is caused by people looking for parking. in a city that's remarkable that so much energy is, is wasted. streetline has looked at the problem of parking, which has not been looked at for the last 30, 40 years. we wanted to rethink that whole industry, so we go and put out these sensors in each parking spot and then there's a mesh network that takes this information, sends it over the internet so you can go find exactly where those open parking spots are. the collaboration with citi was important for providing us the necessary financing; allow this small start up to go provide a service to municipalities. citi has been an incredible source of advice, how to engage with municipalities, how to structure deals, and as we think about internationally citi is there every step of the way. so the end result is you reduce congestion,

we will have a late burn off by about 11:00. most areas should be sunny, but known as full sunshine inland while the low fog and clouds are banked up along the coast. a cooler day today. low 70s in oakland. details when the rain arrives coming up. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. turning now to the ebola crisis. this morning a dallas healthcare worker who was being monitored for signs of ebola has disembarked a cruise ship. this is video of the ship which arrived in galveston around 3:00 this morning. hours earlier a coast guard helicopter received cheers when it came to collect the blood sample from that worker, who we've learned is now on her way home. abc news reporter tom lamoss has been following the story and as the latest from dallas. >> with music playing in the background and passengers drinking and sunbathing, a coast guard helicopter hovers over the ship making an emergency pickup. the package?

a blood sample from the dallas lab technician on board who handled specimens from ebola victim thomas eric duncan. >> it was circling the ship. it never landed. it dropped off supplies for the blood sample and came back about 30 minutes later and got the sample, and it was successful. >> the sea to air blood sample coming after both mexico and ball leads refused to let the lab technician disembark in their countries, despite being classified as low risk by the cdc and exhibiting no symptoms. in ohio, health officials aren't taking any chances. now requiring self monitoring for more than 100 people who may have had contact with nurse amber wilson during her cleveland visit days before being diagnosed with ebola. >> the bottom line is everyone is being checked. >> at the hospital where the nurse treated duncan, 75 staffers are still in a monitoring phase. barred from seeing patients. >> we are right in the middle of

a not zone. >> texas presbyterian releasing videos like this one, trying to win back its reputation after it admitted it improperly trained staff to handle the ebola patients. >> and this morning we are reporting the lab technician tested negative for ebola. and nina is in stable condition and so is the other nurse. the 48 people in contact with duncan before he died when he contracted ebola, their 21 window ends today, that includes his fiancee. abc news, dallas. >> this morning the director of the national institute of health sat down with george stephanopoulos on "this week" to discuss the ebola crisis. he said it's important to recognize not all hospitals are equipped right now to handle a possible outbreak of the virus in the u.s. >> we know we have four hospitals that are there now, including my own hospital.

but we need to pretrain people so that if we need to surge up, we can. but i think we don't want to get people to think that any hospital, community hospital, is totally equipped to care for the patient. they must be able to identify and isolate, and then from there get them to a place where you have pretrained people who know how to do it. >> he also said there will be new cdc protocols in place for hospitals to follow when treating ebola patients. the fear of the virus is causing some people to take matters into their own hands. surgical masks and protective gear have become popular items to buy. sergio quintana has the details. >> at sfo recent travelers say some passengers are clearly worried about the spread of ebola on flights. >> on fort lauderdale to houston i saw a group of ten laid -- ladies with facemasks on.

>> these two just flew in from texas from australia. they both feel it is overblown. >> the chances of getting it are so slim. >> healthcare workers repeatedly said ebola is not an airborne pathogen and can only be transmitted through an infected person's bodily fluids. >> still pictures like this illustrate the level of fear some people have. at p.k. safety online, most their protective suits for this company online is sold out. they sell equipment for first responders. and at mountain view sir plus there has been a run on personal protective equipment, including suits and gas masks. >> how many do you think you have sold in the last couple of weeks? >> i would say in the low hundreds. >> at about 17 bucks, this is turning out to be one of the most popular items here, especially in the last couple of weeks. the only problem is the face shield you would use along with the elastic hoodie is all sold out.

as residents waited for firefighters to arrive yesterday morning, a woman suddenly realized her father was trapped inside. >> my daddy is in there! my dad is in there! can you get him out for me! get my dad out! >> we've got to get him out of there! >> please! >> the fire began at 9:00 yesterday morning. the flames growing larger by the moment. as the woman begged for someone to save her dad, an explosion could be heard. but watch what happens. >> is everybody out? >> no, there's a man in there. rescue. a man is under arrest accused of running over his ex-girlfriend and another woman in vallejo. police say the 20-year-old man ran over the two women yesterday afternoon at laurel street and then took off. according to the report officers returned to the scene while officers were investigating, and then led them on a chase where witnesses recognized them. both women were taken to the hospital where moderate injuries. the man is facing several charges, including attempted murder. >> new this morning, mountain view police released video of a person of interest in connection with the burglary of a downtown business a week ago today. the person is seen entering a business on castro street. a cell phone was stolen. this is the man. black with a medium-to-heavy build. he's seen in the video wearing a san francisco giants jersey and hat. anyone with information is asked to call mountain view police.

where she was last seen. abc news reporter bosi has the latest now from virginia. >> this morning the police announced the search for hannah graham is over. >> sadly the end of a death investigation. >> the disturbing discovery of human remains saturday afternoon included a skull and bones, as well as a pair of tight-fitting dark-colored pants similar to the one graham is seen wearing in this surveillance video. found deep in the woods along a road the suspect jesse matthews allegedly walked frequently, 8 miles from where graham was last seen. >> it was definitely a shock, a huge shock. >> investigators stressing that the identity of the remains cannot be confirmed without more testing, but thanking the volunteer searches for their efforts. >> i want to thank eveone who

gave up their days, their nights, their weekends. >> the final images captured of the straight-a student in this surveillance video are with 32-year-old matthew seen walking right beside her. now in jail for the alleged abduction. >> and police say forensic evidence links him to the 2009 death of another college student, morgan harrington, whose body was found three months after she disappeared near charlottesville. overnight harrington's father reflected on the graham family's loss. >> i think when you don't know there's still part of you hoping. >> police are now asking residents where the area where the remains were found to call them if they believe they may have seen jesse matthew here. and investigators in virginia are now looking into possible forensic links between matthew and at least four other unsolved cases of missing women.

abc news, virginia. >> the presidio will use a fish-killing chemical to try to elemonade several invasive species from a san francisco lake. they said they are trying to move the fish from mountain lake to make room for native species. they will use a plant based chemical to get rid of the invasive fish. they say all traces of the chemical will disappear after three days. the port of san francisco's dry dock number 1 is headed to china for scrap. it was sold to a dutch company for one dollar. but the port is paying $3 million to deliver it. the dock was used to float and repair ships below the waterline. it was decommissioned some 15 years ago. it broke away from it's mooring back in 2002, ramming the island. >> residents in one union city neighborhood are on alert this morning after a mountain lion was spotted in their area.

police had their guns drawn as they searched for the big cat yesterday afternoon after a group of women spotted it near a playground. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian has the details from the union landing neighborhood. >> it was pretty long with a long tail and they knew it wasn't a cat, they knew it wasn't a golden retriever, they knew it was a mountain lion. >> reporter: gabriel and his wife and friends spotted the mountain lion around 1:30. it was there beyond a fence walk along old alameda creek. the women called police immediately. >> i just know they were out here with their rifles, and i thought they were looking here for someone with a pellet gun. >> they were look for a cat that was at least three feet tall. two cars full of officers scoured the creek and neighborhood but they came up empty. >> there are people walking their dogs here and if they didn't find it, it went somewhere. >> that's exactly what residents

are worried about. >> this is the first mountain lion sighting on record west of the freeway. police are warning people with small animals to keep them inside. >> i'm going close off my doggie door that i have in the back and make sure when they go outside, i'm going to watch them. >> this neighbor is taking things a step further. >> dangerous. i have four boys who were about to play baseball in the yard but now we have to put the garage down and be more aware now. >> he's also standing watch outside of his home, warning joggers, walkers and other neighbors that there's a mountain lion on the loose. in union city, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> happening today, walkers will flood the streets of walnut creek. for the 14th annual east bay walk to defeat als. our very own abc7 news reporter alan wang will m.c. the event. you might recall allen and several other members of our abc7 family took part in the ice bucket challenge to raise awareness for this debilitating

disease. funds raised from the 1.5-mile walk will go toward care, services and research for the als association golden west chapter. opening ceremonies for today's event begin shortly at 10:00 and the walk gets underway at 11:00 at heather farm parks in walnut creek. progress is now being made if cleaning up the mess in bermuda caused by hurricane gonzalo. there are no deaths or serious injuries, but more than 18,000 homes are still without power. the category 2 storm crossed bermuda late yesterday. it moved on north over the atlantic. it's expected to arrive off the coast of newfoundland today. in the pacific, hurricane hanna is on track to miss hawaii by more than 100 miles but it is generating high waves, strong winds, heavy rains, prompting flash flood warnings throughout the islands. a tropical storm warning has been issued for kauai.

a tropical storm watch remains in o'ahu. is there anything on that, lisa? >> it's just 85 miles south of lihoui, hawaii. they are getting heavy rains, high surf. and that part of the island chain bearing the brunt of hurricane. which is now a minimal hurricane. i have overlaid the visibility here. you see where the fog is. very dense out there from napa to santa rosa, half moon bay and even san jose, three mile visibility and three quarter mile visibility in novato. we also had fog as far as east as the delta. but now that is beginning to clear. it's sunny in our inland east bay and here is santa cruz. we can see the low cloudiness in the distance. oakland is looking at a little bit of sunshine and 63 degrees. morgan hill 57. still cloudy in san jose. you can see just a little bit of fog there from sfo where delays have been about 30 minutes, but the fog continues to retreat and

improve around south city whereas san francisco we are a little foggier right any. 56 in napa and livermore sunny skies and 59. this is what i mean from our sutro tower camera. we had pretty good visibility earlier. and now with the foggy spots, that allows for a later burn off, cooler temperatures, and then we have a south wind to look forward to. that cools down the north bay, it keeps san francisco cooler today. whereas inland it will be sunny and still very mild. but there's a cold front on the way. and this one just a little bit stronger than what we have seen in the past. and that means that we should be able to ring out a little bit of more moisture. but not for everybody. it looks like the wet morning commute will be for the north bay. about 7:00, 8:00. here's a look at the typing of it. then it's going to take it's time as it moves through the east bay and south bay. it should be through the south bay by about noontime and here we are, where we are looking at just some spotty showers burke

by 2:00 in the afternoon perhaps still a little bit more shower activity. today it will be in the upper 70s when the sun is revealed in san jose. peninsula low 70s redwood city and it will be a cloudy day for the half moon bay art and pumpkin festival with upper to mid-60s along the coast, about 70 in san francisco. low 70s with a little bit of a breeze from petaluma to sonoma today. near east bay look for 73. that's much cooler than you were yesterday in oakland and you head inland still a mild upper 70s for pittsburgh today. 75 in the san ramon valley. the accuweather seven-day forecast, here comes the rain tomorrow. starting in the morning in the north bay, spreading east throughout the later part of the morning and early afternoon. then we're are coolish and fallish on wednesday. thence wednesday, thursday and friday numbers warm up and it should stay on the warm side for the weekend if our forecast models are believable. abc7 news has another great

you can see the buses as they are waiting for those players to hop on. the giants are schedule today leave at&t park at 10:00 this morning. they will head straight to sfo and from there they have a charterd flight to kansas city. you are looking at video from the teamworking out yesterday. they started their pitching fielding practice, which is something routine for spring training, but here even late in the season they are focusing on fundamentals. madison bumgarner will start game one against the royals tuesday night. the first pitch is at 5:07:00 p.m. now this caps off an amazing run for both teams, which enter the playoffs as wild cards. the giants breeze fluid the pittsburgh pirates, and the royals had their own epic won sweeping the baltimore orioles. accepting of sweep, the last time the giants faced the royals was in august and the royals swept the giants in a three-game series. but this is october and the giants proved have proved they know how to play october bake.

getting ready to cheer for the giants. these already there in her cheerleader outfit. e-mail your fan photos to ureport or tweet them to us@abc7 news bay area. fresh hope this morning for a new raiders stadium now that a new investor has agreed to take the lead on oakland's coliseum city project. according to our media partner, the oakland tribune, the new investor, who has not yet been named, has already had several discussions with the raiders about a new stadium, but none so far with the oakland a's. the city, as you know, has struggled to find investors to redevelop the coliseum site into a sports and entertainment hub. this tuesday the city council is set to discuss extending the exclusive negotiating rights deal with developers. san francisco's ronald mcdonald house will soon be

able more parents with critically ill children. it's expanding to a second location inside the children's hospital. cheryl jennings and meteorologist mike niko took a tour of both the new house and the original. >> six months, 25 weeks is when he was born. i was in the hospital about a week. and they were trying to put off the labor and it worked for a while and then it didn't work. colleen and shawn had a major scare with their new son julien when he was born three months before his due date. this is cell phone video of little julien. >> the doctor came back in and said he's a fine. he's a little guy, but he's fine. >> julien lives in the neonatal intensive care unit. he's at a local hospital right now. mom and dad living at the ronald mcdonald house on scott street in san francisco. they don't have to drive 90 miles back and forth from

their north bay home in casdero now. but he was home when he found out his wife was going into early labor. >> so i rushed back down, thinking that i was going to miss the birth of my child, was she going to be okay, was i maybe going to lose my wife and child in the same swoop. sitting in traffic on the 101 thinking all these things. >> now they have a home away from home here at the house while julien is getting stronger. and they have a built-in support system. >> because he's three months early, we almost -- almost didn't know how to react to loving him when you are so afraid of losing him every moment. so those first couple weeks were so hard. but then when we talked to other families and realized that's how everybody feels, it really helped us in terms of balancing. >> they are able to get their own laundry done here and don't have to worry about a decent meal. >> they cook meals for us so we don't have to worry about that. it's so close to the hospital and there are shut else that you tan kay. they make it feel more like home. we get to hold him every day and

that's the best part of my day. >> and soon more parents like them will be able to benefit because a second ronald mcdonald house is almost complete. it's located on the first floor of the new ucsf children's hospital at mission bay. for families with children in immediate crisis. >> here we are in our kitchen and dining area. >> the executive director lois moore showed meteorologist mike niko around. >> the gourmet kitchen is just waiting for chefs volunteering to cook for the families. there are 11 bedrooms. they have a tv and a computer monitor with 16 channels. they have in-house channels. families can stay in touch with their child's medical team or go online. >> they had no time to do anything about their child yet they had time on their hands. >> six bathrooms, a large laundry room and private lockers and the hospital has a helicopter landing pad. >> most people don't realize that a child who is rushed by helicopter to our city lands at

sfo and then is put in an ambulance and brought to a hospital. we're talking about a world in which minutes make a difference. >> one of the greatest advantages of having the ronald mcdonald house here in the hospital is the fact that parents are just an elevator ride away from seeing their kids. >> being inside the hospital would be your dream house. in the middle of the night you can get on that elevator, go up and check on your child. >> and that will help ease the minds of worried parents by calling it home in the future. and as for young julien, they hope to get him home for the holidays. >> we were planning on having him as our christmas present anyway, so that's what we are hoping for, that we get to take home our present. >> abc7 news. >> still ahead on the abc7 sunday morning news, a to close encounter with mars. the nuns a million years event happening. and here's a live look from our
