♪ broadcast center. this is abc7 news. >> police say this man preyed on kids within feet of their parents. he is under arrest after being caught on camera. tonight his fiancee is speaking out about the accusation. i'm ama and dan is off tonight. 20-year-old christopher german was identified a day after we aired video of him leaving the store where the alleged groping happened. alan wang is live in san leandro. alan, you spoke with his fiancee tonight. >> i did, ama. she said christopher german is still locked up and unable to make bail. she also says he told her he came to this wal-mart on monday night and went down to the target store down the street to buy her a birthday gift, but police say he was here sexually assaulting a young girl and his urge was so uncontrollable that he went

down to the target and did the same thing. >> surprised me. i got a little brother. it bothers me a little bit. >> knowing he has a kid too, it is disturbing. >> he wanted to go to the police academy. he wanted to become a cop. >> caitlin wright is equally as shocked at her neighbors. the only difference is she is the fiancee of christopher german who is in jail charged with two counts of lewd acts with children. >> he didn't tell me he did it, but he said he was sorry he is putting me through this. >> police say they have a strong case proving german groped a young girl at this wal-mart. and then he went to this target where he groped another girl under 10 years of age. wright spoke with one girl's mother at the arraignment where his bail was set at $200,000. >> i just cried and told her i was so sorry. i don't know what happened or why it happened. >> the couple and their 1-year-old son moved from

southern california to live with wright's grandmother and san leandro. less than a block from jefferson elementary school. >> i feel like he is somebody i don't know. i feel ashamed that he has done this or possibly did this. i feel scared. i feel embarrassed for my son. >> now wright fears her dreams of starting a family have been crushed. in san leandro, alan wang, abc7 news. police are investigating a string of alleged sexual assaults at a fraternity just off the uc berkeley campus. last weekend five people may have been given the date rape drug at delta kapa ep -- epsilon. >> the students are out and so are police. one of the trough turn tee -- fraternities has had issues in the past. it lost recognition because of hazing and other safety violations. police are investigating these

alleged assaults, but so far no victims have actually come forward. >> delta kappa epsilon fits in the middle of greek row and that's where five people were allegedly drged and assaulted. drugged and assaulted. they filed a report saying the victims were given roofies. police have no suspects and they say there is one big issue. >> we haven't had any issues. >> men living at the house would not talk to me, but the organization did send a statement. part reads delta kappa epsilon condemns sexual violence in the strongest terms. it adds no other facts have come out that support the allegations. this is not the only fraternity under investigation. uc pleasant out another crime alert. a member said he was sexually assaulted by a fraternity brother. the house is off campus meaning the city police department is taking over the investigation. >> we don't have any confirmed reports or known victims at

this time. >> sadly i am not surprised. >> aerial butler, a sexual assault survivor said a problem in the past is confusion, where to report a yiem and who to -- a crime and who to turn to. >> this is a huge issue. is it on campus or off campus? who do i contact? do i still go to campus pd? >> they send out a report if there is a violent crime and post fliers. in berkeley, abc7 news. >> a 20-year-old cal student had been charged with one count of rape bayous of drugs, but today, alameda county prosecutors dropped the charge after reviewing the evidence and the alleged victim ?ie. a highway patrol sergeant is facing child pornography charges tonight. 49-year-old eric lund was aired after -- was arrested after a two-month investigation. they found a hard drive that had several child porn

concerned abouty -- about ebola. we posted seven things you need to know including the origin, symptoms and how it is transmitted. that's at abc7news.com. a gruesome discovery, the body of a man eaten boy a black bear in humboldt county. the remains of 65-year-old marion williams were i did covered near his trailer in red way about 75 miles south of humboldt. police say the bear did not kill william. they believe he likely died of a heart attack before he was found by that bear. blame it on the drought. water is no longer flowing from lake tahoe into the truckee river. that's because lake tahoe's water level has dipped below the natural rim for the first time in five years. diminished snowpacks mean less water is reaching the lake. reno depends on the truckee river for water. other streams feed the river and that should provide enough water to last through summer. as world series fever hits the bay area, bart is planning

francisco fire chief rang the commemorative bell as it started shaking 25 years ago. and a moment of silence. mark farrell was heading home from high school football practice that afternoon. >> sure enough the earthquake started to p that. we thought it was no big deal until we got back to the marina district. >> massive fires were triggered and entire buildings collapsed on to the street. south of market, the marriott marquis manager was on the 18th floor of the new hotel when the quake hit. you could actually see that going up and down. >> it caused a 50-foot chunk of the bridge to collapse. in oakland huge sections of the cypress freeway pancaked on to concrete and steal. the new hotel had just opened that morning.

by night fall it was one of the only buildings in the city. claudia coleman was an hour into her shift as a hostess. >> i think we kept swaying because the building was on rollers. it was swaying for an eternity. >> she reunited with co-workers for this reception. many say they are like a family because they pulled together following the quake. in san francisco, abc7 news. >> and abc7 news anchor cheryl jennings is taking a look back at the earthquake with the abc7 special 15 seconds, 25 years later, the loma prieta earthquake. it is on this sunday at 8:00 p.m. even the president has credit card trouble from time to time. president obama signed an executive order creating more secure technology for debit and credit cards. during the signing the president revealed an embarrassing moment at a fancy restaurant recently.

it is few and far between some overcast skies and we will take you to the pacific and show you the latest on hurricane ana. it is a category 1 storm with winds at 80 miles per hour. still moving to the west northwest at 13 miles per hour. overnight and early tomorrow morning you notice the main island getting heavier showers. anywhere four to eight inches with wind gusts near 35 miles an hour. maui may get spared the worst of the storm. then early sunday morning the capitol of honolulu. still a category 1 storm bringing light showers. you can see the main storm staying well south and west of the island chains. taking you live and showing you clouds upstairs, but nice bright and orange for the giants. our forecast features call for sprinkles in the north bay overnight. the weekend forecast is dry and nield and then we are -- dry and mild. we are at 67 in san francisco and 64 hey word and 64 --

hayward and 64 fremont. satellite and radar will show you our clear skies. the clouds thicken ahead of a front that is weakening and falling apart and the showers i%e few and far between and light. our fore cay calls for chances of showers mainly in the north bay, but watch as we advance to saturday morning. the system falls apart. the clouds depart and the showers are out of here too. the sunshine comes back and we will see nice, comfortable fall-like temperatures. highs starting in the south bay, 77 san jose, high of 76 santa clara and 79 los gatos. heading to the peninsula, seven-day forecast 3 for san mateo. 60s along the coast. downtown san francisco getting to about 71 degrees in the afternoon. 70 for south san francisco. north bay early morning clouds and we will have a little drizzle and then sunshine in the afternoon. east bay 73 for oakland and 72 san leandro with plenty of
