united states. we are joined where our reporter in dallas where the patient dayed. we learned the hospital will follow the centers for disease control recommendation and cremate thomas eric duncan dying just before 8:00 a.m. in an isolation unit in this hospital. his girlfriend said today she is angry their son didn't get to say goodbye. high lost his battle with ebola virus. >> i am deeply saddened. we prayed and hoped it would not happen. >> his girlfriend told abc on the phone that she was worried. >> i want him taken care of. the other americans that came from africa, do they get the same medicine? >> according to the family this weekend duncan was unconscious sedated and on dialysis with kidney failure at this hospital. on saturday, duncan was given an

experimental drug, different from the one used to treat the first two ebola virus parents. that antiviral medication given to duncan had not been tested on humans. his family questioning if the health system failed leading up to this. first, sending duncan him from the hospital when he initially sought treatment only to be admitted by ambulance days later. >> hospital officials knew all along he had come from ebola virus infected country but that information wasn't shared. >> the hospital did not detect this right away. that minute that he was not given the benefit of early treatment. he was sent in the community where he could spread the disease. >> officials are monitoring 50 people what came in contact with duncan while he was contagious. so far, no one is showing symptoms. because of ebola virus concerns, officials announced that extra precautions are being put in place at five of the busiest airplanes in the united

states. starting with john f. kennedy this weekend passengers traveling from west africa have to answer a medical questionnaire and have their temperatures screened. happening right now, all of cal firefighting aircraft are grounded to be checked for safety problems after the death of a pilot weapon his tanker crashed while battling a fire knee yosemite. we are joined from hollister air base. >> the sister plane of the air tanker that crashed is still at the tarmac number 80. it is one of the 22 other cal fire air tankers grounded until they cleared to fight fires. the site in yosemite is huge, a quarter-mile long. cal fire lost contact with the air tanker, number 81, at 4:30 yesterday afternoon while it was fighting the dog rock fire threatening dozens of homes in

from the giant ballpark as fans were threing the became when officers spotted three men breaking into an s.u.v. and police say one of the men refused to drop his gun and an officer fired, killing him. the medical examiner says that 26-year-old was killed. the officer feared for his safety. >> the officer called for him to drop the weapon. at some point, the officer felt threatened. in defense of his own life he fired upon the we suspect with the firearm and struck him. >> a second suspect was also hit by gunfire and he was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. a third suspect ran away from the seep but was caught a short time later by police. >> a mystery this morning in san francisco, somehow, deadly carbon dioxide gas filled an apartment building setting off alarms and forcing tenants to

evacuate. our reporter has the story from the parkside district the. >> it wasn't the kind of alarm that is familiar and when it went off at 5:00 a.m. in the san francisco apartment building some almost ignored it. >> i heard the beaching but i didn't connect it to anything and he woke me up saying there were firemen at the door. >> the beaching was coming from the carbon monoxide detectors which do not sound like the usual smoke detector but can save you from a silent killer. >> firefighters deticketted levels of carbon monoxide above normal and decided to evacuate the building. >> i wake up good morning good morning and ten firefighters were in my room but it is better than not weighing -- waking up. >> pg&e did not fine the source. the gas vented to the outside could have come back in. >> a lot of possibilities of a change in weather or wind direction or atmospheric conditions that cause the carbon

monoxide to come back down the vent pipe. a resident in his 90's suffered great a heart attack during the evacuation and died. officials i don't not know if the carbon monoxide contributed to the death but say it is not likely because his wife who lived in the same apartment unit is fine. you cannot see or smell carbon monoxide but at high levels it can claim a life. babies and the elderly are especially vulnerable. since jap of 2013 call law has required all multifamily homes to have working carbon monoxide detectors. single family homes have been required to have those detectors since 2011 which can run from $10 to $100 for a top of the line version. >> a man who was attacked by an uber driver is considering a lawsuit. a short time ago the man and his attorney give an update on his condition. he was a passenger in an uber car when he says the driver

game, campbell and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. there was a spectacular sight, a total lunar eclipse. nasa could see it. they took this shot but some of us had too much fog. by 3:30 it was a total lunar eclipse or a blood moon because of the reddish light that is cast when the either blocks the line between the sun and the noon. the total phase of the eclipse ended at 4:30 this morning. here is how it looked from los angeles as it ended. here is a look at noon from south san jose. if you missed it, nasa says another is returning next april and then another one in september. >> it is a dream for everyone, including scientists, like our meteorologist, meteorologist meteorologist, meteorologist mike nicco.

the way if this morning, it was cool. it has an orange hue to it. hopefully we will have nice weather when the games come back into san francisco. we will look and show you what is going on with our winds: they are quiet. they have calmed down considerably and that is why we are seeing the haze and the humidity is up. it is not a "spare the air" day with the winds picking up with a small craft advisory issued today from 2:00 to 8:00. the bay will be choppy. the ferry road home will be breeze was with the southwest winds at 20 to 30 knots and a northern wind is blowing down the coast and it looks like we will see a few breaks in the cloud cover dead and the wind coming off the water will keep you cooler than everyone else. it is coming right toward us and it and all the way to alcatraz and angel island and stopping short of emeryville and berkeley. total sunshine inland east bay

is where we could see 90's develop for one last day before the weekend rolls around and they come back. 59 at half moon bay and we have mid-60's to low 70's around the bay into san jose and 74 in los gatos a warm spot. and 80 in if san ramon, the warm spot, outside of fairly at 81. at golden gate bridge, it is 58 degrees with the west wind at ten, above and below and average and we have everything, coolest highs tomorrow and friday and the warm temperatures are coming everywhere this weekend. today, the highs start in the south bay where gilroy is 90 and most of the south bay is upper 70 to nearly 80. on the peninsula, mid-to-upper 70's but for millbrae is 70. upper 60's in downtown and south san francisco and sausalito and low-to-mid 80's through the north bay valley and mid-to-upper 70's and low 70's in richmond and berkeley and oakland and nearly 90 inland east bay. tonight the temperatures are mid-to-upper 50's and the cloud cover punches inland a little

bit more with the many layer deepening again and cooler in santa rosa and napa, upper 40's to nearly 50. the satellite shows the high pressure keeping the moisture to the south, unfortunately, and this cold area of low pressure coming near us will induce the stronger sea breeze and that is why we are going to be cooler but as we head to friday, 69 and saturday is 78 for fleet week and possibly mid-80's sunday in san francisco. here is a look at the seven-day forecast, 70's at the coast, sunshine on saturday, sunday, and monday. 80's around the bay and 90 inland and the heat wave will not last so long as the last one and a sharp cool front on the back side of it. rain is being watched next week and right now it could stay north of us. great day out here, grab the sunglasses. sunglasses. enjoy.
