arizona state team which is in control of its destiny in the pac-12 south when they return to conference play after this brief step out of conference action. >> chris: they'll move closer after this weekend games. if they win the pac-12 south and go and beat oregon, they're in, in my opinion, with the schedule they have. they'll be in in my eyes. >> sean: they had quality wins. it was notre dame who needed a marquee win today. but you mentioned they have been handling ranked opponents lately. foster. started today with a four-game winning streak. three of the four were over teams ranked in the top 25. at the time of the meeting, usc, stanford and utah last week. fourth and goal. the clock's running. brian kelly isn't going to stop it. he's accepting that the outcome is no longer in doubt. and todd graham about to make history.

only four coaches who have defeated notre dame while coaching at two different schools. nick saban, dennis erickson, johnny major and jones wi. all four won championships in some point in their career. he's about to join with a win at tulsa and a win here today. and he talks about this game as a lead up to a possible national championship. our goal is the national championship. and if we want to win one this year, we have to win this game. and vault way up into the conversation in the college football playoff picture. >> chris: if they're not talking about a championship, they need to play somewhere else. that's the mind set you have to have. >> sean: here are the rankings. number nine. they jumped five spots last week to this week.

the female was barely more than a year old. she died yesterday as zoo staff was basically putting the animals away for the night. reporter: administrators at the zoo say this is an inden that happened last night as they were closing down the gorilla habitat. kabibe was being moved to her night quarters when workers say she quickly darted under a highly drawic door and she was crushed. kabibe has a strong bond with her grandmother. this is the latest instance sent for the san francisco zoo in 2007 a monkey was storm. he was turned in days later by someone who said they discovered him in a backpack. banana sam died of complications

from heart disease. there have been two tiger attacks, one in 2007, one in 2003, the most recent incident a tiger killed a patron and attacked two others when she escaped, and in 2003, tiger attacked a zookeeper during a public feeding event. the san francisco zoo says last night's incident with kabibe is still under investigation. reporting live at the san francisco zoo. >> happening now. prep work is underway for the installation of a center barrier on the golden gate bridge. this is a live look from the golden gate bridge camera. -- we don't have the picture. we'll get to alyssa harrington who is live with a look at what is going on right now. reporter: the moveable barrier will be very thin, about 12 inches, the long of a normal piece of paper sideway. the work could cause traffic but

[applause] >> no question about it. >> the $81 million project is expected to be finished by late 2017. right now about 200 customers are without water in napa, and it could be connected the august q earthquake. the break was reported at 2:30 this morning at first and laurel streak. a 36-inch main was busted. they set up a temporary fix to get water to some customers. the line was installed in 1967. public works believes the recent earthquake was more than it could handle. >> considering the shakeup we had on our water system in our august 24th earthquake, we continue to find multiple leaks

on the system. we have had over 180 water main leaks on the system, and even just last week there were eight extra leaks that we don't typically have. >> the city will consider temporary water stations if they cannot fix the leak soon. all clear this afternoon in downtown san jose where a natural gas leak prompted evacuations and a shelter in place order for thousands of people. the leak began 11:00 yesterday morning, where a construction crew pierced a pipe. about 2500 people were evacuate from office buildings. the leak also forced six bus lines to be rerouted. they returned to normal service around 11:00 this morning and the leak is capped. crews today conducted safety tests. new details on allegations of a scheme by the san jose police officers association that it was trying to get new recruits to quit the force.

abc7 news exposed the claim last month. that's when a former san jose officer stepped forward, saying he was offered money if he would say association president asked new recruits to quit. the city council voted unanimously not to investigate the police union. instead council members directed the city to interview recruits. the union denies the accusations. the last two americans detained in north korea are heading home. kenneth bae and matthew miller are making their way back to the united states. here's the story. reporter: a sigh of relief for two american families. >> very grateful.

watching buildings blow up is pretty cool no matter who old you are. but in this case the person who got to blow up the building was four years old. it happened in atlanta this morning. children's health care hospital bought this hotel to build more office space. and to celebrate doctors arranged for a patient to push the button that triggered the implosion. very powerful. forget selfies. this is nasa video of three astronauts playing with a floating softball-sized water bubble aboard the international space station. they put a sealed gopro inside the bubble. the result is this orbiting bubble cam that recorded the feat. astronauts made the video over

the summer to explore the phenomenon on water surface tension in microgravity. >> fans in the stadium but not for a football game. they got a chance to train like their favorite football player us. the 4.9k stadium run and challenge court gave fans the chance to run on the field or do the same kind of grueling physical challenge as your favorite nfl players do weekly. this is the kickoff of a team initiative to encourage fans to get in shape. but that wasn't the only reason they came out. >> exciting to see the players' cars in the parking lot. i think the guys finished five minutes late. >> 49er fans. >> there were three top men and a top three women to finish. everyone who ran got a t-shirt

the big question, will the 49ers make the playoffs? if they do it they have to have two big road wins, starting tomorrow in north carolina. who can forget the last time these two faced off. they're winning late in fourth when drew brees was stacked, but the refs called a high hit and gave the statements the first down and kicked the field goal and won the game. niners will remember the play tomorrow but there's always two sides to the story. drew brees sees it also different. >> from my perspective that was a game that went back and forth. i think there were maybe breaks on both sides throughout the
