good morning, i'm tiffany wilson. here's meteorologist lisa argen with a quick look at the weather. >> good morning. we are starting out with plenty of cloud cover around the bay. marine layer about 1400 feet. live doppler hd not picking it up right now but from our sfo camera we are looking at no delays as of yet. 64 in san carlos. in and around the bay today we will look for temperatures to warm up once again into the upper 80s. the inland east bay a little hazy due to the fire in eldorado fire. low 70s across the bay. and oakland today more mid-70s. there's an a's game and the last weekend of summer is with us. we will talk more in detail

about that. and when a chance of rain will come back into the forecast coming up. >> lisa, thank you. we begin with developing news out of fremont with the death of a man closed miles canyon road. fremont police were called to the seen around 8:30 last night and they had a helicopter to look for a person of interest but were unsuccessful. they are calling the man's death suspicious but will not say why. miles canyon road is now open. a deadly beating at a bay area gym leave friends of the victim stunned. how could this have happened. and the man spoke with his daughters minutes before his arrest. he kenneth osaka killed 43-year-old diego galindo. >> losing diego galindo has stunned the meat market he worked as a butcher for ten years. his fellow employees are

collecting money for his funeral. >> he grew up with my kids. >> galindo was bludgeoned to death at this bally total fitness center in south san francisco. 46-year-old kenneth osaka, a plummer from south san francisco, was arrested. the police say he struck diego galindo in the back of a head with a steal gym bar. >> he said he came in and a man was trying to talk to his girlfriend. >> his daughter said he spoke to his daughter shortly after it happened the day of the accident. >> i seen my dad get overtaken by anger before, so i can't imagine him being so angry. >> she suspects her father is bipolar, but he's never been diagnosed. police served a search warrant at his home and gathered evidence. the daughter apologized to the family.

>> if the family wants to know anything or if they want to ask me anything, i mean, i'm here for them. >> osako is being held without bail and he will likely make his first curtains on monday. in south san francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. >> concern is growing this morning for a teenage girl from santa rosa who has been missing for more than two days. family members say they last saw the 16-year-old rebecca weaver in her bedroom friday night. the 5'8", 145-pounder is believed to have run away. rebecca has a medical condition that requires medication, but she doesn't have it with her. family members say a recent breakup with a boyfriend may have prompted her to leave. well, the family of the man shot and killed by a richmond police officer last week will hold a a rally and a news conference today. police officials say 24-year-old perez was unarmed but trying to take the officer's gun during a struggle last saturday night. according to the family's

attorney, several witnesses dispute the game. rally will be held today at noon at nichols park following funeral as much as for perez. he said he's sorry and he said it many time yesterday. roger goodell and the nfl broke their silence after many days. goodell said he will not resign because he has a lost work to do, including a new personal conduct policy for players. abc news reporter has the story. >> i'm not satisfied with what we did. i let my self down. i let everybody else down. and for that i'm sorry. >> nfl commissioner roger goodell with an apology and a promise to address the growing number of nfl players accused of domestic violence. >> we will get our house in order. >> but the commissioner who has been glaringly absent in recent weeks did not say enough to satisfy some fans or former players. >> we needed someone to go up there and be a leader, say

their ray rice jerseys. here's what the line looked like from the air outside the stadium. people stood in line for more than an hour yesterday to return rice's number 27 jersey for that the of another ravens players. many said they didn't feel comfortable wearing the jersey. ravens officials expect 5,000 people to take part in the two-day event. there is a view that what the san francisco should do with ray mcdonald. he was arrested last month on suspicion of felony violence. the san francisco city attorney has in the charged mcdonald. other teams have players who have been charged with domestic violence but the 49ers have kept mcdonald on the field. they said they will let due process take a course before decide willing to discipline mcdonald. some agree, saying he shouldn't make a decision until he's charged, while others disagree.

and dropped her off. these are the sketches of the suspect. they are described as two men in their 30s driving a white or silver van. san francisco animal control wants 25 talk to the owners of 8 dogs left inside a home without anyone caring for them. sheriffs discovered the abandoned dogs on wednesday. the dogs appear to be malnourished and some lost their hair, possibly due to parasites. they are getting plenty of attention and food at the animal shelter. >> we have a wonderful staff of volunteers. they have put a lot of attention on them. they are getting veterinary care now. hopefully we will see them on the mend and behave or ali, dealing with this, and hopefully they will keep it up with oxygen. >> the dog's performer owner could potentially face criminal charges for animal neglect. >> a family vacation in paradise or a harrowing escape from

disaster? one bay area family is happy to be out of hurricane ravaged san lucas. they say with hundreds more stranded, the u.s. isn't doing enough. >> within hours of the hurricane slamming into san lucas, this was a scary place. these are pictures of the hotel they were staying. worst part is confusion and chaos from outside the resort. >> we heard so many things but we do know is they are rioting right out there. >> this is a picture of her husband and two kids after the hurricane. they say everyone was on their home to get out. >> i talk to other people from our building, where but going? and they said we are going to the street and try to bribe someone to take us to the airport. >> they made it to the airport and got a military flight to mexico city. they arrived in san francisco early this morning. they say the u.s. government

for morgan hill and half moon bay. a little bit of drizzle out there. you may need the wipers and see how low the overcast is here. kind of on securing the view from the transamerica pyramid. 60, that is mild. 53 novato and the southwest winds picking up to 28 miles an hour. the only clear spot is by the delta and in concord this morning. here's our roof camera. so a smoke advisory this weekend for solano, contra cost ka and alameda county. hazy toward marin county as well. it will be mild and warm afternoon highs. and 7:29:00 in the evening on monday is fall. it will definitely begin to feel like fall throughout the upcoming work week. that's because we have a series of weather systems that will visit us. first things first. high pressure is off the coast. and with that, that will bring up the sunnier conditions today.

but low pressure bringing up some subtropical moisture into the mountains. we will look for not only the cloud cover in the sierra nevada, but that subtropical moisture will allow for the cans of showers and thunderstorms all weekend long in the mountains. so here with the low clouds and fog throughout the afternoon, it will be cloudy coastside. but in the mountains look for 79 degrees. and south lake with the showers and thunderstorms right on through sunday. so as for the upcoming work week, here's a look at a weak front that will push to the south. then another system on wednesday will keep the slight chance of showers with us and bring temperatures down into the upper 70s. so that's as much as 10 degrees cooler for afternoon highs come next week. 81 in san jose. look for upper 70s palo alto. san francisco 70 today. notice the clouds.

the test i mayor is being sued. he wants records turned over. he claims the document show mayor lee took a $20,000 bribe. it came from the same undercover federal agent he claims that gave leyland lee a similar payment. they talked about the civil lawsuit filed by a separate team of lawyers. >> russ, it's a criminal defense case, lack what it says. real criminals could well be the corrupt politicians, but they don't touch them. then the prosecution seeks a gag order so we can't reveal anything we know through discovery. >> they both face multiple federal charges includes money laundering and drug trafficking. lee denies the allegations. they are trying to track down someone who stole between $8,000 and $10,000 from a church.

don't share cups to not share the virus. and keep children home from school if they have active symptoms of an infection. happening today a grand opening celebration is being combined with a free health kinic in san leandro. it's a brand new service site for the health center. the health center has been providing primary care and behavioral health services for over 40 years. up to 7200 patients can be served at one time. the grand opening ceremony begins at 11:00. a major turnaround for the city of oakland one month after turning over the city's billion dollars garbage contract to california waste solutions. oakland officials now say the company will share the contract with waste management. waste management, which has provided garbage service to oakland, filed suit after they lost the contract last month. in the new deal california waste

solutions will now process recyclables while waste management will collect trash and compost. >> this strategic alliance is a triple win for our communities in many ways. it's been hard fought and a little bruise aid long the way, we have an opportunity to see these two firms that currently serve the city working together. >> the city council signed off at the new agreement on a special session on monday. happening today, it's senate coastal cleanup day. san francisco is calling for volunteers to help beautify the city's southeast shore lines. events are being held throughout the bay area. last year volunteers collected more than 17,000 pounds of debris just from cleaning. some of the areas to be cleaned today include the shoreland park, gary boulevard and along cargo bay. abc7 news will come through in a big way to help rescue horses. thousands of horses or starving

because of the drought. a few weeks ago we introduce you to a rescue group that's trying to save as many as possible. up a ma dates has an update on the overwhelming response to our story in this morning's assignment 7 report. >> after seeing the channel 7 news story i realized that this is exactly the right place. >> she is talking about her decision to adopt tank and dobbin. they are healthy, well-trained horses but they were almost killed and sold has horse miami thanks to her and her friend, they are living the good life in novato. >> he has a great disposition and demeanor. i kind of fell in love with him. >> the women learned about the huge glut of unwanted horses from an abc7 news story. the soaring costs of hay and the drought are giving many to give up on their animals. >> especially in the central valley. people need to feed their family

or feed their horse. >> they came here to the rescue center. in haven for neglected, abused and abandoned horses started in the bay area and just moved to a new 400-acre home south of hollister. there are 70 rescued horses here now. monica runs the none profit center. she's had amazing success rehabilitating horses and finding them homes. but she's also struggling to pay for hay. >> now the good news. as soon as abc7 news learned about the situation, help started pouring in. >> i got 600 e-mails in 24 hours. >> monica said people are volunteering, donating money and sending warm words of encouragement. some simply showed up at the ranch with cash, including the woman who delivered the name. >> her name is brenda. she pulled up and said here you go. and she gives me a one hundred dollars bill. >> since the story aired, desert received $12,000 in donations

and heard from lots of people looking to adopt. >> it's critical that people step up. and at least give rescue a chance. you think, oh, rescue horses, they are old, they aren't rideable, but that's not the case. there are so many that are perfect. >> the rescue center does have a number of older horses, including 30-year-old sami, who appeared on abc7 news and is now getting a foster home. >> eats a good life. >> he helped the rescue center buy the new home. >> it was because of the phenomenal abuse the horses go through. and it touched a soft spot in my heart. >> monica said all the support and public attention have given her more determination to keep the rescue work going. >> the story has really changed everything for us. >> and she knows the horses thank you, too.

legends, mccovey, is in the hospital. he debuted with the giants in 1959, a year after they moved to san francisco. number 44 number was retired in 1980 after he spent 22 years in the beg leagues. mccovey is now 76 years old and has relied on crutches and wheelchairs to get around. he may not be able to present the woody mack award for the most inspirational giant prior to the game next friday at at&t park. happening today, you can make a difference by participating in san francisco's fun walk. you can take part of a 5k walk, a one mile walk and the superhero dash for dads. all the money goes toward ending prostate cancer. a disease that affects 1 in 7 american men. it will take place in around 30 cities across the country this year.

also in concord. low 60s and the clouds have moved into livermore at 63 degrees. from our roof camera, this afternoon just about 70 degrees. the water temperatures right off the coast still well into the 60s. we are not looking at the cool conditions there. in fact, pretty mild at the coast. a smoke advisory for the weekend. look for the hazy conditions, especially in the east bay. fall begins 7:29 monday night. after that, another couple of weather systems visiting us to make it feel a little more like fall. the fog this morning, high pressure off the coast. and low pressure is drifting to the south of us. with that the subtropical moisture is bringing some of that up into the mountains. although we are going to see the sunshine here, we will have the fog at the coast. it will be cool, in the 60s here. the fog bank really not going anywhere. to the east of us we have showers and thunderstorms in the

sierra nevada. so temperatures in the upper 70s for the day today. this will last right on through the weekend. so if you have any camping plans there, be advised it could get a little wet there. in terms of those elements bringing a more fall-like forecast, it stats tuesday night with the possibility of some light showers. then into wednesday another system lingering off the coast and this allows for most of the activity to be to the north of us, but just like last week, a few areas of light sprinkles and maybe a tenth of an inch in the north pay. we will keep you posted. lacking at the moisture in the mountains and the hazy conditions toward the sierra nevada, and reno, and drifting into the east bay valleys. but san jose with temperatures in the low 80s. it will be near average today and over the weekend. look what happens the early part of the week. you stay on the warm to mild side. but as the front pushes through, upper 70s thursday and friday.
