the weather app. you can also find more information at abc7news.com/app. we have breaking news for you right now. a rescue of some sort i believe this is in san francisco. we are told that these are firefighters in san francisco and this is on telegraph hill. this is actually right around the corner from our building here. >> yes. and it looks like they got the ladder out. trying to rescue someone and that's a very steep hill. so hopefully everyone is being careful. it looks like the man is coming down with the assistance of two firefighters. one in front, one behind. he certainly isn't wearing very much with that i don't know if he was sun bathing up there. >> they said he was combative, so -- perhaps he was sleeping up there. in any case, he's coming down and he'll be just fine. this is happening in san francisco right now.

right now new this morning, san jose police are investigating after a driver hit a pedestrian. sky 7 was up over the scene earlier. the intersection has since reopened. police did not release the girl's age and do say she'll be okay. the driver is cooperating with the investigation. a broken water main in san francisco bay view district created a huge mess. several homes were flooded as streets turned in to rivers. matt keller has more. >> reporter: the trouble started bubbling over just after midnight in san francisco near key avenue. a 12 inch water main ruptured sending millions of gallons gushing in to about a half dozen homes. >> never seen nothing quite like it. >> reporter: crews worked repair the section of damaged pipe. earlier that morning, a sinkhole started forming.

a tow truck was called in to save a car. residents did what they could to keep the wet stuff out of their dry homes. the fire department got creative. >> just take a three inch line, charge it with water from the high drand and it works. >> reporter: the repairs lasted long into the morning. workers say they see about 100 water main breaks a year. but one will bthis big is rare. >> this is on the more severe side. many are smaller pipes that release less walk that affect fewer. so this is on the high side definitely. we'll have one or two a year that are this severe. >> reporter: water is expected to be rehe stostored to all cus today and the damage for all the the mess will go to the city. matt keller, abc 7. and a journalist covering the ebola crisis in africa is being evacuated to the u.s. after testing positive for ebola. also another american is being treated at a washington, d.c.

hospital for ebolalike symptoms. it that case is confirmed, it would be the fifth case of ebola in the u.s. elizabeth herr has more. >> reporter: ashoka mukpo is a freelance cameraman and writer hired as part of a team reporting on ebola in liberia. on wednesday, he had a slight fever, suffering fatigue and aches. 12 hours later, he tested positive for the disease. originally from rhode island, mukpo's family says his passion for human rights drew him to liberia. >> his symptoms are mild, so we're optimistic it will be done in a timely manner, although of course it's extremely nerve-racking. >> reporter: he had been working in liberia for three years and last month he wrote on face bike his time showed him how unpredictable and fraught with danger life can be.

>> it's not impossible that other people will come back from fr having been exposed and develop ebola here. >> reporter: head of the cdc is confident the situation is under control. this morning the dallas apartment where another ebola patient, thomas eric duncan, was visit being family be cleaned for the first time. overnight the hospital treating duncan said in a statement they have identified a flaw in the way his medical records were handled. they say the internal procedures prevented the proper information about his travel history from being relayed to doctors. and of the 100 people who may have come in contact with duncan, girls say most have been interviewed and still no one is showing symptoms. elizabeth herr, abc news, dallas. we're just about an hour away from game one in

washington, d.c.. >> they will be in d.c.. giants are riding some momentum after playing a great game against the pirates on wednesday when they won, i can watch the grand slam over and over again. and game two tim hudson, starting pitcher. he spoke about the strategy. >> just coming up with a good game plan, watching a lot of video, seeing what their strengths and weaknesses are. and come up with a good game plan. >> giants have won eight straight playoff games going back to 2012. first two games are played in washington, d.c.. game three will be at the giants ballpark on monday. sky 7 just flew over the ballpark and caught the grounds crew getting ready. so exciting. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson joins us there outside the ballpark with the way fans are gearing up. >> reporter: excitement is in the air.

we saw fans line up to get postseason gear and they're welcoming fans to watch the game on tv. when the giants trounced upon the pirates, the team returned october swagger to their fans. >> i'm feeling like we're going to win. >> feeling really strong. confident. healthy, rested. and like most san francisco giants fans, just excited for one more game. >> reporter: decked out in orange and black, the type of confidence that comes from cheering on a team that knows how to win. especially in october of even years. >> i don't want to jinx us, but you know what we want. >> i think they're on the every other year schedule right now. and this is 2014. so we're scheduled to go all the way. >> reporter: over in the mission, double play bar and glil is preparing for more than 100 people to park themselves into booths and around the bar.

we have an unusual rescue. a 6 week old elephant fell over trying to climb out of a small ditch. the zoo keepers didn't rescue her because two grown up elephants, they use their trunks to roll him over and help the baby get back on the feet. not clear whether one was her mother, but it looks like she's
