i am standing on southbound 880. it is shut down. look at the aftermath. there is the shell of a burned out car and all emergency vehicles taking up the lanes as they try to get the people out of the cars and to the hospital. this is what it looks after the crash. a big rig was involved. several other cars then crashed. we don't know how many. alameda fire is reporting nine people were injured and taken to hospitals three in critical. northbound and southbound lanes are shut down in san lenadro. they will not be open for a while. here is a picture of the backup, the impact it is having. this is an area to avoid. this is how it looks. it will be tough to get through. traffic is diverted northbound

the parkway and drivers coming off the bridge into san francisco are urged to slow until they used to the lane change. >> golden gate bridge construction employees will strike next week if no agreement is reached over health care contributions. workers with the golden gate bridge coalition have been working without a contract since july including raising the cost employee health premiums that eat up 2 percent their wages. members argue they are 12 percent behind the cost of living. the announcement on the strike is planned for 4:00 this afternoon. >> a thousand people are forced from their homes as a wildfire rages out of control. the fire break out yesterday in the area of oakhurst that destroyed 21 structures and burned 320 acres and hundreds of homes are threatened. they are battling steep terrain. the governor is securing federal funding. no word on what part started the

fire. >> families leaving their hopes with a king fire that burned 3,000 acres. the fire is only 10 percent contained. >> a family is grieving after a man was killed in a confrontation with the richmond police officer. the 24-year-old richard perez was shot three times in the chest. the other encountered perez after midnight and told investigator he was drunk and acting aggressively. the officer said he and perez got in a fight and bother resolution when for his gun and the officer drew the weapon and fired. he is on paid leave. >> the first regular season game at levi stadium did not go as planned for fans and players. fans had no problem getting in. great america was closed as it

completely stopped. that is all due to a major crash involving a big rig and a car fire and the big rig jumps the center divider and amy hollyfield is on the scene with more information. all lanes, northbound and southbound are shut down at this hour with no word when it will re-open. back to the map, i can show you what the delays look like on the map because, in fact, we are looking at heavy, heavy delays, and that is the san mateo bridge. to avoid this sig-alert use 580 if you are headed in and out of the ocean land you will want to get around so in word when it will re-open on 880 but we will keep you posted for more information. >> impatient drivers blocked the intersections. there is a crag down considered

area. it is causing a major backup. amy hollyfield is on the scene. we will have more details on getting around this mess. a new miss america is crowned and she grew up right here in the bay area. miss new york, kira kazantsev, was crowned last night if atlantic city, new jersey, raised in walnut creek and graduated from a local high school. her family still lives here but she attended college in new york qualifying her to represent the state in the pageant. we spoke to a long-term family friend moment after being named. >> it could not happen to a nicer girl. she is beautiful and she is extremely intelligent and compassionate and extremely motivateed, really, just a great all around young lady. she will do the traditional dipping of the toes if the atlantic ocean. this takes place each year the morning after the competition.

division title. it is tougher after the weekend. >> good luck to them and the fans. we have bad news at 880 with leyla gulen following this since it happened. unfortunately we have major delays in san lenadro. northbound and southbound 880 we have full closure northbound and southbound. in traffic is moving through either side of the freeway at marina boulevard. the sig-alert is in affect until further notice. a big rig jumped the center divider and it involves a car fire. we have complete standstill traffic if you trying to make the drive to san lenadro. we have a position near southbound 880 near 238 you can see it is a parking lot. there is no traffic moving whatever. some cars and trucks are stuck. they are stuck.

c.h.p. will work to get the vehicles off of the freeway. if you are headed out the house avoid 880. you can see the damage to the vehicle and we know there was a car fire involved. we are not hearing any confirmation of fatalities due to the accident but there are multiple injuries involved. you can see c.h.p. conducted their investigation. we have paramedics on the scene and the fire department is on the scene and it is a mess northbound and southbound 880 at marina boulevard in san lenadro. use 580. that is not the only area with shes. ace train has a delay at ten minutes at the station because of a switch problem. it is not the kind of note to start off on on a work week or in the morning at 4:46. we will keep you updated.

mike? >> welcome back, nice to see you. 4:47. we have visibility that is unlimited as we have a few clouds but not much in the way of fog with high pressure giving away to low pressure lifting the lid off the atmosphere. there are a few low clouds from the exploritorium but you could see some stars and it will be sunny today and at the coast we will have a few clouds and less sunshine than yesterday and a lot more than what we could have this time of year with coastal drizzle possible wednesday and thursday and a chance of light showers is closer to us, today, though, we have an area of low pressure with a cold front and not much moisture associated with it other than passing high clouds and it will bring us the cooling air for today with temperatures in the upper 70's to low 80's and mid-80's in los gatos and morgan hill and gilroy

amy is on the scene. look where we are, southbound 880. it is dramatic aftermath of the accident, a burned out shell of a car. investigators are all over the highway. they are trying to figure out what happened and gather their evidence. they are trying to clean up the mess. here is video from after the crash of a car on fire. this is after 3:00 this morning. it is on 880 in san lenadro. a big rig was involved. several cars crashed interest it. the investigator could not even tell how many cars. they did have to take nine people to the hospital. three of those people are in critical condition. we talked to the division chief on the scene. >> c.h.p. is conduct
