patients with pretty severe respiratory distress. >> reporter: at a hospital in kansas city, more than 300 children are reporting symptoms. >> it's going to be across the country. so if your state doesn't have it now, watch for it. it's coming. >> reporter: doctors are not sure how the virus spreads. but many are concerned as the back-to-school season kicks into high gear, which is a normal time for illnesses to spread among children. doctors, meantime, are still trying to get a handle on another virus spiraling out of control. there is some good news, though, in the fight against the deadly

ebola virus. dr. rick sacra, the third american and second doctor to contract erks ebola is said to be making steady progress in omaha, nebraska. he was flown back to the u.s. after volunteering at a hospital in liberia. there could soon be a powerful new weapon in the fight against ebola. new studies on monkeys show one shot of an experimental vaccine triggered fast protection and immunity that could last ten months. doctors will test this vaccine on people this week here in the u.s. more than 2,000 people have died in this latest outbreak in west africa. and, a single shot is all it takes for a powerful new anti-flu drug. researchers call it peramavir. taken only once as a shot, it could be safe and effective in relieving most flu symptoms if taken within 48 hours of contracting the virus. the two, current fda-approved treatments require two doses a day for five days to get the same protection. the new drug is still experimental.

a search resumes this morning for a mountain lion that attacked a 6-year-old boy in california. the boy was hiking with his family in cupertino yesterday with his family when the lion latched on to him by his neck and dragged him into some bushes. the parents managed to fight the animal off. the boy suffered puncture wounds but he's expected to make a full recovery. there's a big cleanup and investigation in lexington, kentucky, following a massive explosion at a hotel. the blast ripped the side of the building completely off, exposing the interior of several rooms. it happened about ten minutes after a car hit the hotel's gas main. 60 rooms were occupied. everyone was evacuated. luckily, there were no injuries. this video shot by police in oregon as they chased a woman who had stolen a boat from a marina. witnesses said she was ranting and threatening everyone before taking off for a joyride. that ride lasted about a quarter of a mile before the engine overheated. she was arrested and will face a judge today. >> might be the last vacation she takes for a little bit.
