do. >> i got stuck here friday and it took 45 minutes to go over the bridge. today it should be smoother. this sort of traffic has them rethinking the entire project. this is what caused. six steel plate that's were installed. drivers slowed way down to go over them. grid lock extended all the way to highway 24 to the children's hospital. cal trans officials are halting work. >> this time the traffic with as so bad for so long we decided to suspend the project. >> reporter: the steel plates have also been removed. they were able to cover the work area. cracks were found along the western span of the bay bridge and engineers have to replace both. officials are meeting today to discuss rescheduling this

project without such a large traffic impact. live in san francisco, alicea herrington, abc 7 news. >> alicea thanks. oakland police are looking for suspects in the deaths of two men killed in separate incidents about two hours apart. a man was found stabbed to death inside a house on chestnut street. the victim is described as having multiple larserations. earlier i man was shot several times on martin luther king jr. way. he was pronounced dead at the scene. >> a man is accused of intentionally running over his ex-girlfriend and another woman. video shows two women walking when they were hit by a truck driving the long way. police say the driver then ran over his ex-girlfriend in the parking lot.

the 20-year-old took off and came back and led officers on a high speed chase before being arrested. he faces two counts of attempted murder when he makes his first court appearance tomorrow. >> san francisco police are searching for the driver invo e involved in a hit and run collision that left two people hurt. officers say a light-colored bmw hit the man and woman and then took off. police say the beddist ifbeped suffered nonlife threatening injuries. >> the world health organization said nigeria is now free of the virus. the same can be said of the f fiance of thomas eric duncan. they were the first people to come in contact with him who later died of the virus. the hospital is also issuing an

apology this morning. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson has details . printed as an ad , the hospital apologized to the community. two nurses who cared for him contracted the virus. the hospital ceo admitted two key failures, a lack of communication about his travel history and the lack of ebola education and training prior to duncan's arrival. saying as a institution, we may mistake handling during this very difficult challenge. >> if more people are infected with ebola, other hospitals could find themselves in the same unprepared position. she wanted hospitals to stock top suits and require routine practices for care givers on how to take them off and on.
