details are scarce. here's the latest. >> this attack was an ambush. our troopers were leaving the barracks and really lad no -- had no chance to defend themselves. >> the pennsylvania state police are on the hunt for a gunman who opened fire on the troopers friday night. the shooting happened before 11:00 p.m. during a shift change at the blooming grove barracks, 35 miles outside of scranton. corporal dixon was killed, and trooper douglas was wounded. >> the individual who perpetrated this heinous crime is still at large. we do not have a description. or any real information on their identity. we're covering a number of leads right now. >> so far, no one has been taken into custody. investigators are trying to determine whether the ambush was carried out by a single shooter or multiple people and they're

are encouraged to stand down this weekend. stand down is a military term used to describe removing combat troops from the warfield and taking care of their basic needs in a safe area. the east bay standdown takes place at alameda county fairgrounds providing medical, dental, house, legal, and other support services to veterans and their families. >> everything that a veteran really needs to get off the streets. any vet who is homeless or any vet that needs any va benefits that they should attend a standdown. >> the department of veteran affairs estimates there are more than 7,000 vets who are homeless or otherwise in need of help in the nine san francisco bay area counties. an international sporting event for injured military men and women is now underway in london. prince harry launched the competition and helped kick off the invictus games days after a
