these are homes that are under construction. someone could see the fire from interstate 680. it was huge. this is in pleasanton. firefighters got the call after 2:00 a.m. and they got here they realized the area was so new the file high dramatics did not work. they tried to turn them on but in wart came out of them. they had to bring in hoses from the street so that probably cost another these or four minutes. they got the fire out. it deyou haved two homes under construction. it started to spread to a third home but they saved that home. it was charred only on the outside and suffered broken glass. they will start the investigation when the sun comes up. the homes were two story homes at 3,000 square feet.

they were not nearly finished. they were destroyed. no one was hurt. there are hotspots flaring up so firefighters will stay on the scene. it is election day in california. a big race will decide the next mayor of san jose. the mayor is termed out and there are two candidates with different views. matt has more on this. the leadership will be changing at city hall. chuck reed is termed out after serving for eight years. the issue for voters is public safety. the two mayoral candidates want to increase the number of officers in a police department that has 400 less officers than in 2008.

storms away from us. we will flirt with the 80's tomorrow and mid-to-upper 70 and nearly 70 at the coast. it depends on the wind. how is the remark? >> flowing better but we are dealing with an accident with major injuries. the san mateo bridge from hayward to foster city is wide open. especially eastbound. those are the headlights pushing to hayward. plenty of green in the bay area and purple as we drop into saratoga. eastbound and westbound highway nine is shut down between skyline boulevard. all lanes have re-opened but this is a major injury accident and two people were in the vehicle and suffered major injuries. we should see traffic flowing along highway nine in both directions. sky line remained open. expect to see delays.
