overwelming majority of americans support u.s. airstrikes against isis targets in syria. tonight the president said the u.s. will launch a campaign to take out isis wherever they exist. using airstrikes and partners on the ground. senior administration officials would not give a time line for this action. saying they didn't want to telegraph military strikes. president obama asked congress for the authority and the funding to train and equip moderate syrian rebels. it is something the cia has already been doing in secret. >> we must strengthen the opposition with the best counterweight to extremists like isis. >> saudi arabia has agreed to host the training program. if congress signs off. president obama spoke by phone with saudi arabia's king ab -- ab dull law today. >> they will expand beyond the mission. >> we are hitting targets as

this was an all out search. >> it was. the search has been nonstop. wildlife officials set out traps and cameras and even trackers spent the night in the field with search dogs. this morning they did find a mountain lion they believe attacked the little boy as he was hiking with his family. >> fresh tracks were found not far from the original attack site in the open space preserve early wednesday morning. search dogs picked up a scent and found a mountain lion and forced it up a tree. >> it crouched down and was displaying unusually aggressive behavior like it was going to pounce at one of the wardens we had on scene. it was an extremely dangerous situation. >> kirsten mcintire says the body of the 65-pound male lion is now at a lab in sacramento. the first order of business is to get it tested for rabies.

>> there is a 6-year-old boy here having to go through the rabie shot regimen which is painful and difficult. he has been through enough. >> they will also test the lion's dna samples with the boy's t-shirt. even though they think they killed the right mountain lion, the trails a are still closed because they are waiting for the dna test to come back and wildlife officials have to collect the traps they have hiding in the area. >> it is too bad for the mountain lion, but good for the safety of our children. >> they walked their dog in the open space sometimes. >> sad for the mountain lion, but i don't want people getting killed or hurt. >> wildlife officials say protecting the public safety is their top priority. abc7 news. >> developing news from petaluma where police are investigating a shooting that left a man dead earlier today. officers were called to a home on sun crest hill drive after a distraught woman called 9-1-1 to report someone had been shot. they found a man dead inside

the home. no one has been arrested, but police say they do have leads. >> a major development tonight in the ray rice domestic violence case. roger goodell announced he has hired former fbi director robert muller to conduct an independent investigation into the league's handling of the incident. that comes on the heels of a potential bombshell today. a law enforcement official told the associated press that the video of the football player punching his then fiancee, now wife, was sent to an nfl executive several months ago. the associated press said the official played a 12-second voicemail from the executive confirming they had seen the clip. rice was released by the baltimore ravens and suspended indefinitely by the nfl this week. roger goodell said they had never seen the tape. meanwhile a surprising development from the san francisco 49ers organization. the team has suspended a familiar voice you may know. radio broadcaster ted robinson for two games after making

offensive comments about the ray rice incident. earlier this week. he said janae rice should have had some responsibility for not speaking up after the attack. a reward is being offered in the shooting death of a pony. the 16-year-old horse named misty was found bleeding in a pasture in santa rosa over the weekend. a neighbor reported hearing what sounded like a gunshot the night before. the reward is being offered by the animal legal defense fund which gave us this picture. misty was the pet of her 4 and 6-year-old girls. >> dozens escaped uninjured after their tour bus caught fire on highway 101 in san jose. just look at the damage the fire caused to the bus' engine compartment. sky 7hd was overhead. the fire briefly closed all lanes of southbound 101. emergency crews walked the passengers to the median where they used a ladder to hop the center divide. they were taken off the freeway by an awaiting bus on the other side of highway

>> it has been hot and will get hotter sandhya patel is here. >> you got it, dan and ama. we will see triple digit temperatures as we head toward tomorrow. in gilroy we have the triple digit heat. as we look at live doppler 7hd fog near the coast, but it is not going far inland. for us, it is summertime for the northern rockies. it is more like winter. a cold, canadian storm is bringing snow to montana. right now wyoming, colorado is starting to see some of the affects of it as well. winter storm warnings are in affect. so be aware of the fact that if you are doing traveling they are expecting the winter storm warnings to continue. they could see record low temperatures. in the bay area a this is hot. this is typical for the summertime. 88 in san jose and say the 4 oakland and 80 in san francisco. got up to 96 in santa rosa and 93 in napa and 66 half moon bay. that was the place to be if you don't like the heat and we are expecting the temperatures to go up.

as we look at the east bay hills camera we saw smoky conditions conditions and giving us the redish hue. the wildfires burning up in northern california and nasa satellite shows the fires. basically the wind flow brought the smoke in our direction. the combination of smoke and the hot weather is causing ground level ozone pollution to be a problem so there is a spare the air alert up for tomorrow. keep that in mind. santa clara valley for the rest of you. it is moderate air quality so take public transit. from our camera, san francisco is visible and there was patchy fog around. the temperatures are 59 in san francisco and 61 in oakland and 64 san jose. currently 57 in half moon bay. it is foggy right now. i am stepping aside and just look how beautiful that looks. from our exploratorium camera, low 60s in napa. and it is still warm around fairfield and livermore in the

70s. here is a view from the east bay hills camera showing a little bit of the fog. it is a shallow layer there. we are looking at triple digit heat. warm to hot conditions for the upcoming weekend. the high pressure is holding strong and it will move in closer and allowing the temperatures to come up some more tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow morning, mild inland low to mid50s and 60s across the region. watch out for the fog. it could be dense for the morning drive. for the afternoon, 100 in gilroy and 90 in san jose in the south bay. 95 los gatos. it will be cooking. on the peninsula, 70 in pacifica. you will see fog. 82 in downtown san francisco. in the north bay 70s along the coast and 94 in san rafael and out toward the east bay, mid80s in hayward. inland spots in the upper 90s. livermore, concord, walnut creek. the accu-weather seven-day forecast, hot weather sticks around on friday. saturday and sunday mid-nineties inland a and low 70s coast.
