a good saturday morning. thanks for joining us. i'm matt keller. we'll start with a quick look at the weather. it is cooler and cloudier in the north bay this morning. even in the south bay. low clouds and fog banked up along the short lane. they will erode quickly today. a look at how pretty it is. 56 in san jose at half moon bay be and still some delays at sfo. everyone under a sunnier sky and warmer temperatures. a red flag warning goes into effect tonight for steadily decreasing relative humidity and increasing wins, and temperature today inland to be in the mid-80s, oakland mid-70s.

ocean beach, half moon bay, upper 60s to low 70s. a beautiful looking weekend but pretty dangerous out there. we'll talk about when the rain arrives coming up. >> breaking news where right now some crews are still at the scene of a fatal house fire. the one alarm fire broke out around 3:00 on fuller avenue. two others were injured. one was treated for minor burns. no word on what started the fire. president obama is in san francisco raising money for democrats. today a roundtable at the pacific heights home of mark pinkus. today's roundtable follows the president's big event at the w hotel. katie has more on the democratic dough zors. the no justice, no peace.

the intentions are all right. >> reporter: when the president comes to town there are always issues, at least one arrest. police say this man trade to knock down their barricade. traffic jams for sure. travel weary hotel guests stopped by police. and imagine if this were your wedding day and you were sharing your video with the president. >> dozens of people had to rearrange their friday night plans due to the president's visit. no one was allowed to leave the parking garage on fourth and mission streets. roads were shut down and drivers were stuck. >> i'm supposed to go to a party, but now we end up just being here and that really sucks. >> we get out, have dinner and come back. we did some shopping, too. >> drivers were venting on twilter even an obama jam hash

tag. we will continue to follow the president's bay-area visit on air and online for up-to-the-minute news. this morning some of you are wondering if police could have done more after a man shot his ex-girlfriend before turning the gun on himself in san francisco. it happened yesterday morning at a building on natoma street. police received four 911 calls in the hours that led up to the final and deadly encounter. police are defending their ha handling of the dispute. abc 7 news report he sergio quintana has details. >> reporter: this is one of the final police dispatch calls, shots fired and two people are hit. >> hiding in the closet and the boyfriend and roommate were in the hallway. >> reporter: police say 29-year-old cedric young forced his way into the south of market complex, shot his ex-girlfriend, then fatally shot himself. she was hit in the chest and remains in san francisco general hospital. over the span of nine hours police say they received a

series of 911 calls from the victim. the first call at 8:30 police say the victim said young wouldn't stop ringing her doorbell, but she hung up after the nuisance ended. 45 minutes later another call. police respond and convince young to leave. less than an hour later young returns intoxicated, so police booked him for being drunk in public. he spends the night in jail. but at 4:00 a.m., he shows up again. the victim calls police. this time he wants to pack up some of his things, so police watch as she allows him in. she even helps him pack and he leaves. but an hour later, he somehow forces his way back into her home. >> another call, whispering that his roommate has been shot. >> reporter: police say this is especially troubling because young had been arrested two years ago for felony domestic violence. >> that case was dismissed by the district attorney's office because the victim in the case refused prosecution. >> reporter: san francisco

police are reviewing how this incident was handled, but so far say officers followed sergio quintana, abc news. a heated conflict over class in san francisco's mission d district. >> you think just because you have money, you can buy the field. >> no, we don't. >> and play and take over the field. >> this all happened about two weeks ago at the mission park soccer field. this video was posted on youtube. a group of young tech workers tried to kick the group off the feel because the workers reserved it through the city. the teams refuse d to go claimig the field had always been a place for pick-up games. things got worse when a permit was produced with the teams arguing money can't change neighborhood rules that have about been in place for years. we checked and the city allows people to reserve the field for $27 an hour. this morning-to-people are recovering after a car crash ended up on the front lawn of the house. it happened last night in mountain view. the car turned on to california street.

officers say a second car traveling on california broadsided the turning vehicle. it ended up flipping almost on to the porch. two people were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. police on the peninsula are stepping up their certificate of for a man who has exposed himself in public twice. this is a sketch released by palo alto police of a man who exposed himself to women thursday. he was inside a white bmw without proper plates. the suspect matches the description of a man who flashed two women outside the coffee shop in belmont yesterday morning. again, he was inside a white bmw. p police are trying to determine if the same man exposed himself to two girls or if these are two separate suspects. this morning the top man in microsoft is backpedaling from what he said about women in the tech industry. his comments about female workers asking for raises has touched off a firestorm. satya nadella has apologized. as tiffany wilson finds, some

women's advocacy groups doend think it goes enough. >> reporter: he is apologizing after these comments set off a storm of criticism. >> it's not really about asking for the raise but knowing and having faith that the system will actually give you the right raises as you go along. and that, i think, might be one of the additional superpowers that, quite frankly, women who don't ask for a raise have. because that good karma will come back. >> reporter: on the streets of san francisco women adamantly disagre disagreed. >> i think it's absolutely absurd. if they feel they deserve it, they have to ask for it. >> reporter: nadella said he was inarticulate and then sent an e-mail to the entire company. it reads in part, i answered the question completely wrong. i believe men and women should get equal pay for equal work. and if you think you deserve a raise, you should ask. when it comes to raises, tech recruiter scott brosnan says

help, throwing things, a nearby water hose, as they attacked his son on his foot and neck. >> he's in there with the -- >> yes. it's not good. >> reporter: once zoo staff arrived they kept the jaguars at bay with fire extinguishers, lowering a ladder into the pit and pulling the boy to safety. the toddler is still cautious and responsive. >> we saw a car go by with a child with his head bleeding. we're trying to figure out what's going on. >> reporter: the youngster now at arkansas children's hospital is in critical condition with scalp lacerations, a depressed skull fracture and punk daughter wounds. the child's name has not been disclosed and his family is not releasing any further medical information. the reports are the injuries are not life threatening. for now the jag are wuar exhibi temporarily closed and a full investigation is under way. chuck seifert son, abc news, new york. san jose's police chief has temporarily ordered his officers to stop working offduty for the

niners. a sergeant arrived before other officers who responded to a 911 domestic violence call temperature appears that call was not made until after the sergeant was at the home. the independent police officer says off-duty jobs can create a conflict of interest when an employer may be involved in a kr crime. >> i can't envision where there isn't a conflict of interest where a police officer is working secondary employment for companies or businesses that make money. >> ray mcdonald has not been charged. no word on how long the moonlighting ban will be in place for police officers. we've heard of con artists claiming you've won a sweepstakes or chosen to be a secret shopper. now another group is being targeted, attorneys. a warning about the latest version of an old con. >> i received an e-mail from a ms. koch.

>> reporter: this attorney figured this was just another plea for legal help. >> she had a japanese divorce decree that she wanted to enforce here in alameda county. >> reporter: the e-mailer says her ex-husband owes her $933,000 in a divorce settlement. he's only paid half of it. while she's in japan, her ex is over here in berkeley. >> and so she wanted to know if she could retain my services to enforce this judgment. >> reporter: seemed logical especially when she said here are the japanese court documents, a divorce decree and settlement agreement, and she said this was her passport. >> i looked at all the documents. i looked at the e-mail. i e-mailed her back, said, thank you very much. >> reporter: he sent her a retainer agreement be and told her he had to speak with her by phone. >> enforcement of a foreign divorce decree is not a routine matter. it's not so simple. >> reporter: she replied saying she was traveling and couldn't find time to talk by phone.

however, her ex-husband had just agreed to cooperate and pay the money. >> so she said what i'd like to do is i would like to arrange to have him send you the money to hold in your trust account. >> reporter: she insist they speak by phone but replied her daughter had fallen deathly ill. she needed the money right away. >> a few days later i received a federal express envelope. inside was a cashier's check, a chase bank cashier's check, in the sum of $497,000. >> reporter: a note inside the envelope told him to deposit the check, subject his attorney f fees, and wire the rest to koch. >> several flags went off. number one, someone who had never spoken to me sends me a cashier's check for $497,000. it didn't pass what i would call the smell check. >> reporter: he took the check to police. sure enough, it was a phony. so are the supposed court documents and the passport. if he had deposited the worthless check and wired money,

tonight for this in-depth report. i'm sure that will be very interesting. a lot of fans remember being at the a's/giants world series game. we have the giants back in the playoffs tonight. a lot of reminders there. it looks like the weather will be okay for st. louis. >> it will be cloudy and we'll look for temperatures in the upper 50s. but back home we have changes to talk about starting with today as the fog is very dense. the marine layer becomes compressed and the winds switch around to an offshore component. right now live doppler 7 hd showing the low clouds all the way up and down the coast. they have moved into the bay and they are creating some problems around sfo and in the north bay. right here you can see the view from above, high clouds as well. it looks sunny from above and it will be later on this afternoon all around marin county. 54 in morgan hill. 55 right now and half moon bay reporting some dense fog. so we'll look for a warmer day today for everyone. east bay hills, isn't this pretty, with the low clouds

through the hills here and the high clouds will be scoured throughout the day today. partly cloudy fair field, livermore and concord right now with santa rosa at 50 degrees. and here's a look at the visibility in miles with just an eighth of a mile santa rosa, less than a quarter, novato, half moon bay and even cloudiness hanging on in the south bay. from the future tower camera, another pretty shot with a warmer pattern for the weekend, increasing fire danger, a red flag warning overnight tonight as the winds kick up, the relative humidity drops to below 10% in some east bay neighborhoods. a chance for rain to arrive as soon as tuesday night, lingering into wednesday morning. here is a look in detail of our fire weather watch. it gets going at 11:00 tonight north in east bay hills and then by about 3:00 in the morning the winds will crank up santa cruz mountains. and so some of the wind gusts above 1,000 feet could be at 50 miles an hour and so with very little relative humidity in the

atmosphere, we are worried about fires being started. also looking at a statement with large northwest swells anywhere from 11 to 13 feet. ocean beach, sonoma county and down through monterey bay. pretty dangerous out there for sure. high pressure is building in and the pressure gradient tightens. that wipes out the relative humidity, increases the temperatures just for the short term because really even into monday night things will be changing. by tuesday night we're looking at the chance of showers lingering into wednesday. that's some good news for us. here's the front monday night. it gets hung up along the north coast and we will see a few pockets of rain, maybe a tenth of an inch to .2. we'll have to see as it gets closer. we are looking at lots of sunshine today as the clouds scour out for fleet week. in fact, the temperatures steadily warm with upper 70s

introduces us to a 16-year-old who has created two apps designed to fight obesity. >> we need more minorities out there because it's the percentage compared to is very low. they can do it, too. >> reporter: 16-year-old jorge started learning code in the ninth grade. he took summer classes at stanford and now is using a new language. with this program he created apps to fight a problem he says he sees every day. >> as a low-income minority, i know a lot of people who are overweight. >> reporter: so jorge designed two apps targeting obesity. he received latinos on the fast track. the program rewards hispanic gamers and their ability to improve society. last week they were recognized at a is ceremony in washington, d.c d.c.,. trim fit and smash fast. >> encourage people to lose weight. >> reporter: it works like this. you sign up and you're connected

drivers across the state could see some relief at the pump before christmas. our media partner, "the mercury news" reports gas prices to plummet as much as eed 30 cents gallon before the holidays. some are 18 cents lower than a month ago. analysts cite a drop in crude priceses for the decline. the average price is $3.76 a gallon. oakland it's $3.64. san jose $3.62. priceses may dip for a while. analysts say, don't get used to it. new carbon tax for fuels is expected to send priceses soaring again. feels like the weather department lately. down and up. left, right. >> we're going to follow that pattern today. cloudy out there now at sfo, there are delays of about an hour and the clouds extended over into the east bay so we'll be looking at clearing by mid

good morning. a live look from our tower cam. lac looks like a picture of heaven on earth. above the marine layer, the blue angels will be filling the sky later today over san francisco. two very lucky owls are back in the wild this morning thanks to some volunteers and animal ex perts who gave a hoot. an abc 7 news crew got the go-along as two spectacular birds got a second chance at life. here is anchor dan ashley with the story. >> reporter: gray horned owls are rightcal kricritical to the. sometimes even owls need help, and that's where lake tahoe wildlife care comes in. today is release day for two owls who would not have survived without this rescue center. >> he's very upset because he's

not used to being held. >> reporter: this feisty fellow was brought in by lowery who found the owl lying helpless on the ground when it was just a chick. >> his eyes were still closed. hadn't even opened at that time. he's probably no more than a couple weeks old 0. >> reporter: the owl has been in wildlife care since spring, growing up in a giant enclosure where it can fly around and learn to be a wild bird. the center also cares for a wide variety of other wild animals all orphaned or injured and all being raised to return to the life that nature intended. a few months after the gray horned owl arrived, it was joined by another slightly older owl. this one was so severely injured its eye had to be removed. it's now fully recovered and ready for freedom. but first the milhams have to catch it. >> here she comes. >> reporter: this is a precision operation by a team that knows what it's doing, confident the

owl can make it in the wild. >> it's okay to release a one-eyed owl because they focus their eyes independently of each other and hunt mainly with their ears. their ears are huge underneath their feathers. >> reporter: and there's nothing wrong with its other critical hunting tools, the at that lons. both are gently lowered into boxes and driven to a safe spot for release. volunteers help with the big moment. >> tip it all the way up. >> reporter: first, the one-i'med owl makes a beeline for the trees. >> wonderful. >> reporter: but the younger owl lands in a field, still trying to decide how to handle the big outdoors. the man had who rescued him is here to root him on, grateful for the expert help that led to this moment. >> so many interactions now between humans and different animals that one way or the other they get hurt. there are places out there animals can't have that second chance. isn't that beautiful? look at that. >> reporter: dan ashley, abc 7 news. >> beautiful up there in tahoe. wildlife care has helped more

we'll burn back and pull away from the shoreline. napa at 53. good morning, livermore. nice and sunny. concord is at 57 and, finally, san jose, overka conditions. a warmer pattern for the weekend, significantly warmer tomorrow. today five to ten degrees warmer than yesterday. that puts us above average. today increasing fire danger and a chance of rain arrives as early as tuesday night into wednesday. but we're already seeing the waves crank out from the north coast. ocean beach very, very dangerous with large northwesterly swells, 11 to 13 feet and strong rip currents so we can't emphasize that enough along the coast right on threw tomorrow. satellite picture shows high pressure building in, and it's all about with the high for the weekend compressing that marine layer allowing for a wind shift and then the winds will be strongest tomorrow morning by about sun rise. but they'll continue with their northeasterly gust in the higher elevations right on through the

evening hours. but if by tuesday the storm system is on the move and here is what's going to happen before the wetting rains come taus and wednesday, we'll have the high fire danger, wind gusts up to 50 miles an hour. this is above 1,000 feet but still relative humidity will plummet everywhere thought the next several days and even in the santa cruz mountains watching for the potential for some fires. so here's a look at what we can expect tuesday and wednesday as most of the rain along the north coast anywhere from a tenth to .2. maybe some of that mountain snow in the sierra nevada. we'll look for temperatures in the upper 60s at the coast. 90 in fresno. 74 in the sierra nevada. with sunny skies, a few high clouds mixed in, should be a beautiful day with numbers had in the upper 60s here for fleet week. a little bit breezy and even warmer tomorrow. in fact, much warmer tomorrow. taking you to berkeley with a
