involving a tapping are truck at 880 and 980. be careful. >> slick roads may have caused a spinout in the santa cruz mountains with a car crashing on highway 17 blocking northbound lane after 3:00 a.m. no one was hurt. all lanes were cleared an hour ago. >> north bay was among the first to get rain this morning. we continue our storm watch with abc7 reporter, amy hollyfield. it is easing. we may have gotten our dumping and soaking up here. it was heavier the last hour. we are getting a break. we have more of a drizzle than steady rain. shear video we shot. on highway 37 we got drenched and had to turn the windshield wipers on full strength. it is easing. it was a nice soaking. everyone is happy to see it after the dry summer.

app and download it for free at abc7 news.com/app. >> people living in two apartment buildings remain evacuated after a strange odor was discovered last night. our reporter is on the scene. firefighters were doing an operation in an apartment building and they have completed the operation. we are seeing a couple of firefighters in haz-mat suits being decontaminated. they have the roadblocked off just if this area and check out this video. firefighters getting into haz-mat gear. the fire captain said they would not make statements until after the operation. firefighters in haz-mat walked into the building at 4:35 and starting exiting in the last five minutes. two bodies are still inside and they were found at 6:00 after a

report came in of a bad gas smell. police would not release the identity of the victims or the cause of death and officers were treated for exposure to the gas smell. pg&e said in gas leaks were found. several apartment buildings were evacuated and the residents were let back in except for a few. no word on when california street is re-opened. the operation is going to last an hour and no word on how long they will be here. >> two swimmers are in critical condition after being rescued at ocean beach in san francisco. a father and a son went into the water yesterday afternoon and got into trouble in the rough swells. a surfer pulled the son out and firefighters later found the father. both were taken to the hospital. >> crews were called again after

a 24-year-old suber was trapped against seal rocks at the cliff house after a dramatic rescue he was alive suffering from hyperthermia. >> a law judge has been removed that favored pg&e from a case that could led to 12 percent increase in natural gas bills. yesterday, the acting chief judge sullivan reassigned himself to the proceedings until a new judge was found in the best interest of the process in a case tied to the san bruno explosion. a series of e-mails show the chief of staff repeatedly engaging in secret communications raising questions of whether the pg&e executive tried to use the support for a project favored by the commission's president to influence the early selection of the law judge for the case. the fate of the first female fire chief is now up to the fire commission.
