third time in five years. good morning. i'm eric thomas in for kristen. >> and i'm sheryl jennings. it was a 6-3 win over the st. louis cardinals in game five. the sports bling, the tickets already out there. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield joins us now with more. >> reporter: yeah, the big game is coming to town. yet, the ticket office is closed. that's because the giants sold out of their world series tickets a week ago. you can still get them and plenty of merchandise that say champions on it, but it's all going to cost you. as soon as they heard this -- >> travis ishikawa hits one into right! the giants win the pennant! >> reporter: -- they went into work to do this. the team at graphic sportswear in san francisco pulled an all-nighter and printed 25,000 championship t-shirts overnight. they're fans, so they're excited

for their team but also thrilled for their bottom line. >> it's great for business. it's normally a slow time for us. yeah, this is a real big thing for our business. >> reporter: by 8:00 this morning, a shirt was already in the hands of fan todd wong, the first customer at the stadium's dugout store. >> i needed one of these. >> reporter: he actually bought two at $32 each. if they win the world series, he will happily upgrade to a new shirt. >> i will be back for that too. yeah, when they win, i'm going to be back here. >> reporter: but he draws the line at spending money on a ticket to the world series. >> i looked into it last time, and it was -- oh, gosh, it was so expensive. so i usually just go home and watch it on tv. >> reporter: it's expensive this time too. on the stubhub website, the cheapest ticket is $543 for view reserve, or you can fork out $11,000 for a field club seat. these prices knock most giants fans out of the game, but many say no hard feelings, they're

series and we may see wet weather. >> okay. well, that's good, right? here's meteorologist mike nico. >> it could be pretty good for your activities, whether they're this afternoon or during the evening hours. here's a look at live doppler 7 hd. i just checked the ground observations. nothing is reaching the ground just quite yet. you have to go up to crescent city. that's where we're seeing heavier rain. it is reaching the ground. notice it's all heading from southwest to northeast, which means it's going to miss most of us. we'll have some sprinkles possible. the atmosphere primed for some showers. the best chance for showers, all of us, will be midnight tonight. we could have a few afternoon showers across the north bay. that's where you'll need an umbrella. the rest of us, just dodging sprinkles. >> all right, mike. thank you so much. well, the newest ebola scare is coming out of arlington, virginia, near the pentagon. police cordoned off a parking lot after a woman on a tour bus

became visibly ill. she said she had traveling to africa. the woman is quarantined right now and the people with her are being checked out. this is just one of the new developments today. abc 7 news reporter has more. >> reporter: health officials say nina p hham is in fair condition today. this is video of the 26-year-old taken hours before she was transferred from dallas to the national institutes of health in bethesda, maryland. she arrived there late last night on a special flight. >> she's very fatigued. in is a virus that really wreaks havoc on you. you could be coming in and getting better. you could have decrease in diarrhea. you could have decrease in vomiting, but you're still very, very tired. this virus knocks you out. >> pham's co-worker, amb.mmber vincent, is being treated in atlanta. the cdc believes she may have started feeling sick earlier than originally thought, but

vincent's family contradicts that claim. her mother released a statement saying, much criticism has been offered because she chose to travel home. let me be clear, amber wasn't sick when she came home, and she wasn't symptomatic when she departed for dallas. texas governor rick perry this morning joining calls for an air travel ban from the west african countries at the center of the outbreak. beyond air travel, there's also a cruise ship now under a microscope. carnival cruise lines says a texas health care worker who handled a lab specimen from a liberian man who died of ebola is in isolation on board the carnival magic. officials do not think the woman is a risk to passengers or crew members. president obama touched on the ebola outbreak today, speaking at the consumer financial protection bureau. >> news is dominated by ebola and, you know, we've got an all hands on deck approach across the government to make sure we're keeping the american people safe. >> reporter: also today, the president appointed an ebola

czar. he's an attorney who served as chief of staff to vice president biden and gore. abc 7 news. >> and at abc7news.com, we posted the detailed list of seven things you need to know about the ebola virus, including its origin, symptoms, and the way it's transmitted. also developing news right now at uc berkeley where police are investigating five sexual assaults at one fraternity. this is three weeks after people reported sexual assaults at multiple fraternities. this time five people were drugged with some sort of chemical that made them unconscious and were sexually assaulted between last friday and sunday. officers say it appeared to have happened at delta kappa epsilon, a fraternity that's not recognized by uc berkeley. the fraternity is located a block away from the cal campus. commuters coming into san francisco on the bay bridge this morning faced a huge traffic snarl. take a look at this live picture.

you see traffic backed up across the bridge into the east bay on the western span -- excuse me, the eastern span of the bridge. here's the problem. drivers headed west had to slow down as they cross two steel plates in three left-land lanes of the bridge. gridlock stretched back to highway 24 near children's hospital. traffic advisory signs showed the drive time to san francisco 59 minutes, double the normal time it takes to get into the city. those plates on the bridge deck are part of some remedial construction work that cal-trans is carrying out. >> because they've been worn out and are causing cracking of the bridge deck surface. >> the slow commute continued well past the peak 9:00 hour. and there's no immediate end in sight to the mess. cal-trans expected to be working on these lanes for another 60 days. up next, 25 years later, the bay area remembers the lom loma prieta earthquake.

ago today. >> that quake rocked the bay area for 15 seconds at 5:04 p.m. october 17th, 1989. it caused widespread damage to buildings and roadways. part of the marina district caught fire. a section of the bay bridge collapsed and a portion of the cypress freeway collapsed, and the world series between the giants and a's came to a halt. >> and there are events in the bay area and beyond to remember the loma prieta quake and its victims. >> in santa cruz, residents watched buildings collapse in their village down. >> more on how the city recovered. matt? >> reporter: yeah, a commemoration ceremony just wrapped up in the past 30 minutes or so. what took place here 25 years ago today changed lives and also the future of downtown santa cruz. downtown santa cruz shows no evidence scars from the loma prieta earthquake.

locals say it's bigger and better than ever. >> it's vibrant and fun and people are down here and it's more crowded than it's ever been. so it's good. turned out well. >> reporter: 25 years ago to the day, the 6.9-magnitude quake tore apart this beach down. the epicenter was ten miles northeast of santa cruz. the earth cracked. homes in the mountains crumbled. many buildings were reduced to rubble, including the historic cooper house. three people were killed in the downtown area. >> i was down at the other end of the mall. the windows blew out. i heard the ceiling come in. right away i went up the mall and realized it was pretty much the whole mall had come down. >> i'd like to invite all of us to pause for a moment of silence in honor of those who lost their lives that day. >> reporter: this morning people gathered at the corner of pacific avenue and front street for a 25th anniversary

commemoration of the loma prieta quake. guests from the city, county, u.s. g logical survey, and red cross talked about how the area is prepared for the future and also took a look at the past. >> there were so many stories of just how individually and collectively people just came back from the rubble. >> reporter: this is the last empty lot in the downtown area from the earthquake. it was a santa cruz coffee roasting company. there are plans to fill the void with a mix of retail and residential units. live in santa cruz, matt keller. >> matt, thank you. tonight on abc 7 news, we're going to look back at the loma prieta quake on this 25th anniversary. our special is called "15 seconds, 25 years later, the loma prieta earthquake." i certainly hope you can join us for that. you'll hear the weather from

>> it's a friday. >> it is a friday. >> we're very excited about our ronald mcdonald house san francisco benefit tonight. mike and i are going to mc that. >> it's a great organization. the story you put together for both of us is online if you'd like to check it out and see the new facility they're having. they have such a great need for more rooms for those families. so go watch that on abc7news.com or join us tonight at four seasons here in downtown san francisco. all right. let's look at the forecast and show you what's going on at 11:19. we have some radar returns around the sonoma county coast. not making it to it the ground. what is, everything north of there. that's where the cold front and the low and the strength of that is more predominant along the oregon and washington coast. for us, we're just going to see this, an increase in the mid and upper-level clouds through the afternoon hours. so some sprinkles possible. 59 right now in santa rosa. most of us in the mid to upper 60s. that's after the 40s and 50s this morning.

one of the chilliest mornings we've had since last spring. this is the way it looks from the east bay hills. you can see some of the midlevel clouds coming in. those are not very thick. they don't have much vertical development because there's not much moisture in them. as they gather, they will. that's why there's a chance of showers this afternoon. overnight is when we'll get our best chance of seeing anything measurable. by tomorrow, already a few degrees warmer. better chance of measurable rain monday. highs today, mid to up thor 60s along the coast into san francisco. low to mid-70s elsewhere. tonight with the clouds coming in, even with the rain, it's going to be milder with mid to upper 50s. even a 60 around asan mateo. that first batch of radar returns going away, but by 7:00, another one coming in. one the sun sets, the atmosphere tends to moisten enough. you can see that system pull up to the coast and kind of fade away from 8:00 to noon tomorrow morning. so the closer you are to the coast and the north bay, the more likely you'll get some of

the scattered showers overnight. by 5:00 tomorrow, you can see the sun breaking out. look where most of it resides. up along the sonoma county and marin county coast. for hawaii, we're going just below it now is what's happening with ana. she's still a tropical storm, 70-mile-per-hour winds. expecting it to crank up to 74. that's all you need to get to for a hurricane as it plows just south of the big island by midnight tonight. look at all those showers heading towards honolulu and oahu by tomorrow late in the morning. by sunday evening to monday morning, it's pulling away and so are the showers. it's going to be a rain event and to a lesser extent a wind event. back here at home, we have a few patches of drizzle in the morning. otherwise, the 44th annual half moon bay art and pumpkin festival full of sunshine and mid to upper 60s. same thing for the game tomorrow. 3:00 at cal. 70 dropping down to 65. for the nike women's half marathon here in san francisco, we're looking at temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 for the
