tonight. cornell. >> katie, there really is, in fact, everywhere you look there's a lot of damage. in fact, the half block of park street was torched overnight. crews are now on scene fencing the area off. this is what's left of a dry cleaning business that's now been red tagged. two suspects in custody may be responsible for setting other fires in the bay area. >> a neighborhood awoke in panic when this home on san antonio avenue erupted in flames and quickly spread to bill rowan's victorian next door. >> people screaming fire, fire. get out of the building. so i pulled on my clothes as fast as i could and i got out. >> the fire left both homes heavily damaged. kids' toys and other belongings on the sidewalk. police say a total of eight fires were intentionally set between 1:00 and 5:00 a.m. later, this building caught fire on park street. gutting the bright cleaners and

scorching six delivery fans in front. when the sun came out, the owner daniel ing was in shock. >> totally gone. everything. >> how long have you had a business here? >> i am here around 30 years. >> next door, angela's restaurant also suffered extensive damage. it's been red tagged. getting ready to open in just ten days. he has no insurance. >> i don't know, there's not much to say. >> police arrested two suspects this morning for setting the fires, but their motive is still unknown. >> i can tell you that they are two adult males. one is a resident of alameda who is 27. and the other male is a transient male -- >> the oakland fire department is now investigating if the two men are connected to five suspicious fires set early friday along international boulevard. >> just makes me sick to think

that people do this. >> neighbors in this normally quiet city are now on edge. daniel ing doesn't know why he'd be targeted. he needs answers from those who set the fire. >> thing about the other people, the life -- don't be selfish. >> the investigation continues. in alameda, abc 7 news. more than a dozen people remain out of their homes displaced by a fire in richmond. and firefighters say one person was hurt. after the fire broke out inside a fourth floor apartment on nevin avenue. started before 10:30 last night, investigators believe inside a bathroom. now they're looking for what started it. crews put the fire out within a few minutes. oakland police hope they can find surveillance video that will tell them more about a man's death. the man was in a physical altercation on san pablo avenue this afternoon. he died shortly afterwards. detectives said there were no

signs of visible trauma. they detained one person for questioning. an autopsy is set for tomorrow that will help investigators find out how the man died. >> a reminder for drivers, 10 miles of highway 37 remain closed between vallejo and fierce point tonight. it's part of a caltrans repaving project. the roadway is expected to reopen at 5:00 tomorrow morning. well, right now, tens of thousands of people are packed inside san francisco's mosconi center to hear larry ellison speak. ellison recent lly stepped downs ceo and attendees want to hear what he has to say. live in san francisco with the excitement and the headache for drivers that this event creates. >> yeah, katie, of course, every time this event rolls into town, drivers here on howard street have to deal with the diversions around the massive convention. this year, crews shut down howard street a little early on

thursday and it won't reopen until the conference ends this coming thursday night. about 60,000 attendees are expected for this event. that has continued to grow over the years. oracle open world inhabits all three halls in mosconi center. in a few minutes, oracle's founder larry ellison will give his keynote address. it comes days after announcing he's stepping down as ceo. but attendees say he's still the guy in charge. >> may have stepped down as ceo, but he's creating another position for himself. not really out of the picture. >> the 70-year-old ellison reli relinquished the ceo title and said those responsibilities would be taken on by safra catz and mark hurd. he has sometimes been criticized as being flamboyant with his money. among the items on display here on the plaza that was built on howard street is the winning

catamaran from last year's winning cup competition. and remember, he pushed hard to have america's cup hosted here in san francisco. and last year was even late to one of his keynote addresses because he was watching one of those races just down the way. reporting live in san francisco, abc 7 news. >> i remember that. people not too thrilled with it. well, firefighters credit rain and more humidity with helping them keep a massive wildfire from growing in the sierra. they've spent the past two weeks battling the king fire in el dorado county. flames have burned 152 square miles of dense forest and destroyed more than ten homes. officials report the fire is now 87% contained. 4800 firefighters remain on the front line, down from the peak of 8,000 firefighters. suspected arsonist remains in jail. there was a full house at a concert to raise money for napa earthquake relief this afternoon.

marks the end of a four-day celebration to support businesses and people affected by the august 24th quake. organizers want people to know downtown napa is very much open for business. and they wanted to list the spirits of the locals. all of the money raised will go to support those in need. nearly everyone involved in producing the event volunteered their time and resources. city and county leaders in napa are looking for pictures and video of quake damage. they say they're having a hard time documenting damage because it's so widespread. if you have any video or pictures, you can send that to info at cityofnapa.org. walkers and runners helping to fight breast cancer today. they were taking part in the annual susan g. komen foundation race for the cure. the money raised will help pay for services for breast cancer patients in the bay area and fund research to test african-american women. the disease occurs less in african-american communities, but the women there are more

serbia held its first gay pride parade in four years thanks to the help of police armed with water cannons and armored vehicles. demonstrators lined the street

to protest the parade. this video shows officers clashing with several of them. two officers were injured. protesters also attacked a liberal tv station with smoke bombs before setting fire to a bus. the parade was banned in 2010 after a right wing group attacked parade goers. political analysts say the serbian government wanted to send a strong message that it respects human life and personal freedom. serbia is seeking membership to the european union. a sacramento area pastor hopes living among the homeless will raise enough money so the homeless can stay warm and dry during the fall and winter. headed to downtown sacramento after this morning's church services. he plans to spend up to two weeks living as a homeless man. the goal is to raise $100,000 for a program called winter sanctuary. >> the whole program started with the faith community's involvement. and we don't want to see that die. and it's very passionate in our hearts to keep it going. so we've taken on this challenge

the coast guard credits life jackets with saving the lives of seven people after their boat capsized after florida's gulf coast. showing the overturned boat 4 miles offshore. the passengers included three children under the age of 5. the coast guard and firefighters found the boat by pinging the cell phones. >> they did everything right. they had enough wherewithal for flotation devices. >> there was activity we haven't seen before. >> the law in florida requires

children under the age of 6 to wear life jackets at all times when aboard a small boat. the group happened to be taking part in a children's fishing tournament. a stranger helped save a woman's dog in santa cruz as it nearly drowned in rough waves. here's a picture from our media partner, the santa cruz sentinel showing clayton knight who saved magnolia, the labrador retriever. tried to follow her owner into the waves at pleasure point. they swept the dog out into the cove, swallow, of course, screaming for help. he was passing by on his bike, slid down a steep cliffside and dove in. he was able to shove the dog on to the rocks and pull himself free at another cove. the only reward he would accept was a cup of hot tea. close call. all right. let's get a check of the forecast. sounds like the ocean was a little treacherous in some places. it's going to be nice beach weather, huh? >> it will be. later next week. temperatures are going to warm up pretty quickly by thursday and friday.

i'll show you the 7-day forecast in one second. we'll show you cloud cover overhead. we had some early afternoon showers, they have fizzled out in the inland spots and generally most areas are just dry with peeks of sunshine. we'll show you that the sun is setting over the next half hour or so and the clouds are thickening across the bay area. 60s in most spots right now. san francisco to oakland. 68 in san jose, morgan hill, 67. and half moon bay at 64 degrees. a little bit of rain was there this afternoon, the rain has departed, clearing skies and the higher elevations. and temperatures in the 60s and low 70s. concord, livermore, the warmest spots all coming in in the low 70s. one final look from our explore toi camera. the forecast will call for filtered sunshine over the next hour or so as the sun sets. it's breezy and cloudy for the next 12 hours or so overnight and we'll track that autumn warmth arriving. our satellite imagery.

we'll show you the reason why we're seeing the clouds right now, low pressure over nevada. will bring us those clouds overnight and early monday morning. we are watching a cold front. that's diving in from our north and west. this cold front right here, going to sweep out all this cloud cover by monday afternoon. and high pressure will build. and that will be the muscle maker of the weather. and that'll bring you the warmth and sunshine. as you take a look at the temperature in the east bay, look at this. start off in the 70s for monday and tuesday and then temperatures take off. 88 for thursday. going into the low 90s by friday. our forecast animation. as we take a look at monday, coastal clouds out there. the clouds will hang right along the coast. but most spots tomorrow monday afternoon, lots of sunshine in the forecast by 4:00. overnight lows, we'll see 60 in san francisco, 57 san mateo, 58 in palo alto. 54 in fairfield. highs for your monday, 76 in san jose, 74 santa clara.

under mainly sunny skies, the peninsula will start off with clouds and turn to sunshine by the afternoon. 75, redwood city. 73 for san mateo. 70 for downtown san francisco, 65 daily city. 80 santa rosa. 78 for napa. 74 as we head toward san lean o leandro, 73 for newark, 73, union city. and one final stop on our map. 79 pittsburgh, 77 for pleasanton and 79 for livermore. the 7-day forecast, the early morning clouds burning off for sunshine and then high pressure moves in. that means lots of sunshine on the 7-day and temperatures going into the 90s inland thursday. the 90s friday by the bay and on the coast, nice and warm. and that's 10 to 20 degrees above average for this time of the year. >> yikes. i was getting out my rain coat. >> now you put it away. >> need to keep everything else. >> there you go. >> this abc 7 sports report.
