mcdonald apparently called a police officer before or about the time the call was made and that the officer actually twoent his home. we don't know if he was on duty or off duty at the time but the police sources tell us he should not have gone to the house and should have advised mcdonald to call 911 if he didn't. now, police referred us to the d.a.for a response. the d.a.has the police investigation and have to see whether they can take this case to trial. >> the district attorney will decide what to do with ray mcdonald. they they decide not to prosecute? or conduct their own

investigation with the evidence collected so far? a call said he was abusing his pregnant fiancee. lawyers say there is good reason for the delay. the star in the national spotlight because of his own domestic violence problems. police wanted to be sure they covered everything before sending a report to the d.a. another reason may be that his fiancee does not want to testify against him in court. >> that is, i think, normal. it's most of the time survivors don't want to end the relationship they want at back to yous to stop. >> teammates have reportedly told investigators they will be

entero virus but the symptoms are harsh. with the flu but without a fever. hospitals are beginning to see more children coming down with entero virus. >> it sounds like it's a possibility he has it. we don't know for sure. >> lisa's children are healthy but her 3-year-old nephew is at children's hospital where the virus d 68 has been detected. >> this morning we just have been notified there are two confirmed cases of entero virus. >> there have been no deaths in the u.s. related to the virus but what is alarming is that there have been several cases of leg paralysis in colorado. >> my understanding is that nine of those have been reported and have been investigated and four of those nine tested positive for this virus. >> two cases confirmed were both children who did not suffer paf ral sis, now recovering the entero virus has been confirmed in 43 states. nine cases in california.

so far, only children admitted into hospitals are being tested for the virus. >> what happens when one -- how do they make them better? >> there is no treatment for vaccine for entero virus d 68. doctors say children with asthma are more prone to the virus and in west oakland, the asthma rates are seven times higher than the state's average. brandon is one of the kids. >> difficulty breathing. he's running a lot he seems fine now. >> health officials say the best combatant is washing hands with soap and water. they're expecting to see more cases in northern california up with to 60 test results still pending. >> public health officials have been reviewing cases of suspected entero rierus to learn more about how to treat it and stop it from spreading. abc7 news talked with a

neurologyist for recommendations. >> it can cause respiratory distress and newer logical da damage paralysis has people concerned and in most cases it can't be reversed. d 68 is one of hundreds of strains of the virus but can be one of the most alarming because it leads to paralysis in children. he has been reviewing cases for the state health department. >> there are different severities of weakness. some may infect 1, 2, 3, 4 limbs but the virus does stop on its own at some point. >> the doctor doesn't want to alarm the public as reported cases are rare. but as with any virus, spread can be controlled by simple hand

washing with soap and water which is said to be better than alcohol-based sanitizers. this 4-year-old developed similars similar to entero virus. left arm as flaccid paralysis >> you can see a little kid that wants to climb. and there are things they can't do. >> she says the symptoms are similar to the strain surfaced in the bay aefr, however, her mother says her daughter was never diagnosed. dr. van herron says parents and teachers need to be on the lookout to help prevent it's spread. >> patients have a fever, they often have headache, neck pain, back pain or pain in the limbs. that either accompanies or immediately, i mean within hours, precedes weakness.

sheriff officials arrested three teenagers of breaking into a chicken ranch and killing 900 chickens. saying the three teenagers used golf clubs to kill the birds found dead yesterday morning deputies say they told others about the crime, then posted on social media which led to their arrests. all three now charged with burglary and felony animal cruelty. >> the former police chief credited with making an jose one of the safest large cities in the county was remembered in a public mem wril today. friends and former colleagues gathered at california theater to pay tribute to joseph mcnamara, a staunch critic of assault weapons and the war on drugs in 1970s and 80s. >> those things started with him long before fashionable. a lot of the issues were drug legalization. things you see happening today
