well, good friday morning, i'm reena ninan. >> and i'm dan kloeffler. breaking news this morning involving a convicted high school shooter who escaped from an ohio prison. >> t.j. lane is back in custody. he is serving life sentences for killing three students in 2012. >> he and two other inmates broke out of the correctional facility as police rushed to protect the family was those killed in that school shooting as a precaution. and searchers used airplane infrared detecters to find him. he was only a hundred yards from the prison. >> you know, he did scale our perimeter fence. and, again, this is an ongoing investigation. obviously i'm not happy that it's happened. no warden in my position would like something like this to happen. >> lane became notorious following the shooting for his behavior during the trial, wearing a shirt that said killer

on it. and he gave an obscene gesture and smirked at the victim's families. they are not saying how they escaped, one is still on the run. much more later on "good morning america." another day, another stunning revelation in the ray rice scandal. questioning when roger goodell actually learned what happened in that elevator. that didn't stop ravens fans from showing their support of rice, including a number of women sporting number 27 jerseys. >> this morning, an espn report claims that goodell knew since june that ray rice knocked his then-fiance out cold. here's abc's kaichb t ee's kare. >> reporter: the baltimore ravens and the pittsburgh steelers, but overshadowed bit ray rice controversy. >> a very bad mistake made by the player. he could have done a lot better. >> imagine not hit a woman, but ray rice should not be judged by the nfl, he should be judged by

the courts. >> reporter: the former fbi director robert meuller has been brought in to look at what they knew about what happened in the elevator and whether anyone in the league saw the video. roger goodell said it was inconsistent with what rice told him happened that night. here's goodell in an interview with cbs news. >> when we met with ray rice and his representatives, it was ambiguous about what actually happened. >> reporter: but espn is reporting that four sources close to rice say that during the running back's meeting with the commissioner in june, he told goodell he hit janay and knocked her unconscious. >> the commissioner should be held accountable. >> reporter: sources tell abc news that ravens officials knew rice's lawyer had the surveillance tape, but never asked to see it. the owner of the ravens told the abc station in baltimore he loved rice, and the star running back had a stellar record. >> i'm guilty of -- of seeing it the way a parent would see it. see it the way you would if it

the grassy surfaces. and much has fallen across the higher elevations. and low pressure, a tropical disturbance across central and southern florida today into the weekend. and will bring flooding, moves into the gulf headed out to next week. back to you. an american doctor being treated for ebola in nebraska is recovering well after getting blood from another american. dr. rick sacra was given blood from dr. kent brantly. his blood now carries antibodies for the virus. he has also been given an experimental drug, so it's difficult to determine what is helping him to improve. overseas, arab nations are giving lukewarm support to president obama's attempt to defeat i.s.i.s. and secretary of state john kerry is in the region trying to drum up support from arab leaders in saudi arabia. not calling it a war against i.s.i.s. instead, using the term counterterrorism operation of a significant order.

spread so quickly that siding on nearby buildings started melting. it was a four alarm fire, and power was shut off. fortunately workers had left for the day. two fire fighters have suffered heat-related illnesses. a search is on for a pair of brazen burglars who broke into an at&t store. police near daytona beach just released this surveillance video of the thieves using a saw to cut into two saves. they made off with $40,000 worth of cell phones and tablets. police believe the same men also broke into six other at&t stores over the past six months. and surveillance cameras rolling as four masked men went into a jewelry store in england. they used sledge hammers to smash display cases, scooped up everything inside. but as they escaped, one customer worked up the nerve to snatch back one of the bags filled with jewelry, grabbing it right out of the hands of the burglars. >> i think it was instinct. the fact the shop owner was so upset that his livelihood was

this investigation is still in the early stages. the female victim was found on north 15th street between a burger king and the white way motel. police say officers found her just after 2:20 this morning suffering from apparent blunt force trauma. she died at the scene. police did take some witnesses downtown to interview. an officer on the scene said it's an industrial area with businesses around here. a lot of homeless people come to this area but investigators are still looking in to what the victim was doing here. the street is blocked off between charles and commercial streets. reporting live in san jose, matt keller, abc 7 news. breaking news from south offerca where olympic runner oscar pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide in the shooting death of his girlfriend. like manslaughter here. pistorius was
