live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news, good morning, i am eric thomas. >> i am kristen sze, san francisco firefighters are meeting and their faith in the chief is consideration with more calls for chief hayes-white to step down in the wake of another delayed ambulance response. we are in san francisco with that story. yes, kristen, firefighters have been gathering all morning to vote on a motion whether they should allow all 1,500 members

of the department to weigh in on whether fire chief hayes-white should be ousted. on that vote there was only one dissenting, another blow to the chief's leadership. last month, union leaders and the heads of all of the employee groups including women, firefighters, blacks, asians and gays most with the mayor to present a letter saying they no longer have confidence in the chief's leadership. last week, the command staff did the same. the tipping point was ambulance response team with people waiting up to two hours. yesterday after a fire in the sunset district, an elderly plan waited 18 minutes according to the documents obtained by abc7. the maximum response time is supposed to be ten minutes. that 84-year-old mandated. that is bound to put even more pressure on the chief to step

down. the mayor has stood by chief haze bite the first female chief in san francisco. here is what he said earlier today. >> it is obviously a challenge when there is an important group like the union signifying they have some confidence gaps. we are working on it. i do think it is appropriate if the fire commission, which i appoint, to have the responsibility to help those performances evaluate and make sure the chief and the entire command staff are doing what they need to do to make sure morale is up and the work of fire department is backed up. >> the mayor talk about the fire commission and the commissioners have a meeting this afternoon at 4:00. thank you. breaking news just in, the president of the california public utility commission said he will step down after his term

expires this area. he just released a statement saying he will not seek another term. he has served 12 years as california public utilities president the he announced this the day that the state senator called for his resignation. hill said he has too cozy of a relationship with pg&e as illustrated by recently released e-mails revealing secret communications between the to sides. >> the first case of the virus that has been hitting young people in santa clara. the case of enterovirus d-68 was confirmed through laboratory testing. the virus can cause severe wheezing and difficulty breathing. health firms will only say this patient is under the age of 18 and has been released from the hospital in good condition. this have been half a dozen other enterovirus d-68 cases in the area. >> russ concern of the ebola virus spreading further, a day after the death of an ebola patient in texas.

the sheriff deputy rushed to the dallas hospital yesterday is still in isolation and part of the team that delivered a quarantine notice to the home where thomas eric duncan was saying. there is worry about the virus spreading more. five of the largest airports in the united states will start to conduct extra screening of all passengers getting off flights from west africa. local hospitals and health departments are updating crisis plans. just in case. those plans include isolating victims, as well as keeping the virus from spreading. matt keller has more on what they are planning. signs are going up, not only to help the patients but medical personnel. >> the hospitals in santa clara county have not seen any ebola parents but officials are preparing for the possible, the county public health department is sending out the signs to

hospitals to put up in their emergency rooms. this one is for patients asking if you have a fever or had close contact with someone who traveled to west west africa or if you have. you immediately call the public health department and inform management. similar signs in the emergency room at the john muir medical center. protocols for ebola infection are in place. >> we notify certain people immediately of what is going on and a person that is dressed in protective gear will come with a wheelchair and immediately wheel them to a private room. >> santa clara county public health department says hops have personnel protection equipment but are still looking at different products such as gloves going up higher on the arm to make sure they are covered. at john muir a potential patient is isolated and everyone must

wear personal protection confirmment like in texas where the first patient was superintendent home and died ten days later. >> he said he was from lie pieria and had a fever and throwing up, but somehow that was not flagged that something to be concerned about. >> the public health say they call the hospitals to discuss laboratory and transportation issues and are work on getting how many health care workers have been drilled on protocols regarding ebola. walnut creek police have new surveillance video they have just released hoping to catch a bank robbery suspect who covered his face with white gauze and wear a black baseball happen and black sunglasses. he walked into the chase bank yesterday afternoon and demanded cash from the teller. he walked out. the suspect is described as 6' 3" between 220 and 250.

in the last hour officials have announced results of sting operations targeting unlicensed contractors preying on napa earthquake victims. investigators arrested eight contractors who bid on repair jobs for homeowners who were actually undercover agents. this is video from the stings carried out this week in an earthquake damaged home. police and the contractors state licensing board have been warning residents of using unlicensed contractors since the 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit napa august 24. napa valley grape growers are raising a toast as the harvest draws to a close saying expect a high quality vintage despite the many challenges brought on by nature. amy hollyfield? i look around and as we all know in the bay area napa valley has truly been kissed by an angel and this cements it. it was a roller coaster year but the grapes survived and they

look great. >> they have dealt with drought. earthquake. then hail. but the grape growers survived it all and the harvest looks perfect. >> our yields are probably going to be in between 2012 and 2013 yields which were both fairly high for us. if this becomes the new normal we are excited about that. >> the earthquake and the hail damned homes and personal gardens but the grapes handled it. >> the fruit held up well during that hailstorm. >> as far as the grapes in napa, i don't think 6.0 magnitude earthquake is quite enough to shake them all the way off the vines so harvest continued in full gear shortly after. napa has been open for business since. >> as for the drought they looked good because of rain in february. but the farmers have been trying to cut water usage, and change their management techniques to save water in the vineyards. then, the earthquake hit and the

>> covering santa rosa, berkeley, san jose, this is abc7 news. >> it is "fleet week," in san francisco. you will know that for sure when the blue angels fly by, the newest assault ship, the uss america is docked in san francisco at pier 30 and 32 in preparation if the commissiononing ceremony on saturday that sevens mostly marine corporation carrying aircraft and ground troops although the crew of the ship is navy. today, it will be a roaring show over the city and the blue angels will be practicing over san francisco from 12:30 to 4:00 and the official air show is tomorrow through sunday. >> we better check with mike to see if it will be clear by 12:30. what do you think? >> it will be tough.

low cloud i can see already hugging angel island and it is just not giving it up. we will have better chaps friday and saturday and i will show you the forecast. but, first, thanks for sending this in, near the caldecott tunnel in oakland, and it is thinger and it can cascade over the east bay hills and makes this waterfall of clouds that is absolutely gorgeous to watch mother nature in motion and that is a reason why we are having a hard time getting rid of the clouds with the wages not so strong this morning and that is leave the air stagnant and you can see along the shoreline as we look down from our east bay hills camera, it is clear, but over the water where the air is more stable, we have a hard time and the blue angels may not be able to do low tricks or maneuvers but they can do everything else. here is the forecast, the low clouds are going to linger through 2:00 and they will break up with a better chance for sun tomorrow and this weekend we

bay is showing why we are warmer. our cool of the highs in the entire forecast until we get to next week, today, tomorrow, sunny and warm and significant pattern shift next week. todays upper 70's and nearly 80 in san jose, but mid-80's to los gatos and morgan hill and mid-to-upper 70 on the peninsula and millbrae is 69, and in the mid-60's around downtown to 69 in sausalito and home 80's in the north bay which is 20 degrees warmer in the valley and low-to-mid 70's along the east bay shore and headed inland neighborhood middle-to-upper 80's. tonight we are in the 50's, again, and look for patchy light drizzle this morning and a quick look of what is going on, i want to show you this because the rain is to the south and the high pressure is compressed but this storm from russia is what we of watching for, with the rain next week. until it reaches here, the heat is on. significantly cooler tuesday and wednesday and drizzle in the morning. the best chance of rain next week is probably friday and
