of pittsburgh tonight where authorities found an explosive device forcing an emergency shelter in place. good evening. i'm katie. people who live near pit pits high school between central avenue and mcarthur avenue where the possible bomb was found had to take cover in their homes tonight. alyssa harrington is live at the scene. alyssa? >> reporter: the bomb squad detonated the device and the impact left this hole in the grass across from the high school. it is a foot and a half deep. here is what we know. the shelter in place has been lifted, but authorities were called to a vacant apartment over here on summer street about 9:30. they found what appeared to be a homemade explosive device. they were a couple of road flares taped together.

residents near the high school were ordered to shelter in place, lock their doors and windows. the walnut creek bomb squad moved the device to this area away from homes and exploded it. nobody was hurt. no arrests have been made, but the investigation is on going. live in pittsburgh, alyssa harrington, abc7 news. >> thank you. developing news in san francisco, police say a bicyclist is badly hurt after being hit by a car just within the last hour. it happened on the embarcadero near hair ri son street. police are on the scene looking for clues. no word at this point on the injured bicyclist a condition. but that person has been taken to a trauma center. two men are under arrest tonight. they are accused of setting eight fires in alameda and now police are looking to see if they are connected to a series of fires in oakland. a community in alameda is reeling. home and businesses are burned by what fire investigators say are a pair of arson nies.

center. they are hosted at three nearby hotels and union square. in san francisco, abc7 news. >> another traffic note for you right now. 10 miles of highway 37 remain closed between vallejo and sears point, but only for two more hours. it is part of a cal trans repaving project. it is expected to reopen at 1:00 a.m. some help for the struggling doctor's medical center in san pablo. governor brown signed a bill giving the facility $3 million. the money will help while the hospital seeks long-term funding. the hospital faced a series of cutbacks including diverting ambulances to other facilities. the governor is l signed a bill that backers call america's first yes means yes law. is it aimed at combating sexual assaults on college campuses. the new law defines laws as both parties must consent to sexual activity. it would place limits on the

unmanned surveillance drones by police. let's check the forecast as we start a new week. abc7 news meteorologist with the heat wave that is coming. >> we were cloudy and on the cool side. live doppler 7hd and the clouds that we had are not giving way to any precipitation at this hour. looking at highs today, we were well below normal. generally see a lot of 70s on the graphic. the warmest temperature was 80 in fairfield. this is the coolest day we have on the seven-day forecast. it is only warming up from here. the bus stop as you are headed out, we are dry with peaks of sunshine around the coast and bay. temperatures in the upper 50s to the mid60s. we will talk much more about how warm we will get and when the heat wave will be. katie? >> thank you. it is not good news for the drought. that drought is making fighting fires more difficult. and it is causing problems for the state's crops as well. the almond, grape and orange output are expected to be

much of the day is responsible for an area of low pressure that is slow to depart. it has nothing to get it out of here. in the next 24 hours we will watch this cold front. it will slide from the north and we on monday afternoon. it will push the low to the east and get these clouds out of here. then we await the arrival of high pressure building in the pacific. it will bring a dome of heat midweek, and it will bring the autumn warmth. as we look at the temperature trend in san francisco we will start off pretty normal. temperatures will be in the 70s and we gradually rise above the average high of 73. and then on friday is when the peak of the heat comes in. we are in the mid80s and then we will slowly cool into the weekend. in the east bay we will see warmer temperatures. by friday we are getting to about 90 degrees. a lot of spot will hit ninety or even close to triple digits in our inland spot. the heat is short lived, but it will be intense on friday. as we look at the fore cay, a little coastal clouds early on
