score. todd, todd, todd. >> todd: fuel on the fire. love you, sean. the only reason i bring that up. connor said nothing about the nfl. but so many people after the first few weeks and how he played, talking about him as a first rounder and he's going to be ready after this year. it's not the case. he can be a very good player at the next level if he comes back and continues to improve his additi decision-make and the footwork that we talked a lot about tonight. >> chris: i love the fact that michigan state, their job to stop michigan state. >> sean: langford. he's going to get to the goal line and in the end zone. and the crowd that remains goes crazy. yep. i was just going to say that mark dantonio says it's
4:01 pm
personal. there was clear lay statement behind that last touchdown. >> chris: it's not his job to stop michigan state. it's michigan's job to stop michigan state. you can add anything you want to it. but he's sending a message to his team. and that's his penalty. and he grabs on to that personality. >> sean: the extra point good by michael geiger. and the skirmish after the extra poi point. and now flags are being thrown. i don't think anything serious. just some pushing and shoving. >> chris: makes for an interesting handshake after the game. >> sean: michigan state did not throw a pass on that drive. >> referee: after the play was over, unsportsman like conduct. michigan, number 99. the penalty will be enforced on the kickoff. >> sean: matthew godin, backup
4:02 pm
defensive tackle. seven plays on that touchdown drive. all of them rushes by jeremy langford. he's up to 35 carries, a career-high. and he is also involved in today's good hands play brought to you by allstate. >> chris: right there. the stiff arm, vision. explosive through the hole. and what makes him stand up, a lot of other players, above them, the running back position in college football, his ability to break tackles and make people miss. take a two-yard gain and turn it into an eight-yard gain. >> sean: there was a 24-point margin. >> chris: do you think he'll smile? soil not yet. this year, 29-3.
4:03 pm
29-6 was the most lopsided win since 1967. this one's going to be one-point worse unless michigan scores again. and out of the back of the end zone to kevin cronin. well, michigan state, with the advantage of a favorable schedule here. they have a week off before they host ohio state. this place will be crazy on november 8th on abc. prime time game. who do you like in that one? >> chris: the edge to michigan state. a tremendous crowd, great fan base. and they will add to the energy and help michigan state compete against ohio state. offensively, both balanced, both very solid on defense. it's going to be a great game. and a big ten matchup that will be, in my opinion, just wonderful to watch. i wish we could do that game. >> sean: maybe we can. we have a lot of juice in the company. >> chris: okay. >> sean: see what you can do.
4:04 pm
drake johnson, the running back. r.j. williamson, the tackle. and on the michigan side, chris, many believe that brady hoke's future really is no longer in doubt. that it's a foregone conclusion that this will be his last season. a lot of the speculation was that if he won tonight, have a chance to survive. needed a win today. they are not going to win. and it's not a good football team right now. they're 4-10 in the last 14 games. >> chris: he's a good man. he's a good football coach. the problem is he understands that the bottom line business. you're at michigan, you have to win. and they're not winning. it's that simple. >> sean: he won in remarkable fashion at ball state and san diego state. but it's not happening at the school he loves so much. michigan drops to 3-5 overall.
4:05 pm
three of the last four, needed that just to become bowl eligible. and they still have a game with ohio state on their schedule. here's todd with mark dantonio. the winner in this rivalry for the sixth time in the last seven years. >> todd: coach, obviously this is a team win. jeremy langford, 35 carries, 177 yards, how about his performance? >> big run at the end, obviously. but able to run the ball as the game went on. that's part of it for us. >> todd: now won six of seven against michigan. how big is this win for this program? >> big win. obviously huge win for us. you can't understate it for us. very proud of our football team in terms of how hard we played. >> todd: how are you feeling, coach? >> good. i feel real good. >> sean: that qualifies as a smile from coach dantonio.
4:06 pm
they get the paul bunyon trophy. a tradition that dates back to 1953. the statue of paul bun i don't know, state of michigan, under his feet. and, again, the team with the rushing edge wins again for the 42nd time in the last 45 years. 35-11, the final score. sparty victorious. tune into abc tonight. more great action. ohio state, in state college to take on penn state. f for chris, todd, and the crew, sean mcdonough. so long from east lansing.
