last night's dramatic win in the bottom of the ninth, propelling the giants to the world series for the third time in five years. >> ishikawa into right! the giants win the pennant! >> yep, left fielder travis ishikawa launched the three-run shot, giving the giants a 6-3 win over the cardinals in game five of the national league championship series. madison bumgarner was named the nlcs mvp. the giants will now face the kansas city royals in the world series, and the giants come from behind heroics had fans walking on air this morning. amy hollyfield is live at at&t park with more fan reaction. amy? >> reporter: yeah, it's an even year. it was supposed to happen, and it happened. they did it.

of course, the fans erupted the moment the giants won. they won in the bottom of the ninth, tortured their fans until the bitter end. they were tied, then travis ishikawa hit that giant home run. here's what the fan hs to say about that magical moment. >> the last moment when he hit the home run, it was magnificent. >> it was unbelievable. everybody was up there all high fiving each other. yeah, exactly, that was it. >> go, giants, world series soon to be winners. >> reporter: they partied all around the stadium, all throughout the city you could hear people celebrating after the game. this team has always acknowledged how much they love their fans and they say their fans give them so much energy. they were so glad that they were able to clinch and win this pennant at home. and even as they were being presented the trophy, the giants' ceo, larry bayer, said

as he was accepting the award, thank you to these fans, the most amazing fans in baseball. so it was a big group win last night. everyone will savor this victory for a few more days, then on to the next one. it's time to focus on the world series. reporting live in san francisco, amy holyfield, abc 7 news. >> awesome, thank you, amy. >> we ain't done yet, boys! >> giants outfielder hunter pence delivered another post game locker game speech. it is the third time the giants have popped champagne in the clubhouse in the last three weeks. after the game, crowds blocked sidewalks and streets celebrating in san francisco's mission district. you can see the heavy police presence in this video from sky 7 hd. some fans even set off fireworks. no major issues in the mission, but there was a fight near the ballpark at fourth and channel streets around 10:00 last night.

police say a gunshot was fired, but nobody was hit. one person was taken to the hospital with a fractured nose. everyone involved except the victim ran from the scene. also police say there were a handful of fans ejected from at&t park during the game for unruly behavior. >> about the fans, you know nico is the fan. not that nico, this nico. nico the canine decked out. check out this soda display. this store showing off giants spirit. you can e-mail your fan photos to us. or tweet them to us. so here's the world series schedule. game one is set for tuesday, october 21st, in kansas city. game two will be next wednesday, the next day, october 22nd, also in kansas city. then the series shifts to san francisco. game three next friday, october 24th, at at&t. game four is saturday the 25th.

game five would be played on sunday the 26th at at&t park, if it is necessary. first pitch for all those games, 5:07 p.m. developing news at uc berkley, where campus police are investigating five sexual assaults at one fraternity, coming five and a half weeks after sexual assaults were reported at multiple fraternities around campus. five people were drugged with roofies and sexually assaulted between last friday and sunday. officers say it happened at a fraternity that is not recognized by uc berkley. santa clara police are hoping additional witnesses who saw the brutal assault inside a levi's stadium bathroom will step forward. the victim of the brutal beating nearly two weeks ago is partially paralyzed and remains in serious condition. both brothers, dario and amador rivero are charged with felony

assault. amador has received an additional count for producing paralysis. about 50 people were in the bathroom when the fight started, including at least one person who shot this video of it. now to the latest on the ebola outbreak. nina pham is now in maryland, the first nurse to be diagnosed with the virus was flown from dallas to the national institutes of health in bethesda overnight. a dallas health care worker who carried a lab specimen is self quarantined on a caribbean cruise, and president obama says he may appoint a so-called ebola czar to lead the response in the u.s. in the bay area, strict protocols, beginning with first responders. allen wong explains. >> reporter: not the scariest part for us, is that we go into houses every day that we don't know. >> reporter: paramedics in sala know county are now prepared for

any patient that tells 911 operator they've traveled to guinea, sierra leone, in the last 21 days. ebola patients can exhibit vomiting, diarrhea, and unexplained bleeding or bruising. that's why every part of a first responder's body needs to be protected, even the ambulance needs to be lined with sheets of plastic. cdc guidelines are carefully followed. >> the whole suit or any exposed area would get sprayed down with a corn-based solution. >> reporter: health officials say all nine bay area counties are communicating and developing a standard protocol for potential ebola cases. >> bay area, solano county are all at some risk of having a case of ebola, and we all need to be ready. >> reporter: while health officials here say that risk is

low, they say no excuse for a lack of preparation. allen wong, abc 7 news. san francisco is in the final stages of developing ebola protocols, including training of first responders. abc 7 news learned 911 dispatchers will question callers to see if they have ebola-like symptoms. if they do, first responders will be notified. abc7news.com we posted a detailed list of seven things you need to know about the ebola virus, including its origin, symptoms, and how it's transmitted. happening today, events are being held around the bay area to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the loma prieta earthquake. the 6.9 quake hit during the world series between the giants and a's at 5:04 p.m. on october 17th, 1989. one section of the bay bridge buckled. the 880 freeway was flattened, and the marina district caught

a third of oakland's restaurant workers don't make enough money to feed their families. restaurant opportunities centers united, a worker advocacy group, say the findings underscore the need to increase the city's minimum wage. the average wage for restaurant workers is $9 an hour and the average work week just 30 hours. measure sf on the november ballot calls for increasing the city's minimum wage to $12.25 an hour. time for a check on the weather forecast, a day after the san francisco giants clinched the world series bid. we're all sleep deprived because of it. >> we are. it took forever for my tongue to wake up and everything to start functioning at the same time this morning. hopefully, you're not dragging. if you're coming through the ferry building, of course, orange this morning. 61 degrees. golden gate, 57. downtown, 56. same thing in the financial district. those temperatures are cooler for the first time in a long time. the thermometer on my car dipped down to 47 degrees on the way to work. hasn't done that in probably six

covering los altos, antioch, petaluma, and all the bay area, this is abc 7 news. >> today the oakland coliseum board is expected to name a former republican lawmaker as its new executive director. guy houston would become the first permanent director of the coliseum authority in five years. our media partner, the oakland tribune, reports they are looking at plans to boost its power to keep the a's and raiders and build new stadiums. one plan asks for the help of robert bob, who helped secure a new baseball stadium for the washington nationals after the team relocated from montreal. bob is a former oakland city administrator who pushed for a downtown stadium for the a's before he was ousted in 2003 by former mayor jerry brown. the family of a stockton mother killed in a shootout between police and three bank robbers says gun fire from

officers was excessive. the robbers took misty singh hostage at bank of the west in july, they used her as a human shield in a shootout that followed a police chase. her family's lawyer saying police knew there was a hostage and should have waited before firing indiscriminately at the get away car. singh's husband says their family is still grieving. >> they say with time things are going to heal, but for this family, it hasn't. we continue to live the nightmare. the pain is still there. >> the family has not decided if they'll sue the city of stockton or bank of the west, which was robbed several times in recent years. one of two men accused of setting eight fires in alameda is free this morning on $150,000 bond. 27-year-old stephen peterson left jail yesterday. in an exclusive interview, he told abc 7 news reporter nick

smith he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. the fires last month damaged or destroyed several homes and businesses, as well as several cars. he has faith he'll be cleared of the charges against him. peterson and 22-year-old transient andrew gutierrez face arson. gutierrez admitted to setting one of the fires while high on methamphetamine. in a battle for the right to play on san francisco soccer fields, chock one up to the kids. adults confronting kids in a pickup game. the workers reserved and paid for the field through the recreation and parts department, but the dispute is seen as pitting people with money as those without it. at a meeting yesterday, members decided to stop granting permits for adults to play and instituted free pickup games every night between 7:00 and 10:00. well, the world series will be back at at&t park next weekend for the third time in five years.

mostly sunny and warmer this weekend and a better chance of getting wet monday. for temperatures for today, low to mid 70s down south. santa cruz, 68 degrees, san jose, santa clara, sunnyvale. mid 60s along the coast, but we'll make a run at 70 in downtown, south san francisco, sausalito, that's close to average this time of year. you can see some showers appear and that will hold you into the low 70s along the east bay shore. fremont, 74, low spot. tonight, you can see most of the radar turn to right along the coast, the greatest instability tonight is going to be out over the ocean. the least instability is going to be over land. it's going to be hard for showers to stay together, but we could get a few sprinkles and light showers overnight. temperatures will be milder than this morning. mid 50s to low 60s. you can see towards 5:00, showers moving north, that's where they stay during the

it's the moment baseball fans dream of, catching the ball that sends their team to the world series. >> but the giants fan that caught travis ishikawa's home run ball last night decided not to keep it. there you can see him in the arcade making the catch, and frank burke of oakville made a classy move. this is burke returning the ball to ishikawa. daniel brown shared the photo with us. abc 7 sports reporter caught up with travis in the locker room and you can see the smile on his face as he posed for this picture with the ball. >> well done, because that's how

giants fans roll. >> indeed. by the way, goggles look good on you, travis. >> here's mike with the forecast. >> here we go. let's talk about what's going on in lake tahoe. mid 60s to near 70 as we head through the weekend. look at that wall of water heading towards eureka and the north bay, chico, reading, possibility of wet weather there. mid 70s to 80 with increasing sunshine southbound through the central valley. increasing clouds and 67 in monterey, mid 70s around san diego and los angeles. ucla is in town to take on cal 3:00 tomorrow. 68 degrees, warming up to about 70 before the game starts to take a turn to the cooler by the end of the game. now, if you're going to the cardinals, raiders game, 1:25 kickoff. 70 degrees, mostly sunny and 73 by the end of the game. leyla? >> mike, we do have one accident that just cleared off the freeway in san francisco northbound along 101 at 280.

in fact, they moved it off the freeway, but had to shut all lanes down to do it. that's what caused the delay. really, you're not going to see that as you head out the door right now, it should dissipate. as we look at the golden gate bridge, drive moving along, clear there, no fog to get in our way. nice dry commute, so moving along at top speeds. eric, katie? >> leyla, thank you very much. 4:56 now. next month, construction crews will begin filling in the giant sink hole that swallowed up eight cars at the national corvette museum in kentucky. video of the cars went viral quickly when it happened. the corvettes were recovered and six will be put on display. repairs to the sink hole will start in three weeks and be finished july of next year. officials considered leaving part of the hole open with one of the damaged cars inside but they decided no. >> not this time. >> no. new perks for starbucks
