according to her mom, already a huge fan. >> i am a big fan. she will be a big fan from birth. >> by the second inning the giants were already in trouble. the crowd continued to cheer hoping for a come back, but it didn't happen. forcing a game seven. >> abc7 news. >> there are 20% more officers out tonight than unusual. a mobile command unit was set up and uh lass things have been -- and alass things have been quiet tonight. >> the giants fans fill the mission district which historically is ground zero for parties and giant sized celebrations. that's why they put together a pro active plan to keep fans involved in the festivities in check. >> we don't want to take them to jail. >> the streets were calm as they streamed out of bars and restaurants. controls were in place to make it a peaceful night no matter

seven. that did not happen so now the pressure is on. abc7 news reporter wayne freedman is live in kansas city. what a blowout. >> i will tell you, dan. it is interesting. i told you earlier we have a story and a drama taking place in two cities, in kansas city and san francisco. the opposite was going on here mostly unless of course you were or were with or knew a giant fan in which case it was not their finest hour. one more time let's look at the low lights if you can call them that. the giants were rolling and then they hit the field and had the second inning and then they got stuck on velcro. the inning never ended. hit after hit. before long if there was a slaughter or mercy rule in major league baseball they may have invoked it. the first three hours lasted one -- sorry the first three innings, one hour and 39 minutes . by the seventh many fans

majors including a long stint with the oakland a's as one of the bash brothers. new at 11:00, a denver man who mysteriously vanished during half time of the nfl game between the broncos and the chargers and was found safe 100 miles away in pueblo. 53-year-old paul kitterman was unharmed and they did not reveal why he suddenly disappeared. the investigation into an unmanned rocket explosion is said to set at day break. was carrying 5,000 pounds of cargo. it launched from virginia destined for the international spacestation. no one was hurt. new video of the explosion is giving us a new perspective of the fiery blast and what happened. my wall wall -- michael waller was one of the spectators who was watching near the flight

>> new at 11:00, you expect to see bats in neighborhoods ahead of halloween. but not real bats. a san francisco family was surprised to find just that, a real bat, in their driveway and this one turned out to be rabid. alan wang has the story. >> at first she said are you sure this is not a prank? >> 11-year-old ian mcnamara that it was not a halloween trick. >> we saw one of the ears twitch so we knew it was alive when it was in the driveway. >> his mother took these photos of the bat and eventually it made its way from the family's driveway to the sidewalk along 15th avenue in san francisco's richmond direct. >> they put a box on top of it. the board of health came out and picked it up. they said the bat was rabid. >> the rabid bat was found in the daylight outside of the

argone community garden. >> the san francisco department of public health says there are no record of humans contracting rabies from a bat, but if you or your child have touched a bat in recent days they would like to hear from you. melissa said she was interest viewed by an -- interviewed by the animal control officer. >> he said there were a few cases around the area. so if we are aware and stay careful i am not concerned. >> the department of health could not confirm the number of rabid bats found in the area, but says there is likely nothing to worry about. in san francisco, alan wang, abc7 news. some developing news from the big island of hawaii. red, hot lava from a volcano has incinerated an empty shed and made it to a nearby town. these are staggering images. incredible pictures. the river of molten rock has

hit everything in its path. emergency officials will need to clear out in the next 24 hours. the eruption is reminiscent of what happened down the road in kalapana. despite california's on going drought and august's devastating earthquake, the harvest looks to be one of the most successful ever. this year's crop is expected to be the third larmingest on record, nearly four million tons of grapes are expected to be harvested leaving growers to believe that 2014 will be another excellent vintage. >> good news. band members are ecstatic and for good reason. this is a story you will see only on abc7 news. the students were reunited with precious instruments that vanished after they performed the national anthem at a giants home ghiem in august. an unlikely god samaritan, a

homeless -- good samaritan man found the instruments outside at&t park for safe keeping and eventually brought them to a friend. >> gosh, this is a band's -- he said i know but i don't know whose and i don't know what to do with it. i can't keep it on the streets. >> he then started searching the internet to find the rightful owners and found wayne freedman's story about the instruments disappearing. she reached out to the school and reunited with -- the students with their instruments . an obstetrician who delivered a baby 45 years ago never imagined the boy would go on to save his life. the child is now a sacramento heart surgeon. dr. robert kincaid is pictured on the left. the man sitting down brought kincaid into the world. he will be 84 on friday. kincaid operated on his heart last month. the connection would have gone unnoticed had they not chit chatted about their careers as physicians.

moon bay. no fog to speak of looking toward sutro tower. the temperatures are in the mid50s. 50s pretty much for concord and livermore and our sfo camera is showing a pretty clear view. tomorrow morning i don't expect delays if you are flying out of there. sunny and warm and haunted by rain on halloween. and we are looking at a slight chance of thunder on friday afternoon, evening hours. that is halloween, of course. here is a cold front that is bringing showers to the pacific northwest. it will stay there. the storm we are watching is a cold one. it looks more like winter than a fall storm. and it is going to bring snow to the see square raw nevada. to the sierra nevada. 11:00 p.m. on thursday night, just cloud cover and fog. and then we head toward friday morning. the start of the rush hour, moderate rain showing up at 5:00 a.m. the rain line starts to move through. do allow the extra time for the morning commute. 9:00 a.m. when some of the morning parades are happening

at school, i hope the schools do have back up plans because as you can see here, you may need to take your plans indoors. it will be pretty rainy. and then for later in the afternoon you might actually be okay for those festivities. showers for trick-or-treaters, 6:00. shortly after 6:00 the sun goes down and we will have more showers coming through the bay area. we need the rain. the rain totals will look like this. half an inch to an inch. lower elevations .15 to half an inch. and snow in the mountains means it will be tough travel. expect wintry conditions. significant delays are possible. snow levels will start at 7,000 to 8,000 feet and then drop to 4,000 feet on saturday morning. several inches at the higher elevations, but the see year raw crest could see -- the sierra crest could see a foot of snow. make sure you bundle up. mid40s for our coldest inland valleys. upper 40s around livermore and 50s around the rest of the region. highs tomorrow warmer than today. 81 santa rosa and 75 san francisco.
